Sounds like a damaged optical block is your problem. Sony had a replacement program in place for the problem with these RPTVs. Sony's initial exchange/replacement program for this model set sets ended last October. Now, as I understand it, the best approach to getting help for your TV is through the "I Have a Defective Sony TV" Facebook page. The page contains info on how to ask for an offer from Sony for your out of warranty TV. You can see a variety of offers that have been made to owners there.
(I too would love to get a $1050 credit for my set.)
