While they aren't horns, what about the B&W Diamonds...
For full disclosure I'm both a Paradigm Reference Studio v2 owner and a B&W Diamond owner.
My Paradigm system for years consisted of:
Studio 100s
Studio CC
Studio ADPs (sides)
Studio 60 (rears)
2 Servo 15a's
1 Signature Sub 25
Last year I started upgrading to the Diamonds. I have heard the Signature S8s, C5 and S2s numerous times at my dealer and was always impressed at the better clarity and focus comapred to my Studios but they always left me with the impression of listeing to music through a speaker.
Enter the B&Ws. I have heard the older 803S, 805S and 804S at my dealer and always found them to be very good speakers but I didn't think there was really any advantage between them and the Paradigm Signatures. When I first heard the first Diamond speaker, it was the original 803D my impression was similar to the comparison between my Studio and the Signtaures, I noticed a more focused, tight and clear presentation giving them an advantage to my ears over the Signatures. As pleased as I was I was still left feeling I was listening through a speaker. I finally had an opportunity to listen to the new Diamond series and in particular the 804 Diamond. Now this was a darn good speaker, wow, given it's size it brought such life and realism to the music and right away I preferred it to the older, larger 803D. I was extremely impressed. It was at that point I decided the time was right, I had always loved the look of the 802/800 so I ordered 802 Diamonds blind. I have absolutely no regrets, these are the first speakers for me that do not give me the feeling that I'm listening through a speaker but actually part of the performance so for me as expensive as they are it was money well spent.
The Signatures have increased in price a lot over the years and are no longer much different in price compared to the B&W's, S2 vs 805 Diamond, S6 vs 804 Diamond and S8 vs 803 Diamond. Sure the 802 is a jump but not such a jump to bankrupt me and I'll be keeping them for years, I had my Studios since 2002 and they are still going strong. I still love Paradigms and will continue to highly recommend them. I tought for years my upgrade from my Studios would be the Signatures but the B&W's won my heart and ears
I am a CM owner, but I've heard the diamond series several times and thought they were spectacular. I've never had a chance to hear the signatures, but have always wondered how they compared.
Well, anyone who has seen my last few posts knows that I really love Paradigm Signatures...
However, I have been reading some professional reviews - all of which seem to suggest (and a few even come right out and state) that the Focal Electra series of speakers are in a league above the Paradigm Signatures...
Since there doesn't seem to be a dealer near me that carries the Focal Electra - I am wondering if anyone else has heard them
I tried getting a pair off ebay but some idiot jacked up the price and it sold for $735 in the end.....seriously I mean wtf. I'm only missing 20's v3 to complete my setup after years and I get denied by some rich tards GRRR.

Well if it makes you feel anynbetter, the guy did overpay by $235.
I know right 8 years ago when I bought 100's and center the 20's I would've got for $720 with discount. I do have chance to buy pair for $525 plus shipping probably another 80 but they're the sycamore version and mind are black plus again you can see priced to high. I did offer $480 for them plus shipping but he hasn't accepted. Probably denied again in my 8 year quest...
I just think its time don't you all. With lossless audio on blu ray and some music it's time the rears were fully equal with my front stage. Using Mini monitors as rears with 100 and 570 fronts. Sig says 20's but I ended up not keeping a pair all those years ago. DOH

I use studio 20s and 10s for the rear. They keep up fine with my 100s and 690. The studio 10s are quite surprising on there own, esp listening to multi channel music.

Well that's interesting, but you'll forever be buying new speakers if you base your decisions on reviews, as you rarely read a bad one on any speaker. Most of them are ads dressed up as reviews.
I think the Sigs safely reside in the realm of the upper echelon, any differences between others would be slight. As to whether those slight differences are "better", well that's purely subjective, beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
I don't envy you, it's really hard to buy something if you don't get to listen to it first. You are at the mercy of other's perceptions and or biases.
Man maybe it's Paradigm's pricing changes that are jacking up the prices even on used pairs. The new 20's go for what $1200 or $1400. Heck it's INSANE my stupid 100's now sell for $3000 for new pair. I paid $1880 in 2004 for them. I would've paid $730 back in 2004 for 20's...madness.
Yea I thought about that earlier today right before I seen your replies. Well I got a pair of Sycamore finish 20's v3 for $480 + shipping. So far better than $735 on ebay. Can't wait to add them to my other v3 100's and 570.

Yea that's $1350 in US dollars and new versions. I'm talking studio 20's v4 from 2004. In 2001 that was $900 US. CAD has made up a lot of ground lately on the $.

No kidding... Wait until the peso trumps the usd... Nice economic times we live in today eh?
Since you guys were talking above about pricing for used speakers, I'm wondering what I should expect to pay for a used pair of Studio 100s v2 in great condition? Also, a used Studio CC v2 and a pair of Studio ADP v2? Thanks in advance.
Thinking about selling all version 5 gear one year old studio 60 CC 590 sub 12 sa10. The sa 10 s have never been opened what can I expect price wise? Edited by The_Spyder - 6/6/12 at 7:52pm
I'm trying to decide what to do for surrounds in my room but I have one side that's really tough for placement and I'm wondering which direction I should go. I've attached a rough diagram of the room to assist. Basically, I'm considering buying some used Paradigm Studio ADPs and wondering if they may work on the rear wall since I'm missing one side wall (open to the kitchen and breakfast area). Because I also have a series of windows along the rear wall, this would result in one side of each ADP firing directly at, and about 4 inches away from, the small side wall. Is this workable, or am I more likely to be happy with a direct radiator out of the corner. Obviously this isn't ideal, but what do you guys think, will the ADPs work or should I look for some Studio 20s (or another brand) for the surrounds? Also, I have to do wall mounted for the surrounds as the kids would quickly destroy anything I put on stands.
Personally I would go direct. In that room. My room has issues too with ADP being open on both sides yet different. Just not convinced they'd sound like they should so I went with 20's. You'd be better off doing the same I think. ADP's are great for movies, but do you like concerts or SACD or dvd-audio or music in general. ADP's are more of a movie type sound than music. That's the other reason I went 20's and not ADP.
