I have the Motorola 7232. Does anyone know when you select RGB it sends out limited 16-235 or full 0-255. Seems like limited.

Also, any difference in PQ b/t RGB and YCC, if your tv can handle either.

Anyone notice that the sound on abc is terrible worst than any other station -- almost as if the stereo isnt working correctly.

Im in VHO7 NJ so maybe its only a local thing ?

IT sends out limited RGB (16-235). That's what most TV and movies use. 0-255 is generally reserved for computer graphics.

Watched most of a Swiss cycling race this morning on Bein Sports HD. (and posted impressions in HD programming Cycling thread). First I'd spotted Bein, with FIOS in NYC and Ultimate package. Cycling PQ seemed exceptionally good compared to a few such races I'd watched a few years back. -- John

I agree. Sounds hollow. Used to be great before livewell.

I watch on DVR a show that always sounds "tinny" like a metallic effect. Do you experience this?

I online chatted with a tech & they said they would have the server people look into it but then they followed up saying they couldnt find anything wrong.

There is something definately wrong though.

Since its audio its hard to explain but for example when you hear an audience on another channel the audio sounds full like its all around the screen but on abc it sounds more just centered on the screen not really a surround effect & the background sounds muffled.

Kinda like if you were switching thru fm radio stations then can across a station not in stereo it would just sound different.

Abc hd quality sucks.

Seems when the surround sound is loud in game of thrones the audio crackles....im using a dolby 5.1 receiver. The sound mix was great last year but now its unbearable. Is it also common on the on demand version? Is it a fios or hbo issue?

So yesterday, one of my FiOS STBs lost the local CBS affil in HD. It was still getting the SD instance of the station. The other STB was still getting it. But whenever I would try to tune to that station on the DVR STB the screen would go blank and the STB would freeze for about 30 seconds becoming totally unresponsive to the remote. Eventually, I did a hard reset and the station reappeared. How does the STB "lose" an off-the-air station and why would it require a reset to get it back?

Got this today -

On or after June 1, 2013, Cinemax will make changes to two channels:

@MAX (channels 429SD and 929HD), which currently features contemporary movies, will become MAX Latino, a Spanish language version of the Cinemax main channel (420SD and 920HD), with hit movies, original series, and more

WMAX (channels 428SD and 928HD), which currently features movies for women, will become MovieMAX, a movies-only channel with a wide selection of recent Hollywood hits, blockbusters, classics, and more

Well that sucks. the longer it takes to switch the longer it will take to add more HD channels.

Just got a message from fios that a few channels will be removed later in may. Most of them are sports channels

Honestly, in this case, you can probably blame smartphones. There are only so many semiconductor fabs in the world and the vast majority of them are being monopolized producing SoCs for smartphones. With no fab space for high volume production of chips that go into these STBs, supply of the STBs becomes constrained. There has been some struggle for dominance among quite a few of the chip design houses (Qualcomm, Nivida, and Apple) to try to lock up production capacity and keep their competitors from being able to get enough components to meet product demands.

I love bein sport. Pretty good channel. Too bad the audio is 2.0.
speaking of 2.0 why on earth isnt palladia always in dolby digital 5.1? Some of the concerts are not even in 5.1surround sounds,it doesnt make sense to have a concert channel and not have the best possible sound and picture Of all the music channels palladia shoud be the one channel that is HD dolby digital 5.1 surround sound 24 hours a day not only HD!mad.gif After all its all about the MUSIC!!!

I don't think I would call DD 5.1 the best sound available. Back in 1996 when I got my first DD 5.1/DTS 5.1 receiver maybe, but not now in 2013. When the advanced audio codecs that have been out for seven years now blow away legacy DD and legacy DTS.
I agree. Even core audio codecs that can be used by older recievers (DTS Core from DTS MA, Dolby Digital from Dolby TrueHD) can sound better than broadcast feeds. I have used surround sound since 2002 (speakers still around and working plus subwoofer) and used three amps, the first was a Sony 5.1 DD/DTS HTIB, the second Insignia 6.1 DTS Neo6/DD PLII EX from best buy which broke, and the current one from Circuit City (sic) from 2007 which supports 5.1 DD/DTS and hdmi connectivity to multiple devices for video output. When that one breaks, i'll get a newer reciever that supports hd audio codecs. Fios wouldn't even handle it with the compression....at least they have decent 3d hd content (ESPN 3D is ok, some of the movies on premiums are not as good as bluray). Seems that Fios hyped up Iron Man 3 too much.....i heard it was a bad movie.

Made $174 million to be the 2nd biggest opening weekend in box office history so guess it didnt work out too bad for them.
If 175.3 million over 3 days is bad. I have to wonder what your idea of good is. I've seen a few complaints about what they did with the mandarin but mostly its got very positive reviews.
And it's made over 500 million over seas already. Total worldwide take is 711 million now. That sounds extremely good for a movie that has been out for only thirteen days worldwide.(only a few days in the US)

Hopefully we'll get a chance to see it this weekend. I definitely play to buy the 3D BD when it's released.
