The upgrade I did made the TV stable (it was wigging out sometimes, but has not messed up for over a year since).
However, it did not fix any other issues like the poor EPG, or a 4:3 letterbox zoom feature, or the lack of an auto aspect ratio when you change channels between a 16:9 and 4:3 source.
Im just very happy that my Dish Vip622 ATSC tuner addresses all of the faults of this TV perfectly. I only use the TV's built in tuner as a backup (The TV's ATSC tuner is actually better at pulling in weak signals than the 622).

I tried adjusting color with Digital Video Essentials and AVia DVD with the 3 color filters, but am having some problems. The only settings I could get where the red and blue were correct was R:10 G:7 B:10, but having the colors that high cause some extreme contrast and brightness.(have to put contrast at about 30) If I leave it at the cool or medium color setting, the filters indicate the blue and red being way off. Has anyone messed with the service menu color options? Also, if I right down the original RBG settings in the service menu, can I mess with those and see if I can fix the color problem. I thought I read that once you change the color settings in the service menu, you can't changei t back to the original. I don't want to F up my TV.

For the best results as a computer monitor, you should use an AGP video card with a DVI output that will handle the native resolution of the Olevia.

I have the Olevia LT37HVS and would like to use it as a monitor running 1366x768. Can you please let me know what AGP video card you are using and what Pwoerstrip Settings?

Thanks,

I have the 37" Syntax Olevia LT37HVS in my bedroom and am thinking of getting the sceptre x42gv-komodo. I'm happy with the olivia but would like the extra real estate of the 42" Can anyone comment if this would be a good upgrade? Or do you think I should just stay with the 37" and why? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Does any other PS3 owners have a problem with their HDMI connection losing signal for half a second everytime you start a game?

I have my display settings at 480p and 720p, and everytime time i start a game or demo the TV loses signal for a second then continues.

Been reading some other forums and some say its a handshaking issue that cropped up after a firmware update or something.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I returned the HDMI cables and went component, but they are showing some faint horizontal bands during black or bright screens, so it seems im destined to go back to HDMI soon :-(

I just hooked up my new Playstation 3 to my 18-month old Olevia LT37HVS with a Monoprice HDMI cable. I'm hearing a buzzing or crackle during any audio output, but no noise whenever there's no audio. The noise almost seems to alternate or pulse.

The LT37HVS hasn't previously had any audio problems with s-video or component sources (satellite receiver and dvd player), and this is my first experience with an HDMI source. Any thoughts on how to proceed would be appreciated.
Disregard, I just updated the PS3's firmware and now the noise has ceased. Or maybe it was the restart? Anyway, the LT37HVS's audio sounds more normal...

I have both of these sets.

I initially bought the LT37HVS at Microcenter & used it for XBox 360. Great TV, excellent PQ using the VGA input for the 360.

I too wanted the extra 5", so bought the X42GV-Komodo (also at Microcenter). It is not as well built as the Olevia, which is very solid - the Komodo actually seems a little flimsy. PQ for HD & gaming on both sets is excellent.

One caveat: I have problems with the VGA input on the Komodo; about once a week, I have to do a "factory reset" (available when you push 0-mute-1-mute on the remote) to "re-center" the VGA picture when it gets out of whack. I then have to put reinput the picture settings.

Anyone running this TV with a Sony Blu-ray or Toshiba HD-DVD player?
The BD-DVD player only displays a blue screen that reads "not supported" and the HD player runs for only a moment and then turns to the same blue screen. I turn off/on the power on the TV and then the HD-DVD will play another few moments before needing another reset. Both players are connected via HDMI switch with a Belkin pure AV cable.

I called support and they were useless.

Also, how are people upgrading the firmware on this unit?

TIA
i have mine connected to a ps3 via hdmi, no issues here. maybee you have a bad cable.
Same as Azzkker, my PS3 is connected with a Monoprice HDMI cable. I get brief (less than a second) flashes of the blue "not supported" screen whenever the PS3 is switching from the menu to the movie, as described in post 1777. But then everything syncs up and the movie plays normally.

Except, about every other time I play a movie on the PS3, the buzzy audio I mentioned in post 1778 occurs. I cycle the Olevia's power, and the problem goes away. The last time this happened, when the Olevia came back on, the PS3 was paused. I thought this was interesting since I didn't pause the PS3 before turning the Olevia off.

I tested different cables, lengths, types and even tried connecting an single RCA yellow video cable to a 17" small and cheap HDTV and the BD and HD worked... but when I connected the one RCA video cable to the LT37HVS, it would not work. almost as if the Olevia does not support HD/BD
post #1785 of 1850
The Olevia will not handle 1080p -- only 1080i. I've used both my HD-DVD and PS3 on the Olevia with not too much difficulty.

I think if you turn on the Olevia and then push and hold the PS3 power button for 5-8 seconds, you will hear a "beep" that means it has adjusted the output to match the display device. You can then go into the PS3 menu and experiement with the video settings (if the screen goes blue, the PS3 reverts to the last setting in approximately 30 seconds).

