When DB Schenker dropped it off, it was just one guy and a huge truck. He and I carried it into my house. I don't think he could have done it alone.
After we set it down, he had me sign on the line and was on his way.

Thanks, cyberook. Knock on wood, I hope when I get my shipment that everything in intact and in good shape. I saw online that it's 34.4 kg, which equates to 75.83 lbs. Did you check the panel before signing for it?

That remote looks horrid. I always thought the XBR1 remote was n ice and classy. Love the metal... all it needed was backlit keys.

The new remotes are so sparse... I've only used my Harmony with the XBR1 forever.

how far in advance did they call and schedule delivery. My credit card was charged on the 9th, and need to make sure I can get someone home to accept the TV. I called Sony and they simply said that the delivery company would call me to schedule (hopefully a few days in advance).

I got an email from sony today saying mine was going to ship out today. How long after you received your email did you get a call from DB? Also, are they flexible on delivery dates? or is it more like "we are going to be there on wednesday, please be there to pick up your tv"
dragicon, when did you receive the email that said they received your tag and your order will be placed? I'm just trying to figure out when to expect an email saying it has been shipped and then when it should arrive.

Hang in there Wendy. They received my serial tag on March 1st and I got the email confirmation saying they had received it on March 3rd. You'll probably get it tomorrow.

I am thinking about taking TV replacement offer while there is one. I have extended warranty good until 5/11 with GE and I am curious if I remove sticker on rear of TV will they still do repairs or OB replacement or will it void warranty. Anybody have same issue?

My set was purchased 1/06, so far without any OB problems. If in fact they all fail, then I'm inclined to go for this offer and now wonder what to do with my XBR1. I'm hesitant to sell it without full disclosure, and also wonder who would buy it knowing it's checkered past. What are all of you doing with your old unit?

Well this is frustrating. My sticker was confirmed as received on the 10th and my card was charged on the 10th, but when i called today, my order is STILL in processing and has NOT shipped yet with no idea WHEN it will ship except that they leave a window of 2 weeks from the 10th.

Perhaps it's childish to be upset about this... but i am. i guess it wouldn't be a big deal except that i KNOW that people who sent their stickers in AFTER me are receiving their televisions BEFORE me - if i were ignorant of that fact, it wouldn't bother me so much that it's taking so long - but even if i get the television within the allotted time frame, just knowing that they are processing others before mine even though they readily admit mine should have been ahead in the queue leaves a kind of bad taste in my mouth - ok - end rant

Same thing is happening with me:

i sent my sticker in FedEx and they received it on a Tuesday morning at 10:30am, signed for (at Fort Myers, FL Sony). Nothing from them until, oddly, Saturday of the same week. I only knew something was happening because the date on the debit on my credit card was that Saturday!

why Saturday? i don't have a clue.

It is a known defect hence the class action lawsuit and replacement program. You might get lucky, and it might out last your ownership life. My first Optical Block and Bulb was done in the first 2 years.

As for my S#, I have a delivery confirmation via FEDEX on Monday but have not received an email and Sony has no record of receiving it.

does anyone know the length of time it takes DB Shencker to ship from San Diego to the East Coast? one poster indicated that it took one day to go from San Diego to Orange County, that's understandable, but i'm all the way on the east coast.

thx in advance.

similar boat. My extended warranty is good until 4/11. I've had one OB changed last summer. Never had the green blob, but the "phantom burn" few have mentioned. right now the set is beautiful.

I'm debating on a 46" for another room, or a "waiting in the wings" 55" replacement for the SXRD. when I take the offer, will my EW still be valid this next year for any hiccups?

Without even thinking, get the HX701. Why? Bravia engine 3, sleek all black monolith design for a modern clean look, wifi ready. I seen the Ex501 in a store and subjectively I was not impressed by the picture quality and the ugliness of the bezel design. Had the cheap unfinished look with charcoal grey and a cheesy looking silver strip that looks like duck tape ran across the bottom. Definitely worth the extra $230 bucks or so for the HX701. That's my opinion.
As of 3/16/10 Tuesday morning, I got an email confirming receipt of serial number. Checked my bank and confirmed charges. I mailed my sticker on a Friday of March 5th after initial acceptance of an offer on the day prior (I managed somehow to upgrade to an HX701 by next Wednesday the 10th after several brutal phone calls). Of course the email said shipping information will appear in another email when they get ready to send it out. This info is to give those an idea how "theoretically" long it takes to get your flat screen using a stamp and letter method instead of certified mail (which I honestly recommend otherwise) others have been using. Good Luck.

Email stated I should have it in the next one or two weeks. We'll see as I seen the pics someone posted of the HX701 looked impressive. Can't wait

I'm slowing my roll as I sent mine on Saturday via priority mail with DC. There is no record of it being delivered as of now.

I live on the west coast so you have to deal with the great USPS time frames. I working at being patient.

I just used the first class with the certified. Today I called sony , the renpersentive said, it may still on the mail room , she suggested me to call back firday or next monday. OH, I think I had to work at being patient now!!!

After Sony received my serial number sticker via certified mail it took them 3 days to email me and tell me that they had received it.

they received my FedEx'd sticker at 10:30am and didn't contact me until 4 days later! i called but they gave me the same line, i.e. "oh, it's in the mail room and, you know, there are many folks' tv's to process, ya know..."

they really don't care that much and management isn't that great.

they can't even tell me if their shipping contract with DB Shencker for these replacement units are "curbside delivery" or "indoor delivery"! what's with that?

So the theory that there is a stack of serial stickers just sitting in their "inbox" piling up until "whenever" they get around to it seems to hold true!!
I was offered a few replacements which I narrowed down to the two: KDL46NX700 ($775.00) and KDL55HX701 ($1150.00).

I opted for the NX700 but am now having buyers remorse (of course !) after looking at the pics for the HX701 that everyone seems to be getting.
I have not mailed in the sticker just yet, so in theory I could still change it.

If anyone has looked into these two models, could you help with some comments on a selection between these two ? My only concern is that my living room in my apartment is tiny and I have maybe about 9 feet of viewable distance. Its 240 hz vs 120, wifi vs no wifi ... aaargghhh
post #22050 of 23943
Is there anyone with an XBR1 NOT taking advantage of this offer?
