I was seeing many breakups with Smallville last night. Anyone else experiencing this? It was almost un-watchable. All other stations were fine.
It may be due to transmitter work which started recently on Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington. I live in New Britain's south end and didn't get anything on WTXX-DT (CW) channel 12. Comcast normally places WTXX-DT on channel 82-1 on my Sanyo LCD HDTV's QAM tuner. That, along with The Tube on 82-2 (WTXX-DT 12-2) and PBS-HD (82-3) have been blank for days.

WOW. I went on vacation in September. Something happened to the cookie for me to receive posts.

Anyway, I wanted to thank those who suggested solutions to the "no data" issue. But when I got back from vacation, the issue was resolved by itself. I normally leave the box on all the time. There must've been a power flicker or something because it was off when I got back.

Does Cox transmit the signal exactly as they get it or do they recompress it?

Their signal is sent at 19.3 mhz with no compression, according to an email I got from their technical department.

Very pissed off channel 107 barely works on my LG3510 tuner, OTA antenna is pointed North due to NO ABC-HD, i've been pulling my hair out with amplifiers with no luck!!
I'll need to position my antenna south and add another yagi north to get chan 40!!

All other channels on cable work fine!!

Cox you suck big time making my life a nightmare!!!!

There MAY be some good news on that front. My contact at Cox tells me that they are getting closer to a deal with LIN to carry WTNH. This is corporate Cox and corporate LIN, so it might cover WCTX also.

Here in New Britain, Comcast retransmits WTNH-DT channel 10-1 ("8-1"). We still don't get WCTX-DT channel 39-1 ("59-1").

On one of my endless online searches for info relating to COx/ Lin/ Hdtv updates, I've come across this article which may shed some light on whats to come to Cox New England. It relates to the Virginia Cox Offices, but normally they have had the same channels debuts, launch dates and rates changes, so it may apply to NE... for what it is worth, take a look

I am having line problems as techs were here last night, they now say it's my line in off the pole and i have to wait for them to come back.
I'm getting tired of cable lack of HD channels and the LIN ********!

To be honest, when I had comcast in MA, ESPN and Discovery were always encrypted. I don't know if you'll have any luck, but best of it!

They are supposed to be encrypted. Are you paying for them?
Yes i pay for them, i have a Moto 6416 DVR upstairs,we were getting them free using QAM, they must of realized and pulled the plug!
I'm using a LG3510 on a HD70 HD projector on a DIY 106" screen in my basement, the Cox tech was blown away last night when he saw it.

If you pay for them you must have one of their boxes, a dvr or regular qam box. Are you getting them through the box? The unscrambled qam channels should only be the ota hd channels.

I'm still a bit confused. All of the above except ESPN and DISC should be clear. ESPN and DISC should be encrypted. Do you get the other hd channels like MHD and INHD?

Another day, another huge sporting event I can't watch in HD, thanks to LIN/Cox. This sucks.

Thank you for inquiring on HD carriage of ABC(WTNH-8). We appreciate
and understand your frustration and your expectation that closure be
brought and the programming be made available. We assure you we are
working to that end.

We wouldn't be exaggerating to describe this as an extremely complex
issue that we are sorting through with LIN Television.

The fact is LIN has the right to seek compensation for their broadcast
signals. Cox has already negotiated and secured the rights for LIN
Television's WTNH analog signals. Those costs are currently
reflected in your monthly bill. We also have reached agreements to
carry the HD signals of every other broadcaster in this market, and in
our Connecticut market. At this time we are negotiating for the rights
to LIN's WTNH high definition signals. Those costs too will
have to be passed along, and that's why we are adamant that any
agreement is fair and reasonable for our customers. Because they don't
send you a bill directly every month for their service and we do, we
believe it is our responsibility and your expectation that we negotiate
a rate that is market equitable.

We assure you that both LIN Television and Cox want to get this deal
done and we continue to negotiate in good faith to accomplish that. It
is our hope that we can accelerate those efforts and bring closure to
this.

At this time, there has been no update to if and when ESPN2HD will be
available. If this channel becomes available in the soon future,
customers will be notified of the addition.

We hope that we have been able to provide you with the information you
requested. If you need additional information regarding other Cox
products or services, please visit our web site at www.cox.com.

Thank you.
