That's the thing, no way am I going to replace the rest of em when they are fully working. And how do I check which 'generation' my monitor 7 is to match up with the working one if I do go the route of buying single?

I have two pair. Nice speakers and that sub will pair nice with them. 20s are a better option if you have more space to cover however. But the detail the v5 studio tweeters have will amaze you.

Got a picture of them? On the back of my speakers it's lists the model/generation and serial number on the tag.

I could go with the 20's. Just dont have any room for towers now that i have the SVS sub. Sold a complete RF7 setup since they were too big for the room.

I would have to place the 10's or 20's where i have my Millenia 1's setup.
I may have to rework my TV stand a little bit for the bigger speakers.

Made a goofy little demo of my Studio 10's today. Enjoy

The Millenia One are also in the reference series and have a similar tweeter. What is the reason you are considering upgrading? I don't think it would be worth it unless you go with the S1 / Studio 20.

Ive been thinking about replacing my old DT dipolar (maybe bipolar) surrounds with something. I recently purchased studio cc590 and 60s and was using my old system's surrounds but I can tell the difference in quality between the paradigm and dts. I asked this awhile back and was originally set on getting studio 10s for surrounds but have changed my mind and may want to buy something like the adp 590s. However I do not want to spend $1200 or there abouts for a pair of 590s if I dont have to. Would I be ok with getting 390s off ebay or would something in the current line be a better match like the surrounds 3 or possibly millenia adps?

I would just bite the bullet and go with the ADP-590's. When I started upgrading my system I had the 390's for surrounds in a 5.1 setup. I put a CC-690 and 100's up front and yeah, the 390's worked "OK"... then I got a set of the ADP-590's and put them in the L/R surround positions. I could immediately tell the difference. Those 590's blended much better with the fronts than the 390's did, probably a lot like the difference you are experiencing with the DT's you are using now.

A lot of people will say timbre matching surrounds to the fronts doesn't matter but I don't agree. It does make a noticeable difference.

On another front, I think I lost the woofers out of one of my Monitor 7s....

They lasted over 10 years and I actually thought it was operator error last time I hooked em up, couldn't figure out why I was getting constant phase errors when I used Audessy on my 3806.... Well I moved houses and attached it to the new 3312CI with improved Audessy and it came back reporting the same thing! I got close to the speaker and sure enough only the tweeter is working and nothing is coming out of the woofers when music and movies play. It may have actually been damaged for 2-3 years and I lived with it this long due to having my sub handle most of the low end I guess....

So thinking of a few options:
-buy a single replacement monitor 7 off ebay. Long shot I guess.
-Try to have it repaired. Is that even possible?
-buy a new pair of equivalent fronts from Paradigm and keep the rest of my speakers - Ooof would be over $800 I bet.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Might it still be operator error somehow? Is there anything I can do to service it myself? I reseated the clamp holding the upper and lower binding posts together, any advantage to removing that and using one or the other set? It has something to do with the difference between 4 and 8 ohm ratings, right?

You can find demo monitor 9? v6 for $600, or so. Call local dealers to see who has them left. If you need to expand a couple hundred miles, its worth it. You never know when the other one might fail, so not worth dropping $200+ in to a repair. Also, pick up a new center you'll be amazed at how the monitor line has progressed. I just did a full redo of my 7 channel system (old paradigm performance series for 13 years), and am very pleased with my Monitor 11s.

I do. What would you like to know? I've posted several times about them in this thread -- just search my posts.

I didn't see any tags on the surrounds but I didn't check out the mains, will look tonight.

I currently have a system with Paradigm 60v5 as mains and a sub 12 powered by Integra DTR 40.3. Thinking of trying to add a Studio center cc-490 or cc-590.

But just contacted by a private seller for Millenia 30 LCR for an awesome deal, less than half the price of a cc-590. He claimed it's almost brand new and only been played for about 10 hr.

The timbre matching of fronts and center might be okay as both Studio and Millenia are from the same Paradigm Reference line. Another selling point is I have the Studio in piano black and the Millenia is also the same.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated? I'm leaning more towards getting cc-590 but the deal was too sweet to pass up. On the other hand I'm afraid of having to have an unused Millenia sitting at my home if it doesn't pan out well with my Studio 60s. Thanks in advance!

