Pressing the Exit button will make it disappear.

Of course. I'm asking about a setting that changes the time it goes away on its own.

Unrelated question, watching Breaking Bad last night on AMC and the picture quality was just terrible, like watching a bad internet streaming feed, tons of blocking and other artifacts. Is that typical?

Yes, this is a common complaint. Apparently AMC's parent company, Rainbow Media has severely limited the broadcast quality/bandwidth of all of their channels.

There is a topic with LOTS of details about this here:

From this thread on 9/1-

How many services do you subscribe to for Internet and TV? You also said you have U-verse service and DirecTV service in those threads. Either you have more houses than George Clooney or you are full of BS.
Someone sounds a little envious.

I never said I had DirecTV service and I don't have U-verse now but I've had it before.

I'ma let you in on a protip here: it's possible to subscribe to a cable and a fiber provider at the same time. I know, mind-boggling.

Hardly envious, just skeptical of the magic DMA where U-verse, FiOS and Time Warner are all available. Especially U-verse and FiOS simultaneously if your screenshot comparison data is to be believed. Having cable and fiber simultaneously is easily enough done, not so much with multiple competing LEC services.

Very small part of Dallas DMA have all 3

And your question was answered in the following post. My post, which came later, was meant to offer you an alternative way to close the information bar. You're welcome.

By the way, that question was answered earlier in this thread.

Yes, roughly 60,000 homes out of 130,000,000. Even then, you would not be able to get U-verse and FiOS at the same time.

What decade are you living in?

Apparently you've never heard of the magical technology known as the "Internet" that allows transporting significant quantities of information from one part of the planet to another part of the planet instantaneously.

One person has one provider, another person has another provider, I wonder what happens when you bring the Internet into the equation? Hmmmm...

Is there a way to configure the DVR to automatically jump back 30 seconds after exiting fast-forward? This is a pretty common feature with other DVRs but I haven't been able to figure it out with Fios.

Good luck. I asked a similar question over a month ago and have yet to get an answer.

BTW, are you using one of the new Cisco DVRs with IMG 1.9?

Yes, I have the newer Cisco DVR running v1.9. I just got the service last week.

The DVR itself is excellent and a big improvement from my previous Comcast DVR. It's just this one aspect that is bugging me. The 2x FF is too slow and I constantly find myself missing the mark with the 4x FF and have to rewind manually.

I have the same DVR and same issue. I've gone through the settings menu many times and have not be able to find any option to change it. Its really been my only long standing legitimate complaint since switching from Directv 3 months ago.

I set the tab forward to 30 secs. That works fairly well.
Same issue. I wish there was a way to customize the "jump back" feature for the different speeds to account for different reflexes. I need the 4x speed to jump back another 5 to 10 seconds than what it does.

My 2 year contract is about to run out. Any tips or tricks to renew or upgrade account? I use to keep up with this thread a long time ago but it has gotten so big I thought I would just throw out the question in stead of spending hours trying to resource the answer on here.

thanks

Count yourself lucky and just make sure you don't get a long-term contract again- I know I never will. Better deals are to be had on a month-to-month basis, just ask for it.

If you don't get the deal you feel is competitive, drop Verizon and sign back up again but under your wife's name. At least that's the way it used to work.

IMG 1.9 up and running in DAC1 as of now. Have not used it yet. Hooray!
Yup, we just got 1.9 here in DFW and it looks pretty sweet. Much crisper than the old guide. Can't wait to really play with it later.

There is a way. If you go into Menu > Settings > DVR > Replay. And from there you select it to jump back 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 Minute or 5 minutes.

Hope that helps.

Is this with the new Cisco CHS 435HDC boxes?
It should work that way with ALL boxes. It's a software feature, not something that's hardware dependant. I was able to make that setting on both of my Moto boxes.
I would expect so... But... The Cisco boxes do run a different version of 1.9. I have heard of some differences in issues.

My STB is running IMG 1.9.

Right. I've searched and searched for it. The setting option is just not there.

Not to mention if the software did have that feature, it probably would have been enabled by default.

You guys who are still using the FF & REW buttons should really give the Skip and Replay buttons a try. The Skip and Replay buttons can be set to different time increments and it is a much faster and more exact way to skip commercials without even seeing them. When a commercial starts, I just hit Skip twice and resume watching the program. FF & REW are old school.

Yes, those buttons work great on my DVR. But they won't respond on my 2 STB's (part of multi-room DVR package).

Some dude at Fios help desk said problem w/ Cisco boxes and 1.9.

Anyone else have this issue?
