In fact, when my sisters Sony TV went out a few years ago (under warranty), I was the one who arranged for repairs via our areas certified repair company. I was also the one who was at her house when they came over to fix the TV and all they cared about was the serial # and the original receipt. Didn't ask to verify who I was or ask for proof that I was the original purchasing. Just having the receipt was all they needed as that allowed them to bill the repair costs to Sony under coverage of warranty.
I guess my question is how does a company know? If I send in a Center 3 that someone else originally bought but include the original receipt, how does Paradigm prove that I am or am not the original owner? Doe they ask for proof of ID?
I understand it says the warranty is non-transferable...not arguing that. Just wondering if it is even something that is checked/verified when an item is sent in for repairs under warranty, and if so, how?

I'm not sure this clause is always enforced, but it is a way to get out of repairs. When my Panasonic TV was serviced under warranty it was done through a 3rd party repair company authorized by Panasonic. They verified both my invoice & id.

One more thing is after audyssey with my onkyo 3009,it recommend speaker configuration for front and center 40hz,surronud 80hz,should i leave it there or i have to gain it to 80hz for all speakers?
Thanks in advance..

Set your crossovers at 80Hz and the speaker size to small... you could go to 60Hz. Do you have a sub? While I don't have ADPs, most people seem to recommend placing them 1 to 2 feet above ear height and at a 90 degree angle from the main listening position.

I have a 11 x 12 room, but not sure if even the Studio 10s will be too dominant or overkill for my room. I want to set up a 5.1 system but think they are too imposing. Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Imagine 4 Studio 10s and a CC590...

Here in Canada, I did some reading. I was looking online at some prices from another province that were good compared to my local dealer. The dealer was authorized and would ship the speakers as well. The catch, you must buy your Paradigms from your specific region/area or the warranty is void. Talk about BS, we're not even talking different countries here, I think that is rediculous.

My bedroom is 14x13 and went from the big 5.1 Klipsch RF7 setup to the Studio 10v5's For raw power the RF7's will win everytime. The studio 10's are just so clear and clean.

What does everyone think about paradigm's subs? Are they worth it or should I look somewhere else for better subs/price?

I absolutely love Paradigm's subs. I have two of the old guard, the long discontinued Servo 15a's and to this day they continue to go strong and perform wonderfully as my stereo subs. I also have the recently discontinued Sub 25 for my LFE channel which is just a whopper of a sub in a relatively small package i.e same size as the servo's. That thing has some crazy power on tap. Curse you Paradigm for discontinuing the Sub 25. You do bring up a good point about are they worth it because over the past few years the prices have noticeably started to rise but I still believe Paradigm subs should always be considered whenever in the market for a sub.The Sub 15 and Sub 12 are probably the sweet spots in the lineup now.

I am running two sub 10`s. I really like them in my room which is 14 by 17. But they were expensive at $799.00 apiece.

Paradigm's subwoofers are fantastic....but they come at a premium price. There are good online companies that can match (and slightly exceed) each lineage of Paradigm subwoofers (Monitor, Studio, Signature (except the Sub 2, that thing is BEAST)) for less money but most of them are just the subwoofer, amp, and box with little aesthetic look to them, whereas with Paradigm you get years of R&D research (the new Monitor Subs having the corrugated woofer to allow deeper extension without making the woofer size bigger or needing more power) and stellar looking finishes/cabinets.

It's a trade-off. If you are on a tight budget you can get just as good a subwoofer from an online company, but it's literally just that: a subwoofer. If you have the little extra to spend you can get a Paradigm sub that performs just as good but also has a great aesthetic appeal and the backing/research of high-end audio company.

What other non-Paradigm subs would you recommend? I've been looking at the Hsu subs... specifically the ULS-15 and the VTF-15H. However, I know there are other good on-line subs.

I have read and heard about the sub 2 and would love to have one.

I love my Paradigm Studio SUB 12, it really rocks my basement home theatre! But I have no experience with other subs, so hard to say if it is better or worse in its price range. But I'm totally happy and that counts most.

