My first lamp also lasted well over 3500 hours although was very dim by then. On my second lamp. I use a DaLite HiPower screen which gives the PJ more pop and ambient light use as well. Fantastic in the dark too although it does lift the black level a bit but its ok. I'm sure on a JVC a high power would be stunning.
I agree, not enough 1080p content. Maybe now its worth waiting for 4K to come down in price and upscale 1080p material.
