Those are gorgeous. What's the price on the towers and bookshelves? Assuming they're between the studios and sigs?

The Inspirations would have cost me around $2800. I put half down on them back in Sept and gave up on them in Dec since i got tired of Paradgim pushing the date back. I went with Sig2's.

The towers are around 6k.

I believe the price is $6,000.00 a pair.

I pulled the cardinal sin and ordered the CC-690 V5 without demoing it first as I don't have a Paradigm dealer in my state anymore frown.gif Will the 690 match my studio 20 v3 speakers? I really hope so as I am so excited I can barely stand it.

Thanks in advance.

I know the v4 and v5 Studios sound almost identical since I own v4's and demoed v5's (and the driver compliment is the same, just in a different and better cabinet), I don't know about v3. Sorry.

I was hoping for a bit of insight into some of the center/bookshelf/surround speakers in Paradigms Monitor line.

I've decided to pull the trigger on Monitor 11 towers I love the way they sound compared to many other speakers i demo'd.

They will be used for primarily 95% HT use in a dedicated 12x26x8 HT room. I will be using either an Onkyo 818 or 3010, I haven't decided yet. And It will, for the immediate future be a 7.2 system.

The part im struggling with is the rest of the system,
Direction from the salesman at the dealer was as follows,
Center 1 X1
Mini Monitors X4

After reviewing the Monitor line it seems the Surround 3s might be a better option as well as the center 3.
I have the space/means for either choice, but im after trying to fill the room with very good matching sound.
Unfortunately I was only able to hear the Mini monitors and center 1 there.

Am I way off? Are the Minis/center 1 the way to go?
I have the Center 1 and the Monitor 7 towers. Those two blend very well together.
In your case, I would go for the Center 3 with the Monitor 11's. My local dealer has every monitor version that Paradigm makes, and I demoed the hell out of them before making my choice. If I had the space and money, I would have gone with the 11/3 setup.

I can't comment on the Surround 3's; as I don't have them. But I'd say that they would be the better option for rear surround speakers in a theater setup like you have.

Thanks that was my assumption, but i also hoped the guy with 25+ years in the industry wouldnt try to steer me wrong...

getsideways87,

With the advent of object-oriented surround formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS Multi-Dimensional Audio (MDA) for UHD "4k" formats (the latter may end up as the home standard as Dolby seems to be focused towards the cinema), the emphasis on timbre matching all speakers and going as full range as possible all around will increase.

Some are also stating that more direct radiating surrounds may be the right choice because of the pin-point localization of surround effect panning with this type of mixing (and the more speakers you have, the better these soundtracks will sound). Dolby and DTS also recommend having surround channel subwoofers, especially if the surrounds are not capable of lower bass frequencies with Atmos and MDA.

Think of the future (object-oriented standards for the home should be set this year or early next, but they probably will be similar to the cinema requirements) and make your speaker choices accordingly.

The more you know...

I'm sure he knows his stuff, but for a room that big with the biggest monitor towers? Get the Center 3. smile.gif

I didn't demo the Mini's or the Surrounds too much, because that wasn't what I was shopping for. I think both will sound great, but the Surround 3 might be more flexible in their placement. I'm sure either one will do a good job though.

That's odd I listened to the studio's and didn't personally enjoy them much more then the 11s, They sounded different but not necessarily better, especially for the extra nearly $2,000. he said thats also the general consensus on them that the 11s are the best bang for the buck, after that the amount you pay for better sound goes up dramatically.

I could tell a sizeable difference from the monitor 7 -monitor 11 Difference from 11 to studio minimal. I guess that's the beauty of our ears though is everyone perceives it a little different.

I have an existing set of Studio 100's V2. Would they match up with a CC-690 V5?

Thanks

He offered to add in the center 3 for the same price so i can't go wrong there. I don't think he will do the same for the Surround 3s though.

He told me the Studios Were 3500 for the pair so im guessing they were the 100s And i spent 4 different tracks comparing the sound difference between the studio and Monitor 11, Personally didn't think they were a better sounding speaker, except that they had a bit better balance, The Monitor 11 had the tendency to make the singer sound like they were right in front of you more like you were at the concert at the front of the stage, The studio still had great vocal crispness but balanced it slightly more naturally sounding. They for sure sounded different then each other but not that much better IMO.

Both sets excellently conveyed small details like brushes swirling on cymbals, and you could even catch the pick tapping the strings of the guitar in another track, Even tried the eyes closed test while the salesman flipped between several different sets and i always picked the studios and monitor 11s as my favorite two with very little preference one over the other. I'm Glad because if they sounded better i would be buying them instead, so my ears just saved me a couple Gs to put towards Higher end subs or sound treatments in the room!

Just bought a pair of gloss black Studio 100's and an Anthem MRX 700 AVR! Supposed to arrive next week. Hello Paradigm-ers!
I also am rocking some V2 Studio 100s paired with the 690 V4. I can easily afford to upgrade but see no need to. My sound is also equalized to my room so that helps. The only people telling me to upgrade are my kids! They stand in line for my hand-me-downs.

The shop Audio Video Today in Westminster, California said it was extra $100 per speaker for the gloss black...
I don't think I will get the center. My living room is kinda small and I'm out of funds for a bit. My next purchase will probably be the Sub 12 when I save up enough money. (Wife likes listening to hip hop and pop).

Can you or anyone recommend a good center to work with my system that's somewhat flat? The TV is mounted above a fireplace which makes placement difficult. I want the TV as low as possible so there is no room below the TV. It will have to be mounted somehow right on the top of the fireplace..I know flat speaker cabinets will effect how full the sound is and make it more difficult to reproduce vocals as accurately...but there's just space constraints..

Shop said $100 more per speaker. I cant afford the 690 yet, but I plan on getting the Sub 12 next when I save enough. I have some space constraints too and that 690 seems huge!

You could save some cash by going with an ID company for the sub(hsu, svs, rhythmic, etc) and use that money towards the 690.

You think for 50/50 use (home theater / music) that a "cheaper" sub and the 690 would be a better choice? The way I see it you use the sub with both music and movies (probably not too much with music though), but for music I will turn the center off anyways...

well if your short on room go with the 590 center..

as for subs ive chatted with the owner of PSA power sound audio.. there in ohio.. and alot of people raving about there 150 lbs subs.. the owner is 1st class customer service and i believe
worked at svs subs for a long time..

seen many happy studio 100 owners with his subs as well...

alot cheaper than sub 2 from paradigm but i believe sub 2 is still the bad ass of the world...

your might even take alook at some amps in the future as well 90wpc in surround on your avr.. will work but seen some 100 owners happy with there emotiva amps as well..

cheers..
