Hi Paradigm crew,
Heard some Atom v/7 today and really liked them. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on Paradigm. Is there an alternative V of the Atom you'd recommend?

Also - what would you pair with them as a center and sub?

Thanks!

How much is a fair value on a pair of Studio 60v5 (piano/gloss black) in almost new/ mint condition? Purchased date is 04/23/2012.
^I've seen a couple of pairs sell on EBay and Audiogon for something like $1500-$1700, plus shipping.

Thanks for the reply.
Bought it for $2598 + CA tax (piano/gloss black finish added $200). It's 2 months old and the best I can do is 35% - 42% loss? I was thinking more like $1800-2000. mad.gif

I just double-checked. The most recent pair (mint) on eBay sold for $1645 plus shipping, here in the US. That's pretty consistent with what I've seen before. You might be able to get more - all it takes is one buyer willing to pay more.

I won't comment on the sub, but with the center I'd go with the Center 1.

The Center 1 will go nicely with your Atoms. Sub? How much do you want to spend? I replaced my 14ish yr old Paradigm PS1200 with a Rythmik FV15. Night and day performance. Go with an Independent Dealer for your sub.

My current setup includes Paradigm Monitor 7s (v1) for front left/right, Titans (v1) for rear left/right and a CC-200 center. I will be moving soon and plan to wall mount the TV in the new house. I would like the center channel speaker to be mounted below the TV on the wall. Obviously, the CC-200 is too deep to wall mount, so I am looking to replace it. I plan to keep the remaining speakers.

I am looking at the Cinema 400. Will this match well with the existing speakers? Would it be worth paying an extra $200 to step up to the Millenia 20?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pete

The ones that sold on eBay for 1645.00 plus shipping where 2 1/2 years old also , I have a pair also in Black Ash that I opened 2 weeks ago and I would take $1950.00 for them local pickup .

I will probably end up keeping them due to having to take a big hit on them.Or have to toss in the CC-690 for a decent price in order to sell them

Hi Pete,

I got Millenia 20s as LCR and Sub SE and I love them! I have the center hidden in the media cabinet which has top drawer designed for that, with fabric. Left and right ones are wall-mounted - see pics here My home cinema "R.A.V.E.N." if interested.

2 1/2 years old but mint condition.

I have never seen black ash v5 60s sell for more than about $1500USD. Good luck getting $1950 when dealers frequently sell new ones around that price!

Thanks Randy. I got a good deal on a Millenia 20, pretty close to the retail price of the Cinema 400, so I bought the Millenia smile.gif

One more question - does anyone have any advice for wall-mounting a pair of V1 Titans? They don't have pre-drilled mounting holes and from what I understand the newer versions have additional bracing inside. I assume I will have to go with a shelf or some kind of adjustable bracket. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Pete

Just got my 490cc for my Studio 10v5's. These are sweet sounding speakers.

I recently purchased the Paradigm Studio CC-490 v5 and a Denon AVR 3312ci. I'm looking at a pair of used Studio 20 v3 and "think" I might get a pair of used ADP-470s. A couple of issues. I would like some help in completing my system and would appreciate any recommendations.

Here are my specific questions in addition to any general advice:
1. Will the Studio 20 v3 be a good timbre match with the CC-490 v5?
2. Should I get the dipole (ADP-470 or something similar) or an addtional Studio 20 pair for the rear surrounds?
3 Finally, can I go with an ADP v2 rather than the 470s... I'm not sure how much has changed in the surrounds throughout the versions.

Thanks!

Nice! Did you buy new or used? Been planning on getting a 590 to go with my 10's, but may go with the 490 to save some cash...

Man I never realized Paradigm has gone up so much in price. Last few pair of studio 20's have sold for $730 range shipped. I could've bought them brand new for that 8 years ago when they were out. I think so many would rather buy them than new set because of the price increase. I paid $1800 brand new for my stupid 100's and now the new ones selling for $2800 and people think thats a killer deal. It's like holy cow am I glad I got in when I did. Not sure I could afford an entire set like I have now.

You can thank Ben Bernanke and his money printing. Paradigm's prices are exactly inline (on a percentage basis) with how much additional money has been pumped into the economy.

hi,

i buy a new speakers for paradigm . monitor 9 S7 , surround 1 and center 1 and i have some ques.

1- what is the best AWG for wire for them ( max length will be 35 ft) ? and does i need to be all speakers same AWG ?and there is a good / recommended brand for wire.

2- if i want to make the system 7 channel are the atom speaker best optional for that ( note, room volume = 2750 cu ft) ? and if yes , are the surround 1 will be back side or side ?

3-does i fill any difference if i use a bi-speaker for monitor 9 ?

4-until now i don't buy a sub. , are PDR-80 good choices ?

Bought it new at a local dealer. The 490 is plenty for 10's. It is a hefty well built speaker.

It depends on the size of the room you are trying to fill.

Hi, I want to ask, this is my little room and this is my speaker surround configuration right now

450

450

As you can see my room is small, so right now I´m upgrading speakers in the front I will have JBL L820 and LC2 center, but in the rear I want the Paradigm ADP-390 v6, do you think they will sound good in the same position as my Polk Monitors?. I can´t put them in the sides because in one of the sides there is a window.

Also, do you think the JBL will blend good with the Paradigms?.

Any feedback will be appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hey fellas, I have "Paradigm Studio ADP-590 model" side speakers and been having problems with them rattling a lot of the stock clips. I have to get up before every movie and push them down more snug. I was wondering what some of you were using to hold these up (speaker mounts) that I could mount on my wall and not have rattling type issues. Thanks!

