The first few times I tried it, I got a message saying the website was unavailable. then it worked - don't know why.

What is HD on Demand that seems to be available with the SA boxes and not the Moto boxes?

I've changed the Hartford "HDTV" thread to an "OTA" thread. Also this thread and the CT-Telemedia thread were added to the Index for the Hartford DMA.

If the Comcast purchase of Adelphia/Telemedia goes through, we'll combine these two threads into a single thread. We may also make it a general "Cable" thread until there's enough activity for Charter to have its own thread (Does Charter have coverage outside of the Roxbury area?)

FYI:

I am on Clinton Comcast system. We got switched to the new channel lineup a week or so ago.

NO INH2 on 207 NO Discovery HD on 205 as of today.

Anyone know the status of the Clinton or New Haven plans to add these channels??

I'm on the Plainville system, and we just got the new lineup. We've got the following HD channels (not counting premiums for these purposes).

ESPN
Discovery
INHD/NESN
INHD2
WTNH (ABC)
WVIT (NBC)
WFSB (CBS)
WTIC (FOX)
WTXX (WB)
CPTV (PBS)

Does anyone know what is up with WXTX (UPN)? I know they are broadcasting digitally, but not passing HD. Anyone know when that will be on, and when Comcast will pick it up?

Also, does anyone know if Comcast is making any moves for TNT-HD or HDNet for our area? It would also be nice to see more YES HD coverage next year. Perhaps split INHD2 with that or something.

Is there anything else Comcast is making moves for in our area?

I got the new lineup on September 20th. We are the Berlin, Bristol, Farmington, New Britain, Plainville system according to Comcast.


Awe man, I like it splitting time with INHD1. This way, if OLN has a national hockey game on INHD2 I can also see a Boston game in high def on NESN on INHD1. 2 HD games at the same time is GREAT .


This is pretty interesting. It will be neat to see how that plays out.


That would be cool to get TNT-HD. They've got NASCAR and the NBA, neither of which I am super-into. But they do have some original series and shows they re-run in HD like Las Vegas.


I think it would be nice to have HDNet. At this point just about everyone else does, and certainly DirecTV does.

Is there any information about getting ESPN2HD? As ESPN keeps adding high def content, like a few days in this past baseball playoffs, it would be really helpful to have that channel.

I've heard that once DirecTV does HD locals, that CT would be in the second round of additions like it was when they rolled out SD locals. My hope is that gets Comcast to get their butt in gear and adding more HD content, espicially the content that DirecTV already has.

I notice as of last Friday, the Groton Comcast area has inHD2 and DiscoveryHD added and active in the channel lineup. So somewhere between Oct 11 and Oct 15 this region got it's 2 new HD channels.

Now it's time to huncker down and wait for ESPN2HD.... truly my #1 pick for the next HD channel.

Has anyone in the Middletown/Portland area started getting Discovery and INHD2 yet? The new lineup appeared last week, but still no new HD channels. If not by tomorrow I'll probably try to call, I'd also like to know why we're the only area w/out WB in HD.......

Middleton/Portland is not the only area with out WB-HD.

Groton Comcast does not have WB-HD and I've heard no talk about it being added. We did _just_ get inHD2 and DiscoveryHD at the end of last week (~14 Oct).

Comcast Kicks Off Patriots on Demand

Teaming up with NFL Network, Comcast has launched an on-demand channel devoted to the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

It's not on the Branford system, either.

I saw that about the Patriots On Demand, will it be available in CT also? I wasn't sure if it was a boston thing.

FYI -- I am in the Danbury CT Comcast System and the HD-DVR that I received was the SA 8000HD.

On an another note, are there any folks on SA systems that have seen any Digital Simulcasts? I have seen discussion for the Moto folks and lists for ADS, but yet to have heard of any SA systems in CT showing any progress in that area.

Would like to hear of any SA systems having channels being simulcast digital.

Middletown here. I have been running with the full analog package and just the non-premium HD channels here (extra $8 a month) as I have no need or desire for a bunch of digital package channels that I won't watch. After InHD2 and Discovery HD were finally turned on here yesterday, I saw that not only were these channels listed as Not Authorized by my cable box, but InHD was taken away from me in the same fashion. The first phone tech I spoke with was very confused and had no idea what I was talking about. The second one realized that I was being shorted, but could not figure out a way to reset my box to give me the missing channels. She forwarded me to a higher tier person who insisted that access to the non-broadcast HD channels has always required purchase of the Digital Classic channel package (despite the fact that I had been getting InHD since February, the local office staff has always said that I should get InHD, and I am still getting ESPN HD). After showing her the Comcast-NE online channel lineups (which marks all of the non-premium HD channels as available with my package), I could only convince her to discuss the situation with another superior at some point in the future. Anyone else getting hosed by this problem?

Yup. That's exactly how it is, and has been, in my area.

Does anyone in CT that has SA boxes have the SA8300 yet? I'm curious if they are rolling them out yet in the area.

Anyone in the Hartford area using a QAM tuner? If so, what are you picking up?

I'll second this question! My SA8000HD has been acting kind of flaky (since it froze completely and required a reboot). I was perfect since the new firmware push on the audio/video sync up till this freeze. Now it has out of sync sound from fast-fowarding, etc... Plus is just decided to split last week's CSI into 46 min and 13 min recordings. BTW I do have the box on a nice APC Smart-Ups true-sinewave battery backup.

I keep getting mixed answers from CSR's on this SA83000HD rollout question. Some say it's already started.... some say it isn't coming....

Why is it so hard to put out the SA8300HD in CT when other states (Comcast) have it and TimeWarner cable has it out in almost all their SA areas?

I have one in my RCA DLP. I have analog cable and just have the cable line input to my TV. I get all of the typical "Expanded Basic" channels plus the local HD channels (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, WB, PBS). I also get the NBC 24hr "Weather Channel". I also get the music channels (not reliably, though) and I can pick up On Demand channels that other people are watching - of course, you cannot pick what you want to watch!

That's fine, I'm happy with that. Just wanted to be sure all the networks were present. This will actually be a step up for me from Cox, since they are missing WB and ABC.

Did you ever get an answer? I switched from the SA3250HD to the SA8000HD and I think the 3250 was all around better than the 8000. I heard that the 8300 was more like the 3250. I keep on getting mixed info. First is no roll-out in CT because they want to covert their headends all to Moto (I can't see that) or they won't roll out the 8300 until all SA systems have comparable offerings (voice, data and cable).

Anyone heard anythingelse?

I just called Comcast to set up my service once I move. I was told that there is a $200 deposit required if you want more than 1 HD-DVR! Holy heck batman! That is SERIOUSLY annoying.

ctsooner - I agree 100% with your position on the SA HD DVR boxes. The run around (and conflicting) answers that you have been given are exactly what I have heard for almost a year now. Both my Dad and brother have the SA8300HD in a Time Warner cable area of NY and it's a significant improvement over our SA8000HD.

I haven't called the CT Comcast CSR line lately because they have been getting worse and worse in answering the SA8300HD box question as of late.

BTW: I have been "on the SA8300HD" list of first people to notify for longer than I can recall. I think it's a junk memo note they toss into my file for bugging them so often about it.
