It's about time this player got a thread of it's own. Hope that by now there's enough 7600 owners to share their knowledge and experience on this DVD player.

I have finally bought a HDMI 2 DVI cable and the picture is fantastic. No MB, noise and or evident jaggies(very, very slight at best), when tested with Fifth Element Superbit edition, the PQ seemed Perfect.

The sound through the 5.1 Analog output is clean, warm and the bass is quick and punchy with that overall expansive marantz soundstage feeling. Very responsive and dynamic, yet not rough and agressive as you would sometimes get from a Denon.

I have not had this player for long, so I will refrain from trying to describe its performance in too much detail for now.

-Here are Some Issues that I have, that other more experienced 7600 users can hopefully dispell for me:

1. When changing Audio settings, ie: From 2 channel(stereo) to 5.1 and some other settings, does the player require a restart, because for me it didn't play 5.1 without a restart, after changing this in the setup.

2. For multichannel DVD-A playback, do I really have to have the Digital out PCM/Bittstring setting set to OFF in order to listen to it in 5.1, why ?

3. Overall it's not a major pain in the A$$, but from time to time I get a feeling of instability about this players firmware/hardware ?. Like when I have analog 5.1 Audio out switched off and am using 2 channel stereo setting I still may get a click or chirp out of the surrounding speakers when switching tracks. Or a track might skip for a split second at times for no apparent reason(good disc), but this is very rare.

4. Do I have to switch the player manually from DVD-Audio mode to DVD-video mode in setup, or does it do so on its own ?

5. I listen to most of my stuff in streo so I have set the Audio out to (2 channel(stereo), however I only have component Audio cables plugged into the 5.1 Analog out nest and have not used the specifacally designated 2 channel stereo output located just to the left of the 5.1 nest.

With this player I think I'am there. I bought it because I was tired of the denon mb problem and no fixes. I use the hdmi 2 dvi cable too and for my display it looks fantastic (Hitachi 42hdt50) . Analog outputs sounds very good and settings are easy too navigate. I just hope theres a way for using the hdmi 10 bit prossecing, because my tv use 10 bit prossecing. I only can use rgb expanded or normal, ther must be a way of doing it..

very needed thread.

My piece did not need the restart n will auto-detect if the disc is stereo or multichannel.

2. For multichannel DVD-A playback, do I really have to have the Digital out PCM/Bittstring setting set to OFF in order to listen to it in 5.1, why ?

No need to turn Digital out on the player to the OFF position, as long as you select 5.1 analog-in on your receiver when listening to DVD-audio or SACD. Also, hit the AUDIO button to switch between stereo n multi-channel.

3. Overall it's not a major pain in the A$$, but from time to time I get a feeling of instability about this players firmware/hardware ?. No such thing happen on my unit so cannot comment.

4. Do I have to switch the player manually from DVD-Audio mode to DVD-video mode in setup, or does it do so on its own ?

Auto-detect.

5. I listen to most of my stuff in streo so I have set the Audio out to (2 channel(stereo), however I only have component Audio cables plugged into the 5.1 Analog out nest and have not used the specifacally designated 2 channel stereo output located just to the left of the 5.1 nest.

Plug that set of front channel '1' to the CD input of your receiver, which was dedicated for that purpose.

Since I only have DVI input in my TV and the Marantz outputs 10-bit through HDMI and only 8-bit through DVI in the expanded mode, but I have a 10-bit processor in my TV.

So I am wondering if it's possible to buy somekind of an adapter etc. that would allow my HDMI 2 DVI connection output in 10-bit ?
If I remember correctly, most of the source information(DVDs, HD) available nowadays are in 8-bit color. The 8-bit is the max. what DVI allows n have nothing to do with the adaptor.

Hi ac388, I had compared the 7600 again and found better video performance, thanks for your advice. What is your 7600 video adjustment setting for projector, I am currently using Sharp Z201E.

For audio performance, what should be the setup on DV7600 to get best performance, I currently connect to my Denon 2805 via coaxial and the 2-channel L&R audio output

QUESTION FOR 7600 OWNERS ! - Need your help guys

I have recently encountered a problem and I wish to know weather it is my TV to blame or the 7600.

Anywhere I had recently bought a DVI 2 HDMI cable. Since my TV has DVI, which is also HDCP compliant.

