Official Pioneer 4360/5060/Elite Experiences, Set-up, Questions & Pictures Thread!!! - Page 166

I'm glad to report that my display is finally back up and running. The service rep came by last night and brought another customer's media receiver. We hooked it up, and sure enough, the display powered on and he was able to access the service menu. He then did a master reset which affected both the MR and the display. After doing this, we hooked my MR back up, and he was able to get into the service menu and do the reset again on both my MR and display. This solved the problems and got me back up and running. The only thing I had to do was reconfigure my picture and power settings since they had all reverted to the factory defaults.

Part of the problem we were having was that with my MR, he was unable to get the display to turn on and out of standby. Somehow, my MR and display were locked up and frozen. It took the action of using another customer's MR to get us past that hurdle. I did have a faulty board in the MR, but it was the digital tuner board and not the main board.

I will stay like that for a while till I unplug the power cord from back of the MR.

Now when I turn on the TV, same display comes out but the TV turns off after 30 sec or more. I unplug the power from the back and still get the same display.

How can I reset the MR to factory setting/defaults?

I think this is happening because I had a CableCard, then I took it out. Some how Ant/Cable A is till trying to read the card.

Everything is back to normal. I disconnected everyting from the MR for 24hrs and looks like its ok now.

Has anyone seen this console? It's awesome. When we got our Samsung 50" plasma, my wife said OK, but she really didn't want to see it. "Can we make it somehow suck into the ceiling?" "No." When we saw this at Costco, she said "We have to have that" and went home and started counting the change jug. The Samsung didn't let it go all the way down, but when I changed it out for the 5060 (SO much better) it was perfect. It comes with an RF remote, which lets you put it up or down. Many of the front panels are removeable, and come with glass, wood, or speaker grill panels. My center sits below the screen. It was a grand cheaper than the $2500 models I've seen in magazines. It also has a neat little light above the equipment that turns on via touching the right hinge on the main doors. Cool stuff!

Who makes this cabinet? I'd love it if they made something with more of a contemporary look to it.

The "company" stated on the box, and the label that's on the back of the unit I remember being different. Neither are easily accessible at this point, I don't remember who it was, sorry! I can tell you I tried looking them up online, but nothing came up. I also can't find the unit on Costco's website...which I guess is typical.

After months of planning, preparation, and work we finally finished our master bedroom renovation and Pioneer 5060 installation.

It's finished!

I built a full scale foam-core model. I also installed a bunch of cables in the wall which go up to the attic.

Side view of model on wall mount. It was well worth the effort to build this model because I used it to check everything -- especially to verify vertical height between center speaker and the sloping ceiling.

Wall is repaired, retextured, repainted. Plasma wall mount is in place.

All cables which go to attic and speakers are in this outlet. This is why I wanted the 5060 with media receiver where all these connections go to the media rack, not to plasma panel way up on the wall. Notice cat5e cable which will enable GigaBit Ethernet file sharing with my other two PCs. All 3 PCs have DTV tuner cards for HDTV recording and playback.

Lifting the panel into place. I borrowed the electric lift from my company. Notice that I used the bottom box and packing material from the shipping container. The plasma panel was already attached to the mount when this photo was taken. We had people on ladders, holding the panel while the panel was being raised into position.

A/V cabinet from Salamander Designs -- Synergy Series.

View of TV from the bed. Notice my feet in the photo. The TV is really not too high for viewing while lying on the bed. For this size room, 50" is not at all too large.

View of TV from the dressing area. Actually a pretty good viewing angle.

Contents of AV cabinet -- Media receiver, Yamaha receiver. PC with Silverstone case.

This was quite a large project but we are pleased with the results. I especially appreciate all the suggestions and information which were obtained from this Forum.

Good job. But, it's too high for me. For me in the living room, I prefer the set below my eye level. Whenever I have to raise my eyes and head to view for a long time, I get a headache. It's too much strain for the eyes. This is why I lean away from the wall/fireplace type setup. In the bedroom when lying down, the wall type setup actually works, except if you like to game once in awhile (eye strain), which I doubt you are anyways.

Couple questions.