I too get the distorted sound over HDMI from time to time (turning it on and off sometimes fixes it). This is a flaw in the Olevia with HDMI sound that they have never fixed. I've just gone to using the stereo analog outputs.

Thanks for the information.
I do not have an xbox or PS3, Im a certified PC gamer.
The components are a Sony BDP-S2 player and Toshiba HD-A2. I will adjust the players to 1080p and test it. But why wont it display the BD and HD using a simple RCA video as the cheapy TV did?
sounds like you need to do a hard sync on the bdp-s2, but im not sure how you would do that. as others have mentioned, it sounds like your players are outputting at a higher than supported resolution.

sorry i cant be more help with your problem. you might try the blu-ray hardware forum for help on your player.

thanks

Can somebody post some calibration settings? I have this HDTV and stumbled onto the topic, and don't really want to dig through 60 pages of topics.

Can anyone who thinks they've achieved 1:1 pixel mapping please post their full powerstrip setting please? I would appear that there are a few people here who have done this and are ignoring repeated requests to pass along the info. I've successfully added 1368x768, 1366x768 (using the settings in the manual) and 1360x768 with powerstrip. Each of them fails to properly display test patters that verify 1:1 mapping. Are those of you who are claiming to have 1:1 mapping actually verifying this?

http://tft.vanity.dk/

The site above has a 1:1 test pattern. If the 1x1 b/w pixel pattern is not crisp and free of distortion then you do not have perfect pixel mapping.

Hi Guys,

I am no longer getting a stable picture from my DVD player and Wii connected to AV1 and AV2 on my LT37HVS. When I select AV1 or AV2 I get the picture for about 2 seconds and then the screen goes blue. I can get the picture back when I select 'view' in the control but the picture is blurred. I checked all the connections on the back and everything is firmly plugged.
Any suggestions???

Thanks for any input

My Olevia is starting to go out of whack now. I cannot get HDMI to work on any of my devices (RCA HD DVD player and Motorola HD DVR for Verizon FIOS). I only get the "Not support" message on blue screen. I'm thoroughly frustrated.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what route I should take to try to get this HDMI input fixed?
I just got a new Toshiba Hd-A2 HD-DVD player and movies play for a minute then drop out to blue screen. I Called Tech support and they said they don't have a firmware upgrade. HDMI works fine on my other TV set. I told them I already downloaded it and all ineed is the cable to connect to the upgrade port. They still claimed there was never a frimware upgrade for this model and it will not support upconverting DVD players. Nice customer service syntax!!! NOT!!

Does anyone know where I can get this cable online?

I have the same exact problem you have. I have read in other forums that a few other guys are having this problem too with the HD A2. Didnt see a fix yet.

Newbie here. I've searched the forums best I could, so please don't clobber me if this is the question that gets repeated every day.

I have an LT37VHS and a Dell D610 laptop. I want to use the LT37VHS as an external monitor to run a video slide show. I have no problem connecting the two and getting a display. I also understand the limitations of the LT37VHS display, that it is 1366x768.

My problem is that I can't get the display to maintain the aspect ratio of my pictures. No matter if I set the computer's video resolution to 1024x768 or 1280x768, the LT37VHS zooms it out to the available width, thereby distorting the height/width of everything in my pictures. I'm trying to figure out a way to get an un-zoomed 1024x768 or 1280x768 image on the LT37VHS. I realize this will leave unused display areas on the sides, which is ok.

I've also tried the aspect and zoom buttons on the remote, which have no effect in vga mode.

I've always set the resolution to 1280X720 when outputting to my set. This fills the entire screen perfectly.

That's exactly my problem. The screen is actually 1366 wide, so if you send 1280 from your computer, the screen stretches the image to fit. That distorts the height/width of the pictures. I don't want the LT37 to stretch the image to fit, I want it to display only the resolution sent, even if that doesn't fill the screen.

OK, so what I learned from this thread so far:
1. Support sucks on this model.
2. NO firmware now or ever.
3. More then a few people are having the same HDMI issues (blue screen/not supported)
4. Give up on a workaround or fix to these issues. Only use this TV with a 720×480 DVD, a 1280X720 Computer monitor, or other non HDMI needs, especially HD/BD devices.

I will plan to make a new purchase and not a Syntex. I really had high hopes that this generic company would be star in a competitive business or at least better then Phony(sony).

When I output 1280X720 I don't see any distortion even though it does not match the native resolution. I have been abel to output 1360X768 but the picture does not fit on the screen. I've used 1280X720 and watched movies in HD from my PC to TV and it looked in proportion.

I feel your pain Mortee. I was really bummed my HDMI port stopped working, especially when it was out of warranty. I had purchased the Olevia 247T last wednesday but returned it after I purchased the Sharp 46" on Friday. I have read good feedback on the 247T though. I think Olevia might have stepped it up a bit with their newer models.