The problem is such that when HDMI is 'ON' and I am using the HDMI 2 DVI cable to output video to my Hitachi 55" Plasma (input RGB1), when I try playing MP3 files off a CD, they sound great and work normaly as long as my TV is on ! Howerver as soon as I switch my TV off, or switch it to a different source ie: from RGB1 to AV1 etc.. The music starts skipping !!! So I must always have my TV on and set to RGB1 with the Marantz super audio cd logo and the MP3 playlist showing.

I assume that as soon as I switch my TV off or to a different source, the signal outputted by the DVD player is no longer interpreted by the TV's DVI input and is bounced back or creates some kind of electrical interference that in turn causes the audio playback to skip.

Please could someone who uses a HDMI 2 DVI connection with their 7600 test out an MP3 CD whilst having their TV off and or divert the source away from the DVI input and see if MP3 playback starts skipping, this also happens with DTS/DOLBY content, so any encoded material but not regular Audio CD's.

Hi Jacpat,

It is nice to hear you like the player. Did you do any AB test with other units ?

I am using an old AE500(ready for the new AE900), n doing the calibration with a DVE disc. I did my Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness on the projector n then Chroma, Gamma n other adjustment on the Marantz, which did have smaller increment than the Panny, so I can do more fine-tuning. I don't think my figures will be of any use to you, since our projectors are different, especially yours is a DLP. However, the standout part for this player is at the HDMI out, so use it if you can. I use Auto 1 for movies n switch to Video 1 or 2 for music video clips, to reduce the jaggies.

As for audio, coaxial digital out will take care of the regular CD n DVD playback, but you need to hook up the 6-channel analog out from the Marantz to the input of the Denon for SACD n DVD-audio playback. Originally, I don't care much about SACD n DVD-audio, but after I got that new Dire Strait 'Brothers in arm' multi-channel SACD disc, you will be amazed how good it sounds from a Receiver/DVD player combo.

I wish I can help you but I don't have any CD with MP3 files in it. It will be best for you to email Marantz America directly for this kind of specific question.

Hi ac388, I had my Denon 1910 and compared it with 7600 again longer time and film, then found the video quality much better.

Before I purchased it, I also compared the 9500 with Denon 1910 and also cross test them with Sharp Z201 projector and Hitachi TX100 projector. Under the same 9500 player, the Sharp provide better solid and 3-D image than the Hitachi projector, which provide little bit better colour. If you consider upgrade from 500 to 900, might be do some AB test with DLP projector which probably give you more incentive to upgrade to DLP projector. Even the low end Denon 1910 can show better video on Sharp 201 than Hitachi one

Hi noballsglory, I had encountered similar issue but on the video output. When I connect both the compenent to display and the HDMI-DVI to projector, the component output will play 2 second, then skip and repeat it. Once I completely turned off the projector power signal, then component can perform normally. I just called Marantz CS and they said this is due to the fact that the DVD player will auto-detect HDMI or component output, thus if both are connected, then the DVD player to continue to check alternatively component output and HDMI output. They said I either turn off projector power completely or switch off the HDMI signal from setup manual. They also said this might happen for CD playing but I did not encounter it yet. But in your case, it is the other way round that you seems to keep the TV on in order to get normal CD operation, may be you can try to switch off the HDMI signal/disconnect the HDMI-DVI link completely and see if problem still exist.

I don't think it is fair to compare 7600/9500 with 1910, n 2910/3910 will be more in line.

Yes, DLP was on the back of my mind but their 1280x720 entry level unit is still very expensive. That's why I hope there are more news on these new DLP from this year CEDIA.

No, you probably misunderstood. I am simply using a HDMI 2 DVI cable. Which also limits my video output to RGB-Normal and RGB-expanded, without true 4:2:2/4:4:4 HDMImodes. I call it HDMI output because my DVD player obviously outputs from its HDMI port.

However in my HDMI setting in the setup there's an option for AUDIO and it's locked at 'AUTO' setting. Perhaps changing it to off may kill the problem, since I have no need to output audio to my tv set and such is not possible over DVI anywhere.

