Hey Guys, just wondering, are the Studio Series rears, ADP-590, are they Dipolar or Bipolar?
The ADP designation indicates the speaker is an Adapted Dipole model.

So what exactly does that mean?

One of my tweeter (metal dome) from the Studio Reference 60 v.1 fell apart but still works. Today I'm getting a soft dome 'equivalent', but I'm sure it will have a slightly different sound. I'm just replacing the voice coil and dome assembly for both front speakers, In an all 7.1 paradigm ref. setup.

Still have my Studio's (which I love) that I bought back in '99 and wanted any opinions if it's time to upgrade or not.
The ADP speakers are not truly dipoles; they're a combination of direct firing and dipole. There's only one woofer and two tweeters and midranges. The dipole radiation pattern is dependent on frequency, since the tweeters and midranges are wired out of phase.

Ahh, i see. So it is kind of best of both worlds.

Which version of the Studios are these? If you are going to upgrade to the current Studios I would wait until 2013 when a version 6 is expected. I wouldn't want to upgrade now and have the new version come out so soon.

I have a question for the masses. When do you think, know or believe you have achieved hi-fidelity? As I sit here watching a concert(Legends live at Montreux. Eric Clapton, Steve Gadd, Marcus Miller, Joe Sample, and my personal favorite David Sanborn.) I started wondering about this as I went from negative db's towards positive db's. Is this what hi-fidelity sounds like. Music gets louder but stays undistorted and does not fatigue the ears. Just interested in opinions.
For what it's worth I talked to my store and they didn't hear anything from Paradigm at CEIDA about v6 Studios coming anytime soon. Regardless, I'm going to at least see if CES heralds any news.

Also, can I just say the price hikes on the 60/100s are crazy. It's like 20%!

I find it hard to listen carefully at excessively high volumes. It doesn't tend to reveal more detail for me.

Anyone considering picking up the new powered Millena Ones as computer speakers?

I'm trying decide between the A2, these or something from Focal XS, or Focal CMS.

If you have a tuned system then 0 db or reference is always a good place to be...

Yea, no news about a version 6 Studio line at CEDIA. I was the one who started the version 6 rumor months ago, as direct word of mouth from my regions Paradigm rep was "the Studio line is our next focus of upgrade, with plans for announcement/demonstration slated for the start of 2013". My dealer said this implies Paradigm would wait for CES to showcase a new Studio line. Of course, this conversation between me, my dealer, and the Paradigm rep took place back in March, so we all know a lot of setbacks are possible in that amount of time.

I myself really want to make the step up to the Studio line, but am caught between waiting for a possible version 6 to be released or snagging some used 100's and CC-690 for cheap. Just not sure what improvements Paradigm could make to the Studio line without crossing into their "Signature" territory/price-point.....and if said improvements would really be worth it (like difference between Monitor v6 and Series 7) or more just a standard evolutionary step (like difference between Monitor v5 and v6).

Decisions, decisions.

CEIDA video says they are plastic cabinets and aluminum feet. I presume rest is the same. Video didn't say anything about sub.

Seems like you might be better off picking up 2 regular MilleniaOnes.

There are two versions. Millenia CT is lower-end here for $799. Judging by the specs, the CT speakers clearly have a different sub and / or performance from the regular MilleniaOnes.

This is the one I am talking about, Millenia One CT, which is closer to if not identical to the regular Millenia Ones. It states the speaker bodies are aluminum.

Maybe the rep is wrong, but he says they are plastic - around the 8 minute mark.

Maybe the cheaper versions are plastic. Mine are built like a tank with no plastic.

In the video I linked above the rep also says with the special edition they tried to clean up the Studio line, so I wonder if it's an indicator of where the Studios are going. otherwise sounds like a lot of work for a small limited run. i would think the manufacturing processes will be folded in to future lines.

There are two new products. In the video he is talking about the cheaper Millenia CT $700, which is a plastic body. I am talking about the Millenia One CT $1200, which is the more expensive model and is still an aluminum body. Both are linked in my previous post. The product page indicates aluminum for the more expensive product.

I was at an audio store today auditioning PSB's flag ship speaker by the way sounds good but thats not what i wanted to mention, I was als listening to the Sig8's too and the rep told me that Paradigm has another speaker coming out, its higher than the signature line costing about $15'000 he said he did not have much info on them. They might be at the Taves Show next week. i will be going to see the aniversary edition which i have heard sounds amazing. The anivarsary edition is limted edition only a few will be made.

If anyone has info on these new speakers that is supposed to be even better than the sig8's please post, its not the limited edition ones, the sales guy will try to remember so info for me.

These are all excellent speakers in a similar price range. You will need to listen and decide what sounds best to you.

All good choices on paper. Now my best advice ( you'll here this from others) is to go listen to them all if possible. Your ears are your best source . I was sold on a klipsch setup until I went to listen to them. I left the store not knowing what to do. Ended up at a dealer who had the paradigm monitor series that met my budget and sounded much better than the klipsch to me. So again go listen and find what sounds best to you within your budget. If my budget ws larger I could of gone with another model, but ultimately budget and ears are your best gauge. Make sure you take music that you know well. Good luck and happy decision making.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realize there were 2 new products.

No problem. I am just very excited for the new products and to see Paradigm availability in the Apple Store and at Crutchfield. Hopefully Anthem receivers will follow; I would have already upgraded to MRX700 or Anthem A5 if it were as easy as ordering from Crutchfield.

So basically it looks like this is the year Paradigm sells out.
