Sports programming is among the most expensive to carry, as I'm sure you know. It really comes down to customer demand. Customers are welcome to call-in and submit requests for channels.

It will be an added value (free, obviously) to your existing services. Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

I use this feature on my TiVo from my blackberry all the time. Will the web interface be mobile device friendly or even better an application for Blackberry like TiVo has? Looking forward to it.

I realize that sports require the fees to be higher, but the Glastonbury area is paying the same amount as we are as far as I can tell from the web site. Like I said, I'm not a Yankee fan, but I'd have much more of a chance watching something from that than knowing I'd never watch HSN. I was gonna wonder out loud who even buys off those channels but I guess it must be quite a few since so many of those channels exist.

It will be available on mobile devices. I don't know about the possibility of apps, though.

Can you give us a heads up on what hd additions are planned for around April 1st? Thanks.
Anyone having problems with signal strength on the QAM channels? The analog channels all come in fine but the digitals all show low signal strength. All worked fine last night.

Not sure what the new stuff is, but it looks like we can plan on a few more channels and some channel juggling to go along with it:

January 21, 2010
BY ELECTRONIC FILING AND FIRST CLASS MAIL
Mrs. Kimberley J. Santopietro
Executive Secretary
Department of Public Utility Control
10 Franklin Square
New Britain, CT 06051

Re: Cox Communications New England/Meriden - Channel Reassignment
Dear Mrs. Santopietro:
In order to allow for the addition of high-definition programming on or about April 1, 2010, Cox Communication New England (Cox or the Company) will have to reassign truTV from cable channel 62 to cable channel 96 effective March 24, 2010. Cox will be providing the Department with information concerning the additional programming under separate cover. Notification will be given to customers via legal ads in newspapers of general circulation. In addition, Cox will be directly calling affected customers to remind them of this change in position prior to March 24. Because this change will allow Cox to provide additional high-definition programming in the Meriden service area, this change is in the best interest of the Company's customers, as provided for under General Statutes § 16-331v.
Please direct any questions concerning this submission to the undersigned. Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully submitted,
COXCOM, INC. D/B/A COX COMMUNICATIONS NEW ENGLAND/MERIDEN

I have lost all digital qam channels directly off the cable into my Toshiba DLP tv. I am getting them on the other Sharp LCD and via the DVR box, but not directly into the Toshiba. I have tried both tuners on the Toshiba ... nothing on either. A scan of the cable just picks up analog. I have connected an antenna to the same tuners and I get OTA digital stations. Don't know if it's a cable or tv problem ... any ideas?????
Thanks.

Does the tuner not find them at all or does it find them but then display "no video or audio found"? A lot of older QAM tuners were having the latter problem but Cox changed something and fixed the problem. Sorry, no comment on the former. Dad488

Setup was working until the middle of last week. Now neither tuner finds any digital channels on the cable at all. The DCT6416 III box and my other TV work fine. Both tuners find digital channels on an antenna, but not off the cable.

I traded in my 3415 with a bad hdmi port and got the new 3400. Works great except for one thing. When ff or rewinding both live tv or recordings on fox 61, the screen goes black until you stop. What a pain. It only seems to happen on fox. I was watching the game yesterday and the jets game on cbs rewinded fine (you could see the picture as rewinding. When watching the vikings on fox, rewinding is black.

Anyone else have this box with this problem?

Is Fox 720p or 1080i? How about ABC and ESPN, does the issue happen on those HD stations? They're 720p stations while most everyone else is 1080i. I wonder if there is a correlation.

Is anyone else missing the Celtics on 727 tonight?

I hope this isn't poor form to ask this here; maybe somebody's got an answer for me.

I'm in Wethersfield. I'm having trouble receiving a 5.1 signal from a few different channels, but specifically, ABC/702. Even in prime time programming, my receiver defaults to Pro Logic II and won't produce 5.1, regardless of what settings I've tweaked.

I've tried separate sources, and other channels (Fox, for instance) come through fine, so I don't think it's anything on my end, unless my cable box is the problem. I only watch ABC for Lost, so I really haven't watched the channel regularly in months, but I'm certain it was 5.1 back then.

Is this a broadcast issue, or perhaps something with my cable box (DCT6416 III)? I've experienced other anomalous issues with the box, but who hasn't? Thanks for any help.

IIRC, WTNH isn't broadcasting their signal in 5.1.

Fox is the only channel i have this issue. I have tried it on Discovery, ESPN and they each work fine.

Just a note, not HD related but some might find it interesting... Docsis 3 from COX went live in Newington yesterday afternoon.

Very Nice Speeds.

Did a scan this morning ... all digital channels are back on my Toshiba. I didn't make any changes, other than a rescan, so Eric / Cox, any idea what went on?????

Yes, Im on DOCSIS 3 too. Keep in mind though, even best case scenario, thats not going to be anywhere near your transfer rate. It has to do with the way channel bonding works and the way Cox does it's traffic shaping. You will be getting closer to your max cap more of the time though, since the bandwidth use on those other channels will be much less. For a more accurate test try:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's still a awesome connection.

Thanks. I could have sworn they did last year, but as I said, it's been months since I've regularly watched the station, and my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Can anyone confirm that WTNH does not broadcast 5.1? Thanks again.

WTNH news on now is 2.0. I checked an old episode of Grey's Anatomy my wife hasn't watched yet and it was 2.0 too.

Sorry about not getting back to this forum for the past week - it's been pretty hectic here.

It's one new channel, not several, and that's really all I know at this point. There will certainly be more throughout the year, but for now, there's just one on the horizon, and I don't know what it is.

I have a small Sceptre model from tigerdirect in my bedroom and last week the audio from CBS and NBC in Rhode Island switched (on the HD QAM channels). I rescanned and it worked fine. I feel like QAM is such a mystery.

I'll see what I can find out, but usually if we can't replicate the problem, we can't really provide an informed solution.

Happy to hear it's working again, though.

Thanks for checking. I emailed them through the contact template on their website, and the response confirmed that, no, they are not sending 5.1 but hopes "to do so in the very near future."

Thanks again.

Yes, I have experienced this on both my new DCX3400 boxes....although not as of late. Seemed to have to do with what the station was broadcasting in because sometimes while fastforwarding during commercials, certain commercials would show and others would should a black screen.

Happens all the time on our two boxes. Doesn't matter what channel we're on. It's a pain because you never know where it's going to stop.

Any word on the remote DVR scheduling?

Sounds like a HDCP issue. Try setting the output to 720p see if it happens. I assume your using HDMI?
