I'm cheap...so what happens if I stop my service?

Here is what I am looking for:

RealTV or TIVO (prefer RealTV)
No fee (so no TV guide download)
I want to be able to set it to record from Time A to Time B like a VCR.
Pause, Rewind, Forward live TV
IR Blaster that works with a Samsung SIR-T351

Does it exist? Do you have to pay the fee or lifetime payment? I only watch 4 shows a week, so I'd like to be able to program the unit to tape those 4 times each week and watch them when I want.

Is there an old school unit that might work? I don't even need a lot of space, 20 hours is plenty. I thought one of my co-workers said her GEN1 TIVO (Sony SVR2000 I think) might do some of what I want.

Please OBi-wan....

Look for a used Tivo with the lifetime activation already paid for. They are out there and can be bought and legally used. I contacted Tivo and they said its fine with them as teh activation stays with the box and is fully transferable to a new owner at no charge.

Never know you might get lucky as I did. I found an activated Tivo series one (Sony SVR2000) at my local Goodwill (I am cheep too) for $7  yep seven dollars :D

You guys are cheap! Me too. :)
I got a Panasonic Showstopper 2000 (basically a Replay TV unit) for $30 at a pawn shop. These might be good for you, wequay76, since the 1000/2000/3000 models all had lifetime activation built in. Models are actually PV-HS1/2/3000 and correlate into Replay TV 1/2/3000 units.
Nothing wrong with being cheap, just don't buy the fiancee a CZ or ya might get slapped. :)