Personally I wouldn't use the 2 way Millenia 30 with pair of studio 60v5 and a sub 12. I think you would really miss the lower registers that come with a 3 way cc-590 (DIN 36 hz) or cc-690 (DIN 32 hz). I'm using a cc-590 with a pair of studio 100v5 which blends really well. The Millenia 30 is more for a on the wall setup where you rely a lot on your subwoofer. It's DIN is only 76 hz with a response of ±2 dB from 110 Hz - 20 kHz.

Thanks for the advice!
I was extremely doubtful while I was checking Millenia spec (DIN 76Hz) and even went so far to check Human Voice Frequency Chart for lowest possible Human voice frequency as Millenia is to be used as a center. LOL You just confirmed that I should stick with my original plan. Again, thanks much!

Just for the heck of it really. I go thru speaker sets pretty fast. Went thru the whole Klipsch RF line of speakers in about 2 years time. Now i want to work on the Paradigm line of speakers. Also would like to have a little more kick, kinda miss the room filling sound of my RF7's.

I will say the Millenia 1's sure rock for such a small speaker.

Just wanted to know if people are happy with them. I guess you can lay them on a flat surface without the stands?

Where can I find an online retailer who sells decent stands to hold me Mini Monitors? Can get BW stands from Best buy, but would like something higher than 24"

Have you looked at the Sanus Steel Series? I have ADP-590's on their SF34 stands. Those stands weigh 18 lb's each. Very stable.

One thing I have noticed now that I have a bigger center is that there is so much more than human voice coming out of the center channel.

I need more PoWWa! I just purchased a pair of Signature S2's v1 and my Harman Kardon AVR320 that happily pushed my Mini Monitor v2 is gasping for breath with my S2's ! I need a suggestion for a $1000-$1500 amp that can push my S2's do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Well the good news is I pulled the complete back end apart of my M7s, reseated everything and tightened down the screws and the plug mechanisms over the jumpers and it seems like everything is mostly ok now, it passed the phase test and calibrated fine using Audessey so I think I'll keep em going for a while yet.

I intend to build a very nice quality theater in my basement down the road a bit (have it prewired for HDMI and power to the ceiling for a PJ mount) but with every other expense in this new home dropping serious coin on my family room theater is a no go when I have perfectly good working speakers again...

At least I found out where my new local dealers are and the one closest seems very knowledgeable and a straight shooter as far as questions and opinions.

No kidding. Just purchased a paradigm stand for my C5. Huge rip off and it makes you wonder about margins on speakers. Actually I know they are making a killing. What the market will bare I guess.

Accessories have a HUGE profit margin. It's no wonder the salepeople push these things hard. The bulk of the cost of speaker stands is probably all packaging and shipping

At least you're paying for something that doesn't cost literally cents to make like iPhone cases or something like that.

Speakers themselves have huge margins for sure, that's why dealers can still sell them at 50% off or more and still make a living

Anthem i225 is around $1500. Should be able to find one for a bit less. Unfortunately there are no matching source components.

I am using a Marantz PM8004 with my S2 v3. MSRP is $999. This amp has no trouble driving my S2s or S6s.

You are spending almost 4K on a single speaker. I would factor the stands as part of the total cost. If you got a discount, look at it as going towards the cost of the stands. You could also put the cost towards a better suited A/V stand to place the C5 on. Are you using the center stand in a dedicated theater?

I'm not defending the practice here, but what makes you think they cost $10 to make? You can't really get much for $10 these days. Even the plastic crap at Walmart is more than $10 these days.

I've always been a 2-channel/music guy and never really own a center. Now that I've upgraded my receiver to 7.1, I will find out when I get the center. I decided to go with studio cc-590 piano black (690 is too big for my media storage + $$). Thanks again!
The center stands for the studio and signature are a major rip off price wise. Hell, for the cost of the speaker, the stand should be included lol. People buy them however.
So I have been looking at the studio 60's and cc-590 possibly to upgrade my aging monitor audio speakers. The front left and rights are still great but the center has seen better days. While looking at the paradigms I found a used set of Revels F-30 and C-30 in pristine shape. They want 2300 for them. Any previous F30 owners want to compare them to the studio 60? Do you think I will be getting more performance for the price than with the Paradigm speakers?
