A few other thoughts,
I can also stream family pic's and music to any computer on the network. just like most of us keep our cable box on 24/7 I keep my HTPC on 24/7 which means any computer on the network can access any media on the HTPC. I can also be away from home anyplace in the world and log into my HTPC and watch what ever I want listen to what ever I want.
I also have skype on the HTPC mainly because my kids are grown and we enjoy talking and seeing them if they turn on there cam.
Some computer knowledge or a friend that has some. Like I said you do not need a very expensive computer.
it's not as easy as just pressing the remote for nick or disney but kids pic up tech stuff way easier than adults.
here's the big one:
My wife lol, she rolled her eyes I knew it was going to be a hard sell. She doesn't know all that much about computers she does facebook, e-mail and such.
She said if I can't record my shows and I have to use 5 remotes forget it.
I told her if she found it that hard I would get the cable and phone back and sell off the hTPC.
So far so good a few issues and a lot of praise hey sweetie I told you, you knew how to do it see.
The last thing :
Never not be able to record your wife's shows
never have more than 2 remotes for her
never say sorry dear we had a computer glitch
bad bad bad lol.
The whole thing was around 700.00 or so payback within 5-6 months.
I bought almost everything on sale or with a rebate from
newegg.com and amazon
