This TV (LC-37D7U) is amazing. I checked out power usage for several settings.TV off
Standby Mode 2 (TVGOS off): 16 Watts
Standby Mode 1 (TVGOS on): 36 Watts
Mode 1 is unnecessary with TVGOS off.
Mode 2 is problematic with TVGOS on.TV (LC-37D7U) on

The point remains - I recall a "Plasma uses less power than you think" thread.
Well, looks like the same is true for LCD, if the backlight is run at lower levels.LCD IS CAPABLE OF OPERATING AT VERY LOW POWER LEVELS.
