Last i heard was 1 TB. But I hope that is the minimum or at least it is eSATA expandable.

I have read as much elsewhere, too. I have been waiting for CN in HD for quite a while so I am definitely excited for this.

Check on Wednesday (that's the date I heard).

Indeed it is. It could then be on a different day. Let's try tomorrow.

594 & 596 are still on with color bars and tone.
If a channel is being added I'd expect one of both of them to be turned off or moved to the location of the channel being added.

Today is Thursday
NO CN HD and 594 and 596 are still up.
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that tomorrow will be Friday.

Too funny. To think there are actually people here who believe Verizon will deliver anything when they say they will. Go back a few pages, wash, rinse, repeat.

Only Jeepmatt had reliable info and he went to Comcast.

Did Verizon ever give an official date?

could someone tell me why the picture freezes and why the audio goes out sometimes?

So after a long wait, FiOS was finally activated in my building yesterday. Last night I signed up for service and the installation is scheduled for this Sunday. Is there anything I should know or make sure I ask about either before or during the install? I ordered 3 DVRs...is the best one available the 7232? Also, I ordered the double play with 75/35 internet and the Extreme HD package. Anyone know where I can easily view the channels that I'll be missing out on by not going with Ultimate HD? Thanks.
Yep 7232 is the current dvr.

Here in northern NJ & NY if you get ultimate you also get all the premium channels like hbo, starz, cinemax, showtime, epix, encore thrown in too.

It sux that alot dont do movies in OAR but its good for original stuff like game of thrones, inside the nfl etc.

Comes out to about 28 HD channels not counting the west versions of those channels.

This is a good channel list:

Thanks dcowboy. Guess Ultimate isn't that much more expensive if I was planning on adding Red Zone...and once my initial 50% discount on Cinemax drops off. If I had a 3D display it would be even more of a value with it including ESPN 3D. I'll have to think about whether to upgrade a bit more.

A couple other questions as I get ready for my install on Sunday...does the included Actiontec router support gigabit ethernet on the wired ports, or only 10/100? The product data sheet says "LAN: 802.11g, 802.11b, 10/100 Ethernet (optional Gigabit),MoCA". Curious what version of the hardware they install and whether most of you use it?

Also, does it support multiple SSID on the wireless end? Thanks.

I'm coming back to Fios tomorrow after not having it two years. I had to move out of the verizon area to care for my ailing grandparents. I am curious about the boxes they give out now. Will i definitely get 7xxx boxes? I don't want the 6xxx series boxes as i know they don't fully support the newest features of IMG 1.9.

As a new customer you'll probably get the new Cisco boxes. That's what they gave me and they are much better than the Motorolas that I had in the past.

I switched to the Cisco STBs a few months back and I have found that they also have their issues. I think they have a few less problems than the Motorola STBs, but there are still glitches every now and then that are perplexing.

Does anyone know if Verizon did finally add Cartoon Network HD to their FIOS TV service?
Not yet.
Actually they gave me Motorola's the 7232 for my HMDVR and two 7100s. Its a little odd not seeing any display on the other boxes. They are a lot better then the 6412 i had when i had FIOS previously.

broadwayblue, no, the Actiontec router does not support gigabit Ethernet. Can't answer the multiple SSID question though.

The latest actiontec routers do support Gigabit speeds. I got a replacement recently and the tech swapped me for a Gig version. If you go to the Verizon equipment site it's listed. I thing it's red vs black front.

Ditto. Mine supports Gigabit.
Yes the newer ones (Revision I) they have support gigabit, but you can do much better by getting your your own router. I have a rev i Actiontec that FiOS gave me along with three of the older Actiontec routers from teh last 5+ years with FiOS all gathering dust in my closet. Even my ancient Dlink DGL4500 router does a better job than the gigabit Actiontec. And my newer Asus routers do even better.

I've gotten better wifi speeds using my own router. I DON'T have FiOS video; only data... I have a Rev D ActionTec somewhere "collecting dust." Would they really want it back if I were to cancel FiOS Internet??
If you get your own router and return Verizon's, does it lower your monthly bill?
Nope but it does break your ability to access VOD.
You can always hook up the FiOS router behind your own router for VOD. I had mine hooked up that way in 2007/2008 when I used a FiOS STB for VOD.

Thanks mariob33. Good to know. Wonder what I have to do to get one in my house.
