Any new HD channels in the Groton/Ledyard/New London area ? Does anyone know of any plans of new HD channels ?
For those on the Bolton system... all the channels that are on expanded basic are currently transmitted in the clear on QAM. That will be going away in "months" or sooner.

Here's the QAM mapping on TV. I also have a slingbox that has a QAM tuner, there are a few differences in where it shows that channel but they're still in the same ballpark. YMMV.

channel station
24- 2 TBS HD
25- 1 Weather
25- 2 YES
26- 1 BET
26- 1 ION
26- 2 Cartoon
26- 3 Comedy
26- 4 MTV
26- 5 Disney
26- 6 Nick
26- 7 SyFy
26- 8 AMC
26- 9 Discovery
26- 10 TLC
26- 11 VH1
26- 12 USA
27- 1 CSPAN2
27- 2 Animal
27- 3 Travel
27- 4 CNN
27- 5 Golf
27- 6 Headline News
28- 1 HGTV
28- 2 ABC Family
28- 3 Lifetime
28- 4 Fox News
28- 5 A&E
28- 6 History
28- 7 MSNBC
28- 8 CNBC
28- 9 TruTV

I am on the New Haven system in Hamden. Every day I notice Comcast showing SD feeds on HD channels. This is especially prevalent during "off-hours," but I feel like I'm paying for HD, so I should get HD 24/7. For example, WTIC-HD (Fox) typically will not start showing the HD feed until prime time, around 8pm.

Also, multiple channels on the guide are mislabeled both in channel name and content.

Finally, TBS-HD has was showing TNT-HD for about 3-4 days. It just stopped over the weekend and is now showing TBS again.

Have these events happened anywhere else in CT? What gives?

What WTIC puts on is what Comcast shows. Same as all the other channels. If its SD sometimes and HD other times, blame the channel, not Comcast. Comcast doesn't control content.

Did you contact customer service with the guide issue or TBS/TNT problem? They might not be aware of the issue.

It was nice to have ESPNU for a UConn football game for a change.

Anyone on the Vernon system catch it on ESPNU HD and was actually broadcast in HD?

Curious....

498 HD PPV 2 was added.

HD PPV shows 1 or 2, maybe 3 things a month. Now there's need for a second HD PPV channel? LOL.
PPV HD 2 had to be temporarily added due to the Mayweather fight and I think a UFC or a wrestling match on PPV HD1? I think that was the case.

This thread is sure quiet. I guess not much is happening. I'm on the Hartford system wishing I had a few more HD channels, full bit rate, and better organized channel numbers.
They're going system by system. Hartford is supposed to be next in line. We got the DOCSIS 3.0 rollout ahead of more HD for some reason.

Did anybody else notice how they mangled the lineup for those of us in New Britain/Hartford without a converter? My TV has a QAM tuner and, thankfully, I'm still getting most everything like before. As for the analog lineup, there is now nothing between cable channel 22 and 70. Lastly, the digital tuner on my LG DVD recorder/VCR is picking up 26-1 twice. Only one of them is WHPX-DT (ION) from New London.

I didn't get a notice about Hartford changing yet. I want to get the free cable box or tuners that they are offering people when they do change. Did I miss the notice?

On top of them messing up the analog lineup, I get a letter from them today, stating that they're going to charge me $2 more for their service starting in November. Those lousy m----- f------! >

If you read your bill notices, probably 2 months ago, you would've seen that the channels were all going away. Its part of the larger Comcast all digital play. Migrating B2 to digital only (and providing 1 or 2 free DTAs for customers that get cable direct analog) to free up bandwidth for higher DOCSIS speeds, more HD, and more Digital services.

As I stated in my previous post, I did not get any notice for the Hartford system. Are you saying that you are on the Hartford system and were notified?

My reply was to KML-224 who has New Britain listed as his location. New Britain is not part of the Hartford system, its part of the Berlin system. And no, I don't live in CT. But I haunt these forums and I have friends and family that live in CT.
True. Our system's head end is in Berlin. We're clustered with Berlin, Plainville, Farmington, Bristol, Burlington, Avon and Canton.
The NFL Red Zone HD channel will be available this Sunday on the Vernon system, next Sunday on the Plainville system. No details on channel number.

Sure did! Before Tuesday, 26.1 displayed the first subchannel of the New London based station. Now 26.1 is BET. Looks like Comcast needs to remove the virtual 26.1 from the New London station which used to be on a channel in the 80s.

After Tuesday's purge TBS HD is gone from clear QAM.

My Sony XBR scans 24.1 as "HIDDEN" and needs to be reset as "SHOWN"

Have you heard any indication on when they're going to get around to the Middletown system? I've asked Comcast, but surprise, surprise, they have no idea what I'm talking about.

This week I noticed on ABC (WTNH) that the audio sync issue was gone. Then I noticed I was getting 2.0, not 5.1. Anyone else notice this?

I don't have that problem. I do have audio drop out and sometimes a pixel problem on TBS and NESN. Both HD.

Seymour system.

Anyone experiencing a problem with WFSB-HD (channel 233)and Fox61-HD (234) in the New Haven region (West Haven). Was unable to get consistent signal from both those channels all night on Friday (9-25), basically unwatchable.

Now I'm really confused. I just heard back from WTNH and she told me they stopped broadcasting in 5.1 and they are using 2.0 because of their internal audio problems. How are other people getting 5.1 from them?

I've also noticed signal quality issues with these channels for the last few days. I monitored the signal quality for a while through my HDHR. The signal strength is around 87%, and the signal quality is jumping between 60% and 90%. Previously, both of these were stable and over 90%, and nothing in my setup has changed.

I'm not happy about it, but I guess it's good to know that someone else is experiencing the same issue. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Since Sunday night/Monday morning, I've lost the local HD channels on 231, 232, 233, 234 (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX) on both my cable cards (No signal message).

Both my DVRs are fine.

I've done the cable card reset, powered the tvs off, and pulled the cards - but no luck.

So, before I start the 'Why it doesn't work' dance with Comcast - does anyone else have the same problem, or am I the only one on the Plainville system?

Many thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you on Comcast's Plainville system. Last night I noticed all my broadcast HD networks were gone on both of my HDTVs and my DVR. I tried reprogramming both TVs to no avail. I did not get to try the DVR. If you do talk to Comcast, and actually speak to someone who doesn't just want to sell you something, please report back.

Update: Spoke to Comcast last night and today and was told that in the New Haven, West Haven & Hamden region they have what is called a "major outage" which has started in Hamden as early as Sept. 20th. I am being told it is a problem with a what they called a "node" and that the problem has been compounded by an additional equipment failure over the last couple of days. They said that the customers seem to be effected in different ways with some calls saying "on demand" or their guides don't work or like in my case problems with the local channels HD signals. Before they were aware of the nature of the problem they were "rehitting" boxes and in many cases the customer lost all signals, so they are recommending that we do not perform a power reset because instead of a couple of issues you risk losing everything.

The young lady talked to me for over 10 minutes and said that technicians have to stay on the site until it is fixed but that they do not have an estimate of when that will be. Once all service is back to normal they will consider requests for adjustments on bills, if one is requested.

Since I live in West Haven, they did not mention if the problem has extended into other areas of the state also, but if you are in other areas, it may be worth a phone call. The customer service reps seem to be embarassed that the problem is taking so long to correct. My guess may be that they are waiting for some equipment but that is only speculation.

Anyone else hear anything more or different.

I lost my HD channels through the QAM tuner a couple of days ago. I'm on the Plainville system. Seriously thinking about going to Direct TV.