I hooked up my 4360 and I was amazed at the pic quality obvisously. But then I noticed something. Earlier in the thread I saw pics showing the different viewing modes and in those angles being showed, the input display on the screen also indicated what type of resolution was coming through. Mine has been blank...have I hooked up something wrong....have I been getting HD content at all...Yikes

Also...my daughter is now tall enough to touch the screen and has. Any product to purchase or at home that can clean hand smudges and not just dust (like the one that came with the set)

Thanks to all

I bought a 1130HD within the last month and have found this site/thread very informative - especially the settings provided by members (DNice).

Is anyone using a Denon DVD-2910 with their 1130 that would have some baseline settings they could provide? I had the Denon previously with a Sony CRT, but never realized how 'bad' the colors/picture looks now compared to regular HDTV using the settings provided on this thread. The picture looks washed out & has a greenish cast. I'm playing around with a DVE calibration DVD but was hoping someone may have already dealt with this player's setup.

Proceed with great caution. The panel has an antireflective coating that is easily scratched or damaged with normal household cleaning cloths and solutions. Camera lens cleaning solution or any of the special solutions sold by plasma dealers along with a microfiber cloth is your best bet, but even this can do damage. You'll find a lot of discussion about plasmas and children by searching this forum. I believe that you will also find some guidance in your 4360 users manual.

Can you guys tell me the location of the "white wash" test pattern? Pioneer has confirmed over the phone that there is a test pattern to alleviate IR.

I have some IR that is annoying and I have tried several days of constant DVD watching with no avail. I know how to access the SM and I see a function SG Pattern but I am not sure which one it is or if this is what I want. I want a test pattern or cycle that will get rid of the IR. I know that I shouldn't mess with the SM if I do not know all of the functions but a service tech is going to be next to impossible around here and expensive.

Oh and my panel is at 525 hours so I thought that I would be ok to play a game in HD with some static images but the IR has come from a static "EA" logo from a game I played for 2 hours.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I know for certain that the 4360 has no "white wash" option in any of the basic menus but it might be available in one of the service menus
I have yet to mess around with that so I couldn't tell you.

I had to turn it on and off twice to get the picture and audio back. Maybe the computer went into stand-by mode and it triggered the "no-signal" warning to the tv. However, I was watching a broadcast, so it should not have done this. Once I turned off my computer and the tv turned off a minute later or so. Again, I had to turn it on and off twice to get the picture and audio. I'm guessing it has something to do with the power management. I turned it off for now.

Anyone with similar experiences?

My display turned itself off again last night. The computer wasn't on and I'm not using power save anymore. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the TV Guide sending some kind of reset signal to my display. Did this happen to anyone yesterday?

I've tried searching for the answer to this, but no luck.

I have a Pio 5060 never set up the TV Guide feature. Is this something that would be useful for scheduling program recording on a DVR or ?????? Thanks
post #4966 of 5593
I am having a weird problem that I want to put out there. I have a 4360 hooked up to a Camcast Moto box via HDMI cable. Whenever I am recording (2) programs on the DVR and go to watch a live program, the TV goes to mute. It won't unmute with either the Comcast or Panasonic remote. Only way I can watch while (2) programs are recording is to stop watching (1) of them. Any ideas???

Those of you with an HTPC, could you please tell me what resolution you are sending to your 1130. I set mine to 1280 X 768 but that seems to be too big for the 1130.

Thanks
mine is at 1280x720, but it is slightly too large for the screen so i found a setting that lets me scroll around. if i move my mouse to the border of the display and keep going, it scrolls over to show the rest of the desktop.

it is very little of the desktop that doesn't fit so i have just lived with this. the only thing thats weird is that on occasion, when i "scroll" over to the right, i get vertical bands on the screen, maybe 40 pixels wide that don't scroll. really weird. when that happens i just reboot and its fine.

if anyone else has a better suggestion for display settings please post.

6070,

Does any one know if there is a way to use dual screen pip and use the full 1/2 screen?
Also if not, is there any way to remove the gray background on pip?