I see, looks like Marantz put in a very irritable signal detection. For the record this problem is non-existant when I use component video, it only started once I connected the HDMI 2 DVI cable. Also unlike you I only have the HDMI 2 DVI cable connected and not both.
Marantz said that you could either disconnect the HDMI-DVI cable connection, or switch off the power supply of the display completely or turn off the HDMI signal on 7600 by pressing the setup button on remote for 2 second, which you could find the FL display show up and you could choose to on/off the HDMI signal. They recommend the last method, ie to switch off the HDMI signal. In your situation, since you connect the DVI to the TV, thus it is more convenient to switch off the HDMI signal on the DV7600 player rather thank physically discounnect the cable or off the TV power supply completely. This issue could affect the video and audio connection as well

Howdy,

I have a new Panasonic 32 inch TV with HDMI - my question is can it accept the 4:4:4 10 bit signal????

I have tried it and color seems ok but have not really compared with RGB normal or 4:2:2. The RGB expanded made color bleed a little but overall the picture of this thing is AMAZING. The sound rocks - very happy.

I just want to know if most hi def LCD sceens are capable of getting a 10 bit signal - i know nothing about what this does etc..............is it for hi def projectors or what??? If i do keep it on this 4:4:4 setting should i adjust the black level??

My LCD TV setup is contrast 77, brightness 56, colour 50 and sharpness 30. What do you guys use just out of interest???

Any comments would be appreciated.
4:4:4 sends 8bit data n 4:2:2 sends 10bit data. You should check on the menu of your Panny TV to see if its HDMI input will accept 4:2:2 or not. Of course after this selection, you still need to do the black level n other picture calibration by DVE or Avia.

Just curious, what player did you use before the Marantz ?
I had a Toshiba SD530E - cheap but did the job very well for the money.

Quick question - the Panasonic model is TX32500 - very new. But NOWHERE can i find this 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 info.

I have it set on 4:2:2 for 10 bit so i'm assuming it works or i would see anything?!?
I think you have to email Panasonic America to find out the info on the HDMI, since I don't think your local dealer will be able to help you out on this.
Hi guys,
I recently purchased this model and have an issue with it, and was wondering if anyone else has noticed.
when video is set to multi as opposed to pal or NTSC, there is a problem. When the unit is switched off (left in standby) and switched back on ther is no signal recognition no the TV. The only way to get the picyure to disply again is to do a HDMI reset. Now when I set the player to Pal it works Fine. Not to much of a problem because I live in Aust. and we use Pal here. But it is annoying because I do have a few Region 1 DVD's which are NTSC.
Now has anyone else seen this and is there a firmware that can fix this annoyance.
Also I have noticed that if component and HDMI are both connected that the component picture seems to skip and stutter. Not a big deal as you cant watch 2 pictures at the same time anyway.
Yes - i HAVE had that experience. Also when playing DVD music and then trying to play a super CD etc - you do have to reset as get no pic.

BUT - the other day it was really getting to me so i went into setup in DVD and switched from DVD Audio to DVD Video - haven't tried again to replicate problem but so far so good. I have a learning remote so made have turned on to DVD audio by accident and then tried a DVD etc. Anyway - try this setting and see if it helps.

Cheers, S.
I hav tried that but it makes no difference. The only way is to set the video out to Pal.
The tech at marantz told me they are trying to fix this but only time will I guess

Bought a Marantz DV7600 and put it through the paces on different formats.

DVD-Video: Incredible (I am using interlaced component out to a DVDO iScan Pro with RGB output to my 34" monitor 480p). Both DD5.1 and DTS pass through as Bitstream to my Rotel processor.

DVD-Audio: All discs WORK! No problems at all using analog outputs. Sound quality is incredible. Played every disc several times just to make sure and nothing but pure musical enjoyment.

CD Audio: Very Nice both SPDIF out and analog out sound great. PCM has the option of Bitstream out through SPDIF.

JPEG Slide Shows: Images look crystal clear with awesome color rendition and fill the screen (horizontal shots). Vertical shots have black screen on the sides.

DVD-R Home made videos: No problems at all (use Nero Vision Express to make from AVI digital video source and encode using dolby digital stereo and 5.1 channels).

SACD: Untested still.
Glad you like it so far Duc851. What you had before the dv7600 and how does it compare?
I just got the 7600 and everything appears to be working fine except 5.1 DVD-A. The player shows 5.1 output signals on the display, but sends everything to the left and right speakers. I have the digital output set to OFF. The Stereo version of DVD-A and Multi-channel SACD's play fine. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is this player defective?
I guess it just needed a re-start, because it's now working without a hitch. Performance-wise it seems to be a very nice player.

I hace an issue with forwarding DVD chapters - it tends to lock up everynow and then particularly if you go to fast - anyone else hace this issue??