My SVS PB12 NSD does a good job.

Before I fell into a deal on a Like New Sub 25, I was looking at Rythmik subs. Their subwoofers are all servo-subs (like the old Signature Servo's), so they have very tight and clean bass. The Rythmik F15 subwoofer is rated at 14Hz (-2dB), is a simplistic design (19"x19"x20"....basically a cube), and is only $975.

Granted, the other big thing I forgot to mention is non-Paradigm subwoofers do not have anything close to PBK correction. That is a HUGE plus for Paradigm subs, especially if one doesn't have any other form of room correction built into their receiver.

Sub 1 is also quite impressive. Six drivers in a hex cabinet. I'd be interested in knowing what online sub comes close. I was looking at 2x of the JL Phantom subs, but they are around around the same price. Most other subs do not have close to the DSP power found in the Paradigm subs. Even Focal's Electra sub at the same price doesn't have the room correction.

I set the volume to 50% level to run PBK and the ARC room correction on my Anthem receiver and the room correction set the adjustment to -9db. I had to turn the volume down and rerun it. I'm not sure a more powerful sub would be useful for me --I imagine Sub 2 would need an even lower volume correction.

My Studio Sub 12 is amazing. I wouldn't trade it for anything...except maybe a Sub 1 smile.gif

I currently have 2 Sub 12 and if I had to do it again I'll probably choose a non paradigm sub. They're great sub but there are better subs for the money out there, especially since paradigm products just seems to be getting more and more expensive.

Dropped the price of my Monitor 11's to $1075 shipped
post #25639 of 28084
what are the older versions of the studio 20s worth? are the older versions worth picking up?

Anyone know anything about the limited edition speaker that is supposed to fit somewhere between the S1 and S2? Supposedly coming out in 2013 but dealer didn't know more...
I went to the TAVES show and the Paradigm rep said they are coming out with a speaker higher than the S8, and a new Studio series. I don't recall the date, but I believe it is next year sometime. Probably closer to the end of the year. Just for FYI, the Anthem guy also mentioned new MRX receivers coming out early 2014.

I just did some measuring and it looks like if I go with a CC690 on a shelve above my TV and a 6 inch space behind it to the wall it will be sticking out about 5-6 inches from the front of my TV. Does anyone else have a center that sticks out more than their TV and how does it look?
Well, looks like I picked up some S1s. Looking forward to hearing them with the Parasound A23. Hopefully this keeps me satisfied for a while...rolleyes.gif

I have been very happy with my Studio 100 v2s. with those, I'm not sure you'd want to run a 2.1 unless you have a pretty good room (in terms of acoustics and having bass traps) because they put out plenty of bass on their own. I run them at 125wpc (8 ohms), which seems to work well, but I'm interested in trying it with more power.

I have a Panny Plasma on a Salamander Designs cabinet with the Center directly below. Because the TV is mounted on it's base, it sits about 6" behind the face of the center. I don't see any problem doing this. (I guess my TV sits "Back" 6" from the speaker)

I would jump through all kind of hoops to use a 690.

Good luck, ayrton

Mine looks fine. From the front you can't really notice it, but from profile view you can see the size of the 690. Will try to snag a pic when I get home.

Pictures would be great. I will also get some pictures of what I have to work with space wise. Is 6in behind the center enough room or do I need more?

Hello all! Long time lurker here; especially of this thread. I just purchased a CC-290 v.6 center channel speaker, which will go with my two Paradigm Reference Studio 20 v.2's for fronts, two Advent rears and Velodyne 10" sub. I'll post pics when I get it (hopefully by Friday)!

I asked this question a few pages back... here's one of the responses, "On the spacing from the wall... I read somwhere (in this thread too, I think) that the minimum distance for rear-ported speakers should be something like 2 or 2.5 times the port diameter. My 690 is about 4-6" from some blackout curtains and I don't notice any problem with mid-bass bloat. Perhaps the curtains help prevent that." One other person recommended at least 12".