Thanks.

I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

I think you are OK if the front 3 match. That is very important.

The 390 surrounds are "Dipoles" which are recommended to be installed on the side. I would recommend getting a direct radiating Paradigm to replace your Polks.

Can you mount the surrounds in the rear?

Please get other opinions before you use mine. Good luck, ayrton

The ADP's work well mounted in the corners at a 45 degree angle in a situation like yours. Some simple corner shelves could do the trick.
Or you can put them on the wall behind you there, in either case mount them 1.5 to 2 ft. above your ears.
Thanks for the answer. If I let them un that position will they sound bad or can they generate a null spot somewhere un the lustening area?

I ask these because os complicated to put them in the corners. I think try myself and if I don`t like ir I will make the corner shelves

Sorry for the mispelling my cellphone dictionary is in spanish

Either place you put them I think the ADP's will sound much better than the speakers you have now. ADP's are great for smaller rooms and seating positions that don't allow you to place speakers in optimal positions. They help spread the sound around the room more than directional speakers like the ones you have on the back wall now. My living room is only 14' wide and directional speakers were way too "obvious" as to where the sound was coming from. Especially if you weren't sitting in the sweet spot. Switched to ADP's and ... big improvement... much more transparant surround field. I liked them so much I got two more for a 7.1 setup.

I'd try to place the ADP's in both locations and test the sound. Just set them on some boxes or stools and try them out, see what position you like best. I think you will be pleased.

Paradigm speakers and Anthem processors have sparked an interest in me and I'd like to know more. I've read all the reviews via google search on the internet but am still not fully satisfied with the information currently present in the form of reviews. I am interested in raw real world performance and am not biased towards any brand(s).

Glad to see a Paradigm owners thread here and I realize that some members of this thread may be officials of Paradigm.

I have a few questions pertaining to home theater:-

1.) Does anyone here have any idea how the Paradigm Signature S8 v3 and Signature C5 (for front left centre & front right) perform compared to to KEF Reference 207/2 and 204/2c combination or for that matter KEF R900 and R600c combination ? I have looked everywhere on the net for this comparison and cannot find it. The reason I am asking is that I have heard the KEF Refs 207/2 and 204/2c and liked them and hence they have become my reference for comparison. I am very interested to know how the Paradigm signature series compare ?

2.) How does the Paradigm Signature ADP3 perform when used in conjunction with S8 v3 and C5 ? I am referring to side surrounds and rear surround speakers. I actually prefer direct radiating speakers rather than dipoles as sound sources can be identified more precisely compared to dipoles which are designed to diffuse the sound. In which case, would I be able to use the Millenia 30 speakers for the surrounds ?

3.) Anyone that owns a Sub 1 or Sub 2 in a Paradigm Signature setup ? - How do they perform ?

4.) What is the power rating of the S8 v3, C5 and ADP3 ?

5.) Is the Anthem Statement D2v, P5 and P2 adequate or idea to run a 7.1 Paradigm signature based home theater ?

6.) Can the P5 and P2 be coupled with the AVM50v ?

Any help or input will be much appreciated.

I can help with a few of these but that's it

Only ever owning one Sub which in my case is the Sub 2, it pounds and I am only using a 110v line. I have heard other subs but I can not compare because of room and I personally have never owned another HT sub.
5.) Is the Anthem Statement D2v, P5 and P2 adequate or idea to run a 7.1 Paradigm signature based home theater ?
That is my future setup. Don't know when yet but hopefully sometime in my lifetime. From what I understand the P series amps have tremendous clean power.
6.) Can the P5 and P2 be coupled with the AVM50v ?
I don't see why not. Any amp should be able to pair with the AVM50v and vice versa assuming they both have the required connections whether it be RCA or XLR.

I recently had the opportunity to demo a new pair of Studio 100's and Studio 20's. I am not sure what version these were, but I know that they were brand new, as my dealer just got them in. I must say that for music, I really liked them alot. For movies, I am not sure how I feel about them. I was only able to watch a few clips through the Studio 100's, and there was not center channel speaker hooked up, so the salesman switched the receiver to "phantom center", there were also no surrounds, just two Studio 100's. The one thing that really stood out on these was the fact that they were so detailed and clear. You could hear the little background noises very well. There was a scene with a football player running through a football field and the sound of his feet running through the grass and stomping on the field and they were so clear and distinct.

I also demoed a full Klipsch 5.1 RF-7ii setup directly before the Paradigm Studio 100's. To me, the Klipsch RF-7ii + RC-64ii, sounded more full and seemed to have more weight to it. But, what the Klipsch setup had in weight and fullness, they lacked the detail and clarity of the Studio 100's. Since these demo's a few days ago, I am extremely torn about which I liked better. To be fair, the Paradigms were only in stereo (2.0) for the movie demo's, and the Klipsch were full 5.1, so with that being said, this was not a fair comparision.

I wish that the Studio 100's had a fuller and deeper midrange and low end. Now I am curious as to how the new Paradigm CC-690 sounds compared to the Klipsch RC-64ii. Have any of you guys compared the two? Do you guys think that if the Paradigm setup had the CC-690, ADP surround, and a proper subwoofer, would they have sounded fuller and more lush in the midrange? I wish I could talk my dealer into putting the CC-690 out on display for me to listen too, but, he said that they do not have room. frown.gif
