when you guys speak of "tuner" are you referring to the pioneer "media receiver" or the cable box tuner?

my problem is with faulty hdmi inputs on the "pioneer media receiver". i'm trying to find out if others have had this or other problems with their pioneer media receivers in less than three years of purchasing new.

When I say "tuner", I am referring to the ATSC (aka OTA HDTV) Tuner built into the media receiver. On mine, I can no longer pick up the digital channels, so I think it is now TANGO UNIFORM. The analog tuner still works.

On the HDMI issue I was having, I think I narrowed it down to a receiver cable interface issue. However, given the random nature of the phenomenon's occurrence, I cannot say for sure.

My digital tuner stops working from time to time. To fix it, I power the unit off, unplug the media receiver for a couple of minutes and then turn it on and try rescanning. I would like to know what causes this... but my box started doing that about a year or two in. My analog tuner always works...

I think someone told me that last year, but I had forgotten. Good thing I mentioned it, with the new TV season coming up.

Thanks.

Well after 2 1/2 years looks like my 4360 gave up on me. It starts up but it says "Please wait. Starting up." It stays on for like a minute saying that then it just shuts off on its own.

I tried disconnecting everything for like 3 days and nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?
I guess mine did.

I no longer have my 1130HD and miss the TV Guide, after all the complaints about it.
Any help please? I called Pioneer authorized service center, they asked how many times does the blue light on the MR blink? I counted it, blinks 12 times. Does that mean anything?

I used to get a 12 blinks and it would take a long time to start up (but it would start up) and it would turn itself of randomly it seemed. But resetting the guide and disabling it fixed that for me. Do you use the NTSC, QAM, or ATSC tuner?
How do you disable the guide? I tried using it long time ago but didn't like it. I'm not using the tuner. I have it connected component & HDMI.

I'm getting the damn random shut off and blinking blue lights.

It happened 3 times today. The first time, I would have been using the QAM tuner, watching TV after work. The next 2 times, were watching my DVR via my HDMI #1.

I noticed it once last week, and now 3 times today. I'm no doctor, but it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I need to call somebody to get this looked at.

You know, mine was acting up awhile back, then it stopped.

Damn...probably jinxed it now.

Hopefully you didn't jinx it!

I'll just have to wait it out. It sounds like I have options. It's not like I really need HDMI. I don't have a Blu-Ray player, and my DVR is a standalone thing, only recording SD. I realllly don't want to give up my TV Guide, but it could be an option.

Have to move my pdp4360hd to another room, unfortunately i bought the plasma in canada, therefore, it came with no stand or side speakers, just the monitor itself.whereas in us it was offered with both items, but i guess thats besides the piont. there is no room on the wall to mount it, so i need a stand, apparently the PKD TS12 or the PKD 1013 will be fine, but can't find one anywhere and did check everywhere this is my last ditch effort. likewise, the sidemount speakers which are the PDP -S37LR seem to be impossible to find aswell. So does anybody know about these items i do live on the can us border and have a us mailing adress so cross border stuff wouldn't be a problem. The stand is the most important as i could simplly by a speaker in the box system but reallly just want to keep it simple and have the side mount speakers, any info are help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

I have the PDK-TS10 stand that came with my 4360. It is a fixed -- non swivel mount, black support bars and silver base. Do you have the bolts that attach the plasma to the stand? I'd have to dig to find mine. If you're interested I'll take some pictures and put it on ebay.
hi thanks, found one on ebay yesterday, finally. should be arriving soon. its the pdk 1013. would you know anything or what did you do with your side mount speakers the pdp s37. would be willing to buy those
thanks,

I am in Canada. I still have brand new stand PKD-1013 (in unopen box) for Pioneer Plasma 4360HD. If you need it, let me know.

I have a 5060HD (~2-3 yrs. old). I hooked up a Sony bluray player via hdmi and nothing. Only works with component. I'm guessing this 'old' plasma doesn't have an updated hdmi codec (1.3a)? Anyone else with this issue? Is there a firmware update I can get? I'm going to call Pioneer tomorrow to see if I can get some type of answer.

That stinks. I would have thought HDMI1.3a is backwards compatible... or else why buy now to find out it no longer works; kind of like deflation?

Make sure the Input setting that you are using is activated to accept HDMI. If have to switch it on; check the manual. Something like; => Home Menu => Options => HDMI Input => Setting => Enable. Maybe that will work.
Joe, there's a switch on the AV menu for my Elite Pro-1130 (and I assume on your 5060) to activate the HDMI port. On my set, I'd press the Home Menu button on the remote and go to the Option menu to activate the HDMI input. You should be able to download the manual from the Pioneer site. I use a Playstation 3 for Blu-Ray through HDMI, and the picture is beautiful. Depending on how you configure the output settings of your Blu-Ray player, you can send the audio directly to your 5060 through HDMI or to your receiver through the optical Toslink connector (but not both at once).
Hi. I have a 5060, and just got a blu-ray player. Can any 5060 owners provide their calibration values?
Does anyone know if there were ever any firmware upgrades available for this TV? I bought mine, I believe, in '05.

On another note, is it a big drawback that this TV only supports 1080I and not 1080P? I was wondering if 1080P support could be had via a firmware update?

I purchased a 4360 with the included stand, but I'm about to purchase a new piece of furniture that is about 8" lower than my current TV table.

This stand has a second set of screw holes about 6 inches higher (for use with the larger 5060 model), but Pioneer told me I cannot safely use the higher set of attachment points with the 4360, it would be top-heavy. So, I need another stand that will put the screen higher up to compensate for the new lower furniture.

Any suggestions, or do third parties even make hardware like this? Thanks!
You Might wanna look at the Elite stand. I bought that one and increased the height by 2 inches on the longer rods (makes enough room to put my center channel without blocking the picture) I got mine of ebay so worth doing a search.

ditto, but I didn't think about increasing the height.

Walked by the family room this morning and noticed the MR had the imfamous 12 blue blinks, pause, then restarted again. I turned on the TV, and it started up normally, no messages or delays, etc.

I'm using a comcast HD box connected via COMPONENT. Perhaps a coincidence, but I've had the box for only 1 week. Up until now, I've only had coax. directly into MR without any issues.

I'm obviously out of warranty, but I definitely suspect it has something to do with how the MR interfaces with the comcast box (it just can't be this coincidental can it)?

Are there any firmware updates that may help? FWIW, I'm planning on doing the reset/unplug tonight, perhaps call pioneer support, I was thinking about using the cable card too (don't need the STB really).

Any inputs would be appreciated

I think it is related to using the guide info . The only time I had the problem is when I messed with guide setup. I think it gets in a weird state when it is looking for guide info and not getting it. I disabled the guide, reset, unplugged, all that stuff and eventually it went away.

Do you have the coax still going into the TV? If not you could try splitting your RF signal into the cable box and connecting it back up to the TV

Thanks for the quick response, newlinux.

To clarify, did you disable the TVGuide option on the TV?

I only have the coax going to the HD converter. Your suggestion sounds interesting, are you saying to split and send one coax to the ANTA (or ANTB)? Is that to enable the TVGuide to continue to get updates (although it can't really be used with the TV with HD converter)?

Yes, I disabled the guide on the TV. I would send the antenna to whichever one you were using before, probably A (I believe that was the digital one).

Yep, it is to enable it to continue to get updates even though it can't be used with the cable set top box (although there is picture in picture)... this is just a guess and something to try - I have nothing to prove my theory other than what I've seen with problems with guide stuff on this thread and my own experience.
