I recently purchased some HDMI cables and the 5x1 HDMI switch from Monoprice. I've been trying to get everything hooked up via HDMI, but my Passport SA8300HD TV box WILL NOT work over HDMI. I always get the message "Your TV does not support HDCP, please switch to component cables". I've removed the HDMI switch and have it hooked up directly, and it still displays this message. I've disconnected power from the 8300 and turned it on, and it still does it.
It angers me, I know its not the cable, because I can see the 8300 bootup screen just fine in all of its digital glory. But as soon as I turn the thing on, I briefly see the little channel guide and then it displays the HDCP problem. Is it my TV? My 8300 box? I have no trouble using my upconverting DVD player, and my computer seems to work pretty well thus far as well with a DVI->HDMI conversion cable. I just don't know what to do here. Argh.
