It's about time this player got a thread of it's own. Hope that by now there's enough 7600 owners to share their knowledge and experience on this DVD player.
I have finally bought a HDMI 2 DVI cable and the picture is fantastic. No MB, noise and or evident jaggies(very, very slight at best), when tested with Fifth Element Superbit edition, the PQ seemed Perfect.
The sound through the 5.1 Analog output is clean, warm and the bass is quick and punchy with that overall expansive marantz soundstage feeling. Very responsive and dynamic, yet not rough and agressive as you would sometimes get from a Denon.
I have not had this player for long, so I will refrain from trying to describe its performance in too much detail for now.
-Here are Some Issues that I have, that other more experienced 7600 users can hopefully dispell for me:
1. When changing Audio settings, ie: From 2 channel(stereo) to 5.1 and some other settings, does the player require a restart, because for me it didn't play 5.1 without a restart, after changing this in the setup.
2. For multichannel DVD-A playback, do I really have to have the Digital out PCM/Bittstring setting set to OFF in order to listen to it in 5.1, why ?
3. Overall it's not a major pain in the A$$, but from time to time I get a feeling of instability about this players firmware/hardware ?. Like when I have analog 5.1 Audio out switched off and am using 2 channel stereo setting I still may get a click or chirp out of the surrounding speakers when switching tracks. Or a track might skip for a split second at times for no apparent reason(good disc), but this is very rare.
4. Do I have to switch the player manually from DVD-Audio mode to DVD-video mode in setup, or does it do so on its own ?
5. I listen to most of my stuff in streo so I have set the Audio out to (2 channel(stereo), however I only have component Audio cables plugged into the 5.1 Analog out nest and have not used the specifacally designated 2 channel stereo output located just to the left of the 5.1 nest.
