On TNT HD, it should be easy, since anything from a film transfer that's not stretched is native HD.

it would be nice to have this as a sticky or something and have a master TNT-HD movies list, so that people dont randomly start threads asking if a movie is HD or not until TNT gets it through their heads to either stop false advertizing all movies as HD or do like HBO and air essentially all their movies as they claim...
HD or not their hacked up.Would'nt waste my time.
Okay, I'll bite.

To my best recollection movies in HD on TNT-HD:

U.S. Marshalls
The Fugitive
Gladiator
John Q
The Matrix
Demolition Man
The Negotiator
Saving Private Ryan
Enemy at the Gates
Fifth Element
Gone in 60 Seconds
Ocean's Eleven
HEAT
Thunderheart
Tomorrow Never Ends

ok, charles thanks for the info, i added a couple i knew to the list. Mods, is this thread appropriate for a sticky? I'll try to update this every weekend or as people report the movies in...
I don't recall Gone in 60 seconds and Heat being in HD, because I always flip over when i see either of those on the schedule and every time, i'm disappointed to see it stretched and upconverted.

However, you can add --

Donnie Brasco(playing right now) -- it was shown 16:9 and not its OAR 2.35:1, but I believe it is open matte because the picture looks VERY VERY sharp.

The Pelican Brief(remember this one and it was HD)

Hi, I know there are a lot of you who couldnt care less about non OAR, edited for time/content HD that TNT sometimes provides. But I am one (hopefully not the few) that does turn on to check if many of the movies they do show on the weekends to see if its HD or not. I was wondering if there was any interest to have a master thread to report what movies TNT shows are in HD and then post it to the top of the list. that way, when they repeat, someone can just check the thread to see if the movie listed as been already shown in HD or not on TNT.

I dont know.. what do you all think?

First I tried a list like this about a year ago. Clearly you don't see it as I guess no one did care to keep adding to the confirmed sightings. Judging from the post directly above, this has been tried multiple times now.

Secondly, when did TNT-HD get HD versions of the 4 movies above. I haven't paid great attention, but the last showings I saw of the above clearly were Stretch-O-Vision.

yeah, sorry i didnt see your thread, but i'm willing to put forth the effort and update it as required. We will put astericks or something next to movies we suspect as being HD or not. It would be helpful if this, or another thread was made a sticky at posted to the top.

I can confirm The Pelican Brief....the few times i've flipped over to it, it's been HD.

I didn't even know that TNT was showing The Animatrix, in HD nonetheless! ..would love to see them play that again some time.

Yes it was. Saw some of it last night.
I DVR'ed the entire Seagal marathon a couple of weekends ago (why I don't know) lol.

Above the Law and On Deadly Ground both looked like HD, iow the same quality as your listed Fire Down Below.

Now what would be nice if could keep this thread updated as to when some of the listed movies might be shown again.
this was the problem in the previous threads if you go searching. Major debate about what was or wasn't in HD. Few can compare the HD and SD feeds when there is a debate - and it also showed me why 14 Million will accept SD programming stretched on their new HDTV with no HDTV service.

Not going to happen. This is just normal stuff. Bump as necessary.

Bing!

well i thought the whole point of a thread like this would be to keep from cluttering up this place from unnecessary threads that start out asking "is xxxx in HD on TNT?". Obviously the mods dont see the value in sticking this thread and prefer the usual chaos. Had the other thread HDTVFanAtic started been a sticky, i wouldnt have started this one and added to the unecessary waste of bits. So, whatever... RIP.

Absolutely. I was amazed at how much difficulty so many had with determining if the picture was stretched (SD). You have to give credit to TNT HD for having the ability to snow so many people into thinking many of their movies and other shows were HD when in fact they were stretched SD. TNT has dealt a major blow to HD by demonstrating to every provider how easily it is to fool the viewer into thinking they are watching quality HD when if fact they aren't.

well, whatever is on TNT-HD, its a lot nicer than whats on TNT-SD. even if it is a cleaned up RGB feed of whatever the SD movie is, but competition principles and market forces will eventually make all channels format and display content in HD

If it was at all worthwhile, others would have kept the previous topics alive. They didn't.

Blue Streak (Martin Lawrence) is HD.
Thread Starter
Ok, I am *very* sure Blue Streak was NOT in HD. I did numerous checks back and forth and it was just cropped.
This was OBVIOUSLY HD. HD can be cropped.
Thread Starter
are you saying it was an HD transfer and cropped from the 4:3 SD frame? that doesnt make much sense nor does it seem consistent with what TNT has done with other films...
It was 16:9 HD, no stretching.

ok, added... under protest
