Ch 689 on VH07 is BBCA HD. All that's left is for FiOS to turn the channel on.

Yes, it's live here in VH04 too. My TiVos had guide data for it yesterday before it went live. The only bad thing is that it's in MPEG-2. I wish they would start using MPEG-4 for their no- spanish channels to free up some space.

Most cable boxes in the wild still don't handle MPEG-4. The article mentions phones, computers, and tablets using HEVC soon after release. But no mention about cable companies and cable boxes using it. Although it does mention Internet television using it.

Just guessing, but I would think it could be implemented in cable STBs... DirecTV has been rolling out mpeg4 boxes for quite awhile. I guess when they get to a certain low point, they'll require the rest of their customer base to upgrade to a mpeg4 compatible STB...

I was going through the channels and was surprised how extra bad the PQ is on WE HD.
With little or no camera movement there is digital compression artifacts and macroblocking.
I checked the other AMC Networks Inc. Channels, AMC, Fuse and IFC and it's the same.
Is every TV provider except for possibly Cablevision since they own AMC Networks Inc getting low bandwidth channels from AMC Networks?

That splatter in the lower right side the the screen ain't as bad as it used to be but it's still amoung the worst of all available channels.

i didn't even notice when I was watching it last night. I think I pretty much tune them out. The only time I notice them are when they are dynamic. Like when it shows a person moving on the bottom of the screen.

BBCA It was worse when they used to keep the name of the show on the bottom left.
The curent layout is much better.

Do they clean the BBCA screen if we eventually get the free VOD ?

at least the logo is transparent

It being translucent automatically puts it above a ton of other stations right now. History, Science, and Encore come to mind.

I wonder what Verizon is waiting for to use the spaces that are now channels 594 and 596. I guess one will be Cartoon Network HD, and the other will return to Red Zone HD. The current Red Zone picture on channel 835 makes me think that they took the channel down to use the space for the Olympics. People on the dslreports board are freaking out thinking that Verizon took Red Zone away from them and they'll never get it back.

Anyone else having issues with BBC Ameica HD On Demand? Monday, the Doctor Who and Nerdist specials from last Saturday were in a "BBCA HD" subfolder, which disappeared a day later. Wednesday, a "Copper HD" folder was added, but that disappeared today.

Would contacting Verizon do any good? How difficult can it be to add one HD subfolder, then put new HD content in that folder? The shows mentioned above were all added successfully to the SD folder, and they have not disappeared, but I do not want to watch the SD version of Copper on my LED TV!

One can only hope, and this is coming from a die hard football fan. LOL

Fios activated the channel now.

If you have ultimate go to the channel & hit the green ok button & it will say you have access.

Then it about 10 mins the redzone screen comes on.

They still are using the old logo though cause it would be waaaaaay to much work to update that.

Yep, I think you're right. One of the Olympics channels got Red Zone's slot. I didn't notice a change to ESPN Goal Line, so that would still leave one empty slot after Cartoon Network.

Also, this maybe suggests we'll get CN next week. BBCA last week; Red Zone this week; CN next week?

Yes, I'm happy to say I'm wrong that 594 or 595 would be used for Red Zone, as they are both still there. This makes me think that one will be used for Cartoon Network HD, and the other one for one or two MPEG-4 channels that Verizon is contractually obligated to launch like Univision Deportes.

I've got an issue with my 7232. When I turn the STB on and go to the guide and make a channel selection the unit will freeze and lock up. Hitting exit does nothing and I'll have to turn the box off and try again. Sometimes it means unplugging the box and going thru the reboot process which is very annoying. Anybody else having similar issues?

Correct, all 6xxx series and digital adaptor boxes which I suspect are the majority in use within Verizon.

Yes, this has been happening to me also over the past 1 or 2 weeks. Not sure what's happening, I just didn't have the time to call tech support.

I have this issue on an older 6400 dvr box. last few weeks ish. Today I went to options button support and did the fix stb box option seems to work better for now.

I have the same problem

One issue that i had is that the fios box when after leaving it on for a period of time, it shows the audio as PCM 48khz instead of Dolby 5.1 on my optical cable connection using the same monster cable that i use for my ps3. Having to reboot the box to default to dolby audio resolves the issue (same for auto correct). This has been happening for the past day or two. I hope fios fixes this glitch or else i'll buy an orange audio cable to connect the fios box to the av reciever and the purple monster audio cable to my ps3. Also, how do i change the audio settings in the secret menu? The 2.5 update to the menu features picture-only.

Looks like the main cause was the audio alerts. WHen i turn them on, the audio reverts to pcm and the beep comes up when a program is about to begin. If i turn it off, then the audio reverts to dolby 5.1. Among hd channels in network tv, I think NBC in NYC is the worst. Lots of macroblocking on top of the screen, especially with sports. AUdio can be hit or miss. For instance, dramas and shows on NBC have good volume, specifically the news shows which are the only ones in real 5.1 (Nightly News, Today, Meet the Press). CBS on the other hand played the derek jeter ford ad at a high volume than most ads during the giants-jets game last friday night. Everytime that commercial comes on in 2 channel stereo i turn down the volume!!!

Since 8/27/2012 FIOS did some software updates to the box and I noticed the "audio alerts" started working, even though I had set it on over a month ago. But I also noticed that the Dolby digital signal startied getting lost when I set to record a program or did a VOD function. The only way to get the Dolby digital back was to reboot the box. I put 2+2 together and definitely pinpointed it to the "audio Alert" setting being on. Turning "audio Alert" off seems to workaround the issue. I reported to FIOS support 8/31 and they opened a ticket with support.
You will have to reboot box if you do not currently have the Dolby signal.

There are threads about this over on DSLreports and on the Verizon forums. I was going to upgrade my 6416 to the 7232 today but after reading about this I think I'm going to hold off until they get it resolved.

Most of the problems seem to be in VHO8 and I'm in VHO6. Has anyone in VHO6 had this problem?
