Well I ordered my Studio 100's and my CC-690 center channel, should be a week or so till I get them.
So here's my first question of what may be many...
I will be using a Yamaha CX-A5000 Pre/Pro and Emotiva XPA-5 to power these speakers and was curious about other peoples settings.
Am guessing on running the Towers at 80hz and the Center at either 80 or 90hz, but wanted to know what "levels" you have yours set at in your AVR?
Is it better to set the "level" higher then turning up the overall volume?
Most of the time will be movies but do like my 2.1 channel music and like it loud.

Thanks

If that were my set up I would probably run ALL the speakers at 60hz. The Emotiva will be able
To drive all 3 speakers to levels that will be sure to satisfy you and have headroom to spare.

Congrats on your investment,it will be putting a smile on your face
For years to come. Please post your impressions once you get them.

Hey thanks for the response, do I need to that low considering the Sub I am using, which is awesome.

The Rosenut. Everything I have is black the stand, equipment rack, components, tv, sub ... was just tired of black and once I saw the Rosenut that made up my mind. Compared the Rosenut on the B&W CM10 and the Mointor Silver 10's, and the Paradigm verion is so much better and darker looking, not as red or cherry looking, goes good with my darker floors.

Hey do you have the feet attached to you center channel? If so how much does it add to the height of the speaker? It says the speaker is at 10", I have to make a stand for the center and have to measure just right so that it is just under the screen.
Also the feet are made to tilt the speaker up, right?

Thanks
I agree with porschetech. You will love it! The feet add about 3/4" at the back and about 1-3/4" at the front so the whole speaker is slightly tilted up. I made my own stand because the Paradigm stand was way too expensive. I made it using 3/4" birch plywood, two 18" long pieces of black iron pipe with collars at both ends and iron-on birch edging, After I built it, I sprayed it flat back. It looks pretty good and cost only about $30.00 for material.

Hey thanks for the info that really helps alot, I only have 24 inches from the floor the bottom if my screen for the stand to fit, knowing those extra measurements helps alot. And yeah they are nuts for the cost of that speaker stand...

Thanks

I agree. I have MA RX8s in rosenut and the paradigm finish is much better, more like the MA GX line. Congrats!
Of all the speakers I auditioned this year, the studio 100 in rosenut is still the best looking to me. The cabinet finish, metals, and driver colors just blend so well together to give it the look of a classy badass. Can't wait to see what the next gen studios will look like!

Yes the retail price IS nuts! I think it used to be about $399 list price when it first came out..........and is now $549 list (in Canada)..........just part of their huge price increases for existing products. I think Paradigm was sold to new owners several years ago........and they decided to raise prices.......the current V.5 Studio's went up about 30% or so over what they were originally priced at.

If there is no new Studio Series introduced at CES......I will be ordering a CC690........should know soon. I am currently using an SE1 Center.

Yeah I have my brackets on. Gives it a nice angle. I have my one sitting on top of a ikea bookcase that I transformed into a hifi cabinet

here's a not too recent pic of my setup. I know its not the perfect configuration, but the room we have isn't ideal for my equipment/speakers. its 2 ikea bookcases pushed together. I removed the middle to make it a lot larger so that I can easily fit my components. I have perspex covers to keep lil fingers away from expensive equipment. the apple tv sits nicely under the cc690........kinda stealth

pioneer elite 111fd
cc690v5 - piano black
studio 100v3 - black ash
sig adp1 - piano black
seismic 10 sub
panama 5400
arcam dv137
pioneer bdp-09fd
anthem a5 amp
anthem d2v3d
apple tv mk3
xbox 360

recently added.............xbox one and PS4

future upgrade is hopefully a pair used sig s6 or s8's (v2)

Nice! Like the perspex, though I've never heard of it.

Rusty...............yeah that took a lot of money and an even longer time to build that set up. Thanks for the compliment too smile.gif

Rust, I have a similar setup with the 5000, XPA-5, and 100s/690. I have the 100s/690 crossed at 60hz and think they sound great.

Thanks for the input I am going to run the YAPO software on the Yamaha when I first set them up and see what it comes up with then go from there...
In the Manual Setup under Level what do you have your L/C/R's set at?

Thanks
The 100s/690 levels are all at -8 db. Ypao had them set a couple db closer to 0, but I backed them down a bit because I felt they were too loud compared to the sub level when I was level matching.

Does anyone here pair paradigm's with an onkyo avr? i got the nr 818. I'm beginning to build a new 7.1 setup and looking at the studio 60 v5 for the fronts (studio 100 is a bit too pricey and also might be too big for my mid sized room). I was just wondering what would be the correct center pairing for studio 60 v5, the cc590 or 690? Would cc690 be a bit overkill when paired with studio 60's and should i go for cc590?
I was always told that the rear surrounds weren't that important and didn't need to be matched up with the mains and center. Well, I just bought the Studio 20's to complete my 5.1 Paradigm set. I have the Studio 100's, 590 center and the Studio 20's in the rear. I would have loved the 690 but it is just too big for the area I have. I have a Definitive Technology 15 inch sub for the low-end. I noticed the difference immediately after hooking up the 20s. There was a more fluid transition from the front to rear and perfectly tonally matched. They also made the overall surround affect sound more natural. The Paradigms replaced large Infinity bookshelf speakers. They were way more efficient but also tremendously bright. I will eventually replace the sub with a Paradigm but right now I need to look into new processors. The last couple years I've been concentrating on 2 Channel equipment.

I'd go for the 690. Yes it's a monster of a centre, but you don't want buyers remorse if you settled for the 590.

The 690 sounds amazing and everyone who has one will tell you the same. I moved up from a cc570v3 and it was a huuuuuuge improvement!!!!!
