This past week or so I've been having a bit of an ordeal with Verizon over my FiOS TV service. I recently noticed that my DVR that's been fine for the 4 years or so I've had it, had been randomly resetting for no apparent reason. So, I was in the process of remodeling the home theater room and took it offline for a few days. When I re-installed it after the remodel, it was randomly resetting, so I did a chat with VZ tech support and they offered to send me a new one. This next DVR (same model - MOT 7216 refurbished) arrived in a couple of days, but I couldn't get it to work. It kept coming up asking me for parental code, and wouldn't go through the authorization. Called VZ tech support and they couldn't get it to work remotely, so I plugged the old DVR back in and sent the refurbished one back to them. They sent a brand new DVR out and it wouldn't automatically authorize either. It took two calls to VZ tech support to get it working. Two days in, I came home, turned it on, and there was a frozen picture, couldn't get it to do anything, except change channels. I had about three shows recorded, but when I tried to play one of them, the thing rebooted and when it came back up, none of the recordings were still there. (I was perturbed at missing some of my usual weekly fare). Tomorrow, they are supposed to send a technician over. At this point, I'm wishing I'd just stuck with my old DVR, but when they sent the new one, I shipped the old one back to them. It seems odd to me that in two case last week, the automated/self-authorization just outright failed. Is this a normal experience with VZ FiOS?