Sounds like a similar problem to what I had a few weeks ago. I had to have a service tech come out and run a master reset on both the MR and the display to get me back up and running (in addition to replacing a faulty digital tuner board in my MR). The reset was done through accessing the service menu.

hi this is my first post but i've been browsing this forum for months now for info regarding my set......

back in march i bought the 930hd on the reccomendation of the sales rep at 6ave telling him that i was mainly buying it to play games.......so i bought it......about 3 days later i was hospitalized for 3 months and was mostly blind from a ailment.....so i didn't even use the set for like 3 months.....

now i've broken the set in .....and i've been notice alot of image retention after only a short period of time!!! 40 minutes you start to see it......by a hour and a half its so bad that you actually see color in the image retention!!!!!

this happens when playing any games......i have my 360 hooked up through component.....i've played regular xbox through s-video......and i've played ps2 through regular a/v......same result........i've also tried every mode setting on the tv.......and even lowered the contrast and brightness down to -20 and played for a hour just to see if it still happens and it does!!!

this happens on regular tv also mind you......while watching world series poker the other night for only 40 minutes i changed the channel to see the espn logo in the corner of the screen...........

this image retention mind you doesn't go right away either......it takes like 4 hours view another source to erase it...............

so anyway.........6ave of course wont take it back.....even though i bought the 5 year warrantee.........and even pioneer wont do anything.....telling me its just the nature of the beast..........

so i am just wondering if anyone else has had these same experiences........
because im convinced that this is not typical running problems........

i have the 1130hd and although i have seen some image retention before it is not common. i have my 360 hooked up to it and i have played for a couple hours at a time before and if there is any retention i really have to look for it.

there were only 2 times that it was ever very noticable:
1 was right after i got it and was still in the break in period and it was after watching espnHD for like 30 minutes or so. it was one of the shows that was 4:3 and espn put those weird bars on either side of the image. thos bars were visible for about 30 minutes or so after changing the channel.

the other was after break in my brother in law was over and was playing fifa soccer on 360 - i'm not sure how long but i think it was over 2 hours, and after he was done, the spot where the score displays at the bottom was visible, but that went away after abotu 20 mins of viewing other content. aside from that it is really a rare occasion that i see any image retention.

did you break-in the plasma for 200 hours
(full screen images, low contrast/brightness, save2 mode)?
what are the total hours on it?

you need to give more info if you want help.
I have a 4360 and want to access the service menu to see how many total hours I've racked up. Can someone please relist how to do this? I tried following the AV Forun info I had and couldn't get it to come up. Thanks.................
I game on my 4360 about 5 days out of the week and whilst sometimes I get temporary image retention its never permanent and its never anything like burn-in.
maybe you've just got a bad set?
actually i did break in the set using breakin settings from a early post....and i ran it the full 200 hours......the total time now is near 900 hours........so i believe i just got a bad set.....but neither 6ave or pioneer want anything to do with me...i did run just sd video practicly but always stretched out so it was full screen...

I don't think most people notice it because they use it just for TV, but it's there. You mostly notice it when you switch modes, such as to/from game to TV. I don't game, but I get IR when I used the TV Guide. After exiting the guide, it's easily noticeable when I watch black and white shows. I can't notice it under shows in color.

I have the 1130. Probably has 200+ hrs. (too chicken to play with the service menu). I always use the break-in settings and I even reduce the contrast/brightness/color a little more just to be safe. I ALWAYS get image retention on static images and if you look careful enough it will be there for days. My wife left the INPUT 3 banner active in the top right for an hour and I could detect it for almost a week on a grey screen. It will look yellow-ish upon careful examination. It has just now disapeared. I would never use this display for games as I'm certain it would behave exactly as yours and probably stay burned. Since this is my first plasma, I've probably been too critical looking for IR or BI.

I checked the manufacturing date and it was August '06 so it is not the batch that is known to have IR/BI issues. Either we both have bad sets (not likely) or it's just the nature of the beast.

Just try to view different material using the break-in settings and I think you'll be OK. Don't sweat it - there are bigger issues in life.

Good luck.
Recently, I have returned to my 1130 to turn on the system and have noticed that the power on light (the blue one) is blinking on the media box. Once I press the power on button (either on the media box or with the remote) the panel turns on normally. Powering off results in the proper light illuminating on the media receiver and panel (red light on). Then, occassionally, when returning, usually the next day, I find the blue light blinking on the media box. Any ideas regarding this issue would be appreciated.
