Wow, sounds like a great price to me. Amazing that the prices are coming down so rapidly. Sounds like Mits is really wanting to increase their market share.

I'm not sure if this is posted in the correct thread but, can someone tell me what you guys think of the 62628. If no one has anything bad or negative to say about this television, I will be purchasing this tomorrow, taking delivery on Friday. So any and all comments I can get before tomorrow will be greatly appreciated.

I think the 62628 is an excellent set; I believe that it has all the video features of the higher end 1080p's. When I first saw this set at Magnolia HiFi a couple of weeks ago, I was disturbed by video noise in the picture. From what others have said, though, this was presumably because the 'Sharp Edge' option was set to ON (the default); with the relatively poor sources in a store one will do better having this OFF, as well as the other video enhancement option (the name of which I can't rememer at the moment).

I'd very much like to see a report from someone who has hooked an HTPC up to one of these sets via component or HDMI at a 1920x1080i resolution. I would expect that video material would look good, but would like to know how the desktop and text look. I would guess that the desktop image is sufficiently static that it deinterlaces quite well.

Well I couldn't wait any longer, I cancelled my delivery for thursday, and just went out and paid $140.00 to Uhaul and picked It up myself. I'll post later tonight, and put some pics up. But for right now, I can't get my jaw off the floor.......INCREDIBLE!!

Wow Wow Wow, I am In awe of this TV. For my first DLP, this Is everything I ever wanted In a TV. Sharp picture, great contrast, awesome black levels. This TV Is huge! I unpacked It today, hooked up the HDMI and Component cables. As soon as I turned It on I Immediately noticed the bright picture, so I turned the contrast down a bit. I then turned off the sharpedge, and got a smoother picture. It reminds me of SVM from the Hitachi. Hd Net was amazing, just awesome picture. SD was suprizingly good too. Then came the XBOX, The best picture I've ever seen for xbox games, and NO LAG! DVD movies are out of this world good. Fan noise Is little, It's like the same volume as my Dish 921, no biggie. The only complaint I have and I don't really care Is the little SSE I see. I don't even mind because the picture Is so good. I really don't have anything bad to say about this TV. I LOVE IT!! I don't think I'll sleep tonight cuz theres so much I want to see and play. I'll post a pic In the morning. Take care all you Mits fans. I know I am for life! C-ya

Rick471...that is an incredible price. Online retailers do not even match that and I have checked with four stores and the best price I was quoted was 5140.

Has anyone used AVIA to set the video? I used the blue glasses to set the color and tint. I have 39 for color, and 20 for tint. Should I trust the Disk, or trust my own eyes to whats good. What are some other settings out there? Thanks
post #41 of 5390
I have used AVIA with my hlp6163, but found it somewhat difficult. Sammies don't have as flexible color settings, so that may have been part of the problem. Sorry, not much help.
I think you have to turn off the color control in the SM to be able to set the correct amount of color saturation.

How do you turn off the color control?
I have a 52628 and used AVIA to adjust my settings. I ended up with Color-26 and Tint-21. Contrast was 53 and Bright at 39.

I've called two Magnolia HiFi's in my area, and they both say that they don't have the 73727 scheduled to arrive until next month. ??? What's going on? What are the B7M's that DO have them now? (Mag HiFi usually gets them as early as anyone. ?)
I went into my local dealer to find out the status of the 73727. The Mits Regional rep was in the store and he indicated the only tv's that are shipping now are the demo's for the retailers. Then they will start shipping customer orders in late October.

Wow, I'm lucky I got mine. I just wanted to point out that switching to "Auto" on the perfect color setting gave me a great result.

They have the 73727 now on display at Ken Cranes in Pasadena.... looked fairly good though you can never tell as they NEVER close the shades or have more than 1 HDTV feed on ALL the TV sets....

In the document, "Owners Guide, Projection Television Models WD-52527, WD-62527, ...",
please refer to page 18 (in the pdf version).

There is a figure "Back Panel" showing OUTPUT connections.

I'd like to ask about the outputs called "Record Output",
specifically the sentence:

"These signals might not be the same as those of the program
currently being shown on the screen."

The Question: What ARE the signals on the Record Output (Audio L/R) ?
Is it the "last channel tuned" by the internal tuner ?

I'm asking because I want to replace a 10-year-old Sony 61" RPTV that has
a very useful (to me) feature. The Sony has two sets of Audio outputs.
One is whatever is being shown on the screen, and the other is the audio
from the last channel tuned.

With two TV sets in the room, I have come to depend on this feature to
quickly switch the audio between two football games, or two of "anything"
where one is boring for a while. This dual audio output feature does not
seem to be offered on any of the current Sony RPTV sets, so I am strongly
considering a Mitsubishi WD-62627 or WD-62628 (what IS the difference?).

Do you have such outputs on the back of your Mitsubishi ? Can you tell me
how this feature works and what the signals are on the Record Output (Audio L/R) ?

Thanks for any information you can post.

After reading through the forums for a few days, it looks like Mitsubishi will
be a better choice for me than staying with a Sony.

Hey Millerwill, you still don't have one yet? Well I hope you get yours soon. I'm still loving every minute of mine. I have the contrast set at half now, It's just so bright at night. And I like the High setting for the color temp. I hooked up the HDMI for the Sat box and I did notice a Improvement In the picture over component. So right now my Inputs are...

HDMI 1-Denon 3910
HDMI 2-Dish 921
COMP 1- XBOX
COMP 2- XBOX 360 (Nov 22 )

Thanks for the info--hungry for anything I can get! There aren't any of the 73" sets out around the Bay Area (at least so far as I know); I would love to see one and play with its video settings, etc. I'm delighted to hear that your 73727 is plenty bright; dimness was one of the most serious complaints about last year's 62" Mits dlp, so I guess the 150 watt lamp does the job.

I am still considering whether or not I will get the 827 rather than the 727; it will be depend on how I like the frame of the 727 when I actually see it (still think I would prefer the all black of the 827, but that might change when I see them), and also on how much extra the 827 will go for. (On some of the internet sources it's only 300 to 500 more, but I don't know how reliable an indicator this will be for a 'legitimate' B&M.)

It would be great to see some pics of the picture on your set. I too am waiting for the 727 or 827 to arrive in my area to evaluate. If you get any pictures of this beauty in action it would be much appreciated!
