I will post back with my thoughts on the tv when I get it hooked up.

btw. I got this tv for $473.00 plus tax for a total of $509.66 shipped. I went through the Facebook page "I have a defective Sony TV" Once I posted on there, Sarah contacted me. I was able to forward her a receipt for a bulb purchase to get my price down to the $473.00. Hope this helps someone.

I wonder if they allow the stand for a price deduction. With that & a bulb, that'd make it free for me.

I don't know if they have specific rules, it just seems like they take it case by case and then decide what to offer. wouldn't hurt to try

Did you not get the official Sony stand with your XBR1? I think I paid about $400 for mine.

Ok my 50in sxrd xbr1 turn on but after a minute the picture goes out and standby light blinks geen and then after 30 seconds piture comes back on. It does this over and over. No red lights The bulb is only 4 months old so I wouldnt think its already going bad but I did buy the 90$ which Ive heard you need to buy the expensive one from sony, the cheaper ones dont last long. and it was flickering before all this happened. Thoughts?

KDL60EX500 for $465 plus taxes
KDL60EX700 - $965 plus taxes
KDL60NX800 - $1665 plus taxes
XBR60LX900 - $3165 plus taxes

I paid $750 plus tax back in February for the 60EX500.

I'd love to see that LX900

No, I didn't get it. I already had an entertainment center to put it in.

Since I failed at picking a good TV for the long run with the XBR1, anyone care to give me some insight on the three available now?

$160 - KDL-46NX700
$225 - KDL-55EX500
$325 - KDL-52EX700

What's the best bang for my buck?

I don't care about the internet options. I use the TV for 40% movies 40% TV 20% gaming. It will be in a basement that is light controlled. Any input is appreciated. I have until Tuesday next week to decide.

what size XBR1 do you have?

call 1-800-554-6908 (i've talked to 4 different people and they're all very friendly) and tell them you don't believe the original offer is fair. that you feel you should be offered the same size tv as the one you originally bought. they'll prob'ly offer you a larger tv.

my original offer was the same as yours (slightly higher prices), after i called i was offered 2 60" tvs.

oh and the failure wasn't yours...

60" currently

I see the offer you were made. I guess my contention will still be ex500 vs ex700. BE2 v BE3. CCFL vs Edge Lit LED. I'm not oppose to going 60", if I was I would have to turn in my man card. However, after dealing with the hassle of this xbr1, I'm torn on the idea of giving Sony more of my money.

Even if it isn't my fail, it's my problem.

I received email from Sony that they received the documentation on 5/17. Yesterday I received email that the 60EX700 had been sent. Today I checked the Customer Tracking and it indicated it had been shipped from Los Angeles (yesterday). Later on today I received a phone call from the shipping company that the TV will be delivered tomorrow.

That's outstanding service!

Not abnormal, by many accounts posted here.

With so many TV's getting replaced, someone in Socal must have a green brick they need to dump. This is a 'Science' forum. In the name of science, gimme!

Your best source of info on those TVs are the corresponding owners threads in the LCD TVs section.

I figured it may help others that have to make the same choice with their xbr1 to have the information in this thread. I apologize if it is out of place.

it's not. we need to share all the info we can with each other to insure
we get adequately compensated by sony. the lcd threads will give you
more specific comments and reviews about each set so i would definitely
check them out, but be sure to share whatever knowledge you acquire on
the sxrd threads.

I have a KDS-R60XBR1 that I bought in November 05 and I am starting to see the green that others have talked about. Mine is mostly on the right side and more noticeable in the guide when it is pulled up. Right now it is a vague green while watching. For those of you who have had this problem from the time it starting till it got extremly bad what was the timeframe?

I called Sony today

1-239-768-7547

They offered me three TV's at a discount but none of them were 60"

52 KDL 52EX700 $325 +tax
55 KDL 55EX500 $225 +tax
46 KDL 46NX700 $160 +tax

Is there another number I can call or someone else to speak to get a 60" that others have been able to get on this forum?

The TV's they offered were nice but they just aren't as nice as what I have now so uless I get a better offer I guess I will just have mine fixed.

Umm you can take the offer AND repair your old TV. There's no real point not to take an offer unless you plan to go to small claims.

OK, so I have bee doing some research on SONY's TVs and aside from the 3D models it looks like the flagship right now is the KDL-60NX800, has anyone been made an offer on here for that TV?

So far I have been offered a KDL-46NX700 for $325 which retails for $2099 so at that rate of discount if the KDL-60NX800 retails at around $3200 it should be available at a discount of around the $510 mark. Does this make sense to you?

I could not find a retail price for the NX800 on SONY's website but Costco has a KDL-60NX801for $3199 and the specs seem to be the same so I would assume the prices would be similar.

Could someone point me to the page where the criteria and what one has to do to get the ball rolling on getting a replacement TV? I have a 60" and it has discoloration on the gray screen and some in live programming.

I"m not exactly sure what is required or how to start the process. Thanks for any help.

they are not going to offer you that tv no matter how much your ask, esp. for that price. the only 60's they're offering are the EX500 and 700.

you may have bought a "top of the line" tv, as i did, but you're not going to get one as a replacement.
I dont really see what difference it would make to SONY which TV they discount. The 52EX700 for $325 is an $1874 discount off retail so why wouldn't they at least offer the same discount ($1874) on the higher priced TV surely their profit margin at retail would be at least a little more on their higher end higher priced model. If they gave people the $1874 discount off the $3199 retail price that would be $1325 which is still probably more than I personally can afford right now but if an offer were available at somehwhere in between the $510 which is roughly an 84% discount and $1325 it would really be eating at me in the back of my mind to cough up the money.

That being said as of right now I haven't been offered any 60" TV at any price as of yet. I have posted on FB so we will see how it goes. I have been searching the internet since this happened and I did read somewhere where one guy claims that he got a 60" at no cost to him but I cant find where I read that and I don't remember what model # he claims to have gotten.

So, It's been over a week since i mailed off my info to Sony and i haven't heard anything from them. Yesterday, they drafted my account. I guess things are fine and the new TV is on it's way?

Well they just starting offering this in Canada:

KDL60EX500 for $465 plus taxes
KDL60EX700 - $965 plus taxes
KDL60NX800 - $1665 plus taxes
XBR60LX900 - $3165 plus taxes

Even if Sony would make you an offer on the 60NX800 you probably would not like the price.

Did you mean I probably would "not" like the price?
