'Supernatural' on The CW HD (& syndicated on TNT HD) - Page 64

I was wonderiing if anyone was still watching! I too thought last night's ep was pretty good. And it looks like they now have to get rid of the key to keep all the bad stuff locked up. But this is Supernatural, and how successful will that be? I assume Dean will say somthing like "Well this is going to end well" and Sam will give him the meaningful look.

I actually thought that they were going to get some mileage out of John's dad, and was a little surprised how quickly that part ended. However, I wasn't too thrilled with how the character played out. Compared to Nicholas Lea's Elliott Ness this guy was kind of boring.

Me too.
Very intriguing to find out the boys are not really hunters, but PIMPS for hunters.cool.gif

5 bucks says they will try to use the key to help the close the doors of hell forever....it is what they are supposed to try to do this season anyway.wink.gif

Best episode in a LONG time. Wow, they could make an entire season out of the stuff revealed in this one and I soooo wish they would. Excellent!

Viewing the previews, I thought this episode was a rerun or something. Reminded me of some previous episode involving time travel, elder family members appearing in their youth, etc. Of course, it became obvious that it wasn't a rerun just a few minutes in. And yes, this was a particularly good one. Nice to see the bulk of opinions agreeing for once. cool.gif

yea, yea, I know. This consensus can turn on a dime, probably anytime now. biggrin.gif

Holy crap that was a good episode, again. I freaking LOVE that they have this new sanctuary, or as they called it, the bat cave. Opens soooo many possibiltiies. Just love where they are going with this now. Excellent!!!!

Spot on WilliamR ... Was that Hal Linden (of Barney Miller fame) in the recent episode? I have not missed a single eposide since it started and really enjoy the show. All of the characters are interesting especially Castiel and Crowley.
I hope they bring back that GIANT man also.

I got the impression we will see more of the Golum.
I think he will turn out to be a kick-ass weapon the boys will be able to use in the future.smile.gif

Dean is so freaking funny in this show, the little things he does just has me rolling at times, like the sword behind Sam's back, how he acted toward the guy he thought was hitting on him, some minor things but he pulls them off so well he really makes the show for me! Also glad to see Dean and Sam back to old form and working together and none of this who hates who this episode.

I agree.
Those 2 actors have great chemistry in the roles of Dean and Sam.

BTW, I found this for those interested:

Would be a nice HQ to close The Gates of Hell forever from...wink.gif

They should have had a real headquarters a few years ago. For many years, it was simply Bobby's run-down place.

True enough...but the boys are on a mission...wink.gif

Talking about Bobby, think how much fun he could have had with that library....

Got to say this was a series reboot. The first half of the season I had come to the conclusion it was time to hang it up. Too much infighting and too many repetitive stories. Now it a whole new game. There are so many directions they can go, possibly one of two more seasons of stories now.

I agree, the past two episodes have been pretty damn good.

Pretty sure that makes it the second longest running show on the network (including UPN and WB), behind "America's Next Top Model".

Smallville ran longer.

Great episode.

As it should, it's all going to fall on Sam's shoulders to seal the deal.

This is the perfect setup to end the series.
The gate is closed and the boys can finally have a "normal" life.cool.gif

I don't think it's the perfect tie up, if we have to wait a year+ to see it. The show has been renewed for next season, and they drag out the two remaining tasks out that long it will be very frustrating.

It could work.

Crowley finds out what the tablet says and that Sam has completed task 1.
He throws up constant road-blocks to stop Sam from accomplishing the other 2....moving heaven and hell (so to speak) to the gates open.

No way they could plausibly do that for the remainder of this season + the entirety of next season too.

I know they split Lucifer over two seasons... but one season was trying to stop Lucifer from getting free, and the next was fighting Lucifer after he got free.

Having a 3-step task, completing step 1... and then spending 1.5 seasons on the next 2 steps? That isn't the way they have done these sorts of things.

My gut says that they will complete the tasks, and seal off the gates of hell... but that it will come with a price. Consider... sealing the gates of hell means any demons on earth probably are stuck there... where can you exorcise the demon to IF you locked the gates of hell? Also, sealing off hell might seal off heaven as well... it might be a catch-22... so maybe nobody can go good OR bad if you seal the gates to hell permanently.

Otherwise... wouldn't you think God would have done that already? I mean, if the tablets are the word of God... then it seems like IF it were a good idea to seal off hell, that it would have come up before.

I agree with you, but also, don't just think about Heaven and Hell. There's also Purgatory. Closing the gates of Hell could open the gates to it.

Good point....except this series has done things in the past that defied "plausibility."wink.gif

Another good point.
However, "the boys" are not fans of heaven either.
Dean most assuredly (and probably Sam too) would say "f_ck it, seal both of 'em."

"God" in the Supernatural Universe is not a hands-on kind of diety, but an aloof and somewhat capricious god.

I thought God was still gone? They never said he came back. A couple seasons ago they said God abandoned the angels and was hiding on earth somewhere. I still don't think he is around controlling things anymore.

God only seems to steps in to "set a balance". Like when he saved Cass where there was not hope of him living. If another way is to be had, he seems to let it be. I just hope we see Death again.

Also a good point. There is a saying I have heard before... "when God closes a door, he opens a window"... that might apply here. Close the door the hell, but what opens to balance the scales?

God (in the Supernatural universe) created Purgatory and intended that to lock away the really dangerous stuff... vs clearly having a revolving door policy with heaven & hell that allowed beings to come and go as they please to some extent... but Purgatory had to be breached intentionally, and arguably was probably not in his "plan".

Agreed. We may or may not have seen God on the show... but he (she?) has intervened a time or two to balance things out. We don't know if God is "for" Apocalypse, but we can surmise he was "against" the archangels trying to force the Apocalypse to happen early... and while he probably was not "for" all of Castiel's decisions, he was not "against" Castiel either, since he has resurrected him.

So... it's the "plan" vs "free will" at work... and it seems like God is still paying attention and will step in to assist/nudge when things are WAY off plan.

"Okay, I'm nesting!"

God, I love Dean's one liners.
