Criminal Minds on CBS - Page 9

I keep thinking I'm not going to like it, but we've got to at least give it a chance.

*Backdoor pilot for Criminal Minds 2 is on right now.*

I'm not a big fan of Forrest Whitaker, but I Love Criminal Minds, so I'll give it a shot.

Mixed reviews of the episode it looks like... but I personally loved it. So much to do in so little time with a big cast and I think they managed it well.

Watched CM last nite and the spinoff should be called a spinout.. Forrest W. was surrounded by a lame crew.. 1 token blonde, 1 ex-con and 1 British agent.. Did the FBI change their requirements lately to include ex convicts and foreign agents? He is a brilliant actor and deserves a better staff than was shown last nite..

I'm not crazy about the new team, either. And did Forrest Whitaker lose a lot of weight? He looks a little bizarre. I remember the blond techy from an episode of House, where she played a psychopathic patient. I thought she was okay, but the whole thing seemed forced to me. The British guy was just annoying, and the ex-con was boring. We'll see, I guess...

I enjoyed the show and if it i a spinoff I will give it a shot but Criminal Minds in itself is a great show

I liked the new crew, they actually have personalities, the regular CM group has to be the dullest group of characters on TV, the show itself being very clinical in nature. Maybe that's the intent, but it makes for a very dry viewing experience.

My initial feeling about the new team is to paraphrase Cornelius Ryan that such a show would be a spin-off too far.

Yea, well, everyone's got their opinion but the spinoff could spin-off to another dimension and I wouldn't miss it. Yes, Whitaker is a very good actor (albeit a bit odd looking) but I had absolutely no interest in the alternate crew.

I guess the FBI lets agents do whatever they want and then only fire the ones that f**k up; nice strategy.

And thanks Mike, I was trying to remember where I had seen that blonde tech before. Nice looking, OK acting but a bit strange (with what seems to be a really odd-shaped head ).

Of course the producers can gauge public opinion better than I can, perhaps this second show will grow on people.

I think they need to recast some of the supporting cast.

If this gets a pickup, I expect it to get the Friday slot Numbers is vacating.

She's pretty cute, though. THere seems to be a trend of having the techies as females. Not a bad trend.

I hate the spinoff.

Whats wrong Forest's Eye? One eye is half shut.

They just force relationships and the two teams had no chemistry. Where's Reed during the episode? I think he was in the episode for 1 minute only.

The Serial Killer was interesting though. FIGHT TO THE DEATH!

The eye problem is called Ptosis.. It is drooping of the eyelid caused by a weak muscle.. He said he may have surgery because it is affecting his vision.. Anyway his team is just unbelievable.. No ex-cons work as agents.. Looks more like the A-Team..

- As far as I know Ed Benero is staying on board the original Criminal Minds and Chris Mundy (who has written some pretty good episodes) will go to the spin-off. The original show will not suffer as far as quality.

- Chemistry between the 2 teams is neither here nor there, they won't be working together again unless there's a crossover next season.

- The CSI's are starting to fail in the ratings so it's possible one of those goes to 10 pm Friday, or The Good Wife slides in at 9 to anchor the night and Medium slides to 10. As it stands Criminal Minds is their youngest skewing drama and they're surely expecting a similar skew with this spin-off, so it'd be stupid to put this at 10 pm Friday.

It feels like NCIS in LA this spinoff.

lol

As this show has been on quite some time now, has there been any discussion around a story that brings back a previous child actor that was "broken" by a traumatic case, and is now starting out as a new serial killer?

Not that I know of, though that would be cool concept. There are tons of episodes I can think of where people could come back and be killers.

This season feels like they are just treading water. ION recently reran the 2 parter about the BAU in NY when Hotch's SUV gets blown up. The quality of those 2 episodes is in stark contrast to this season, which has yet to introduce an arc or interesting storyline. Are the showrunners focused on the spinoff?

Plus, I miss JJ.
last night was weak, worst i could remember
i also miss jj
I agree, weak eppy.. took the plot from "Psycho" and gave it a Criminal Minds twist.. Looks like the cast from the old Prison Break are keeping busy.. Last night Robert (T-Bag) Knepper was the villain and the other night on Chase, Amaury Nolasco (Fernando Sucre) is a good guy regular..
I dunno about that it still is a great show in my mind.
Once again, sort of a flat show. Something needs to happen to perk this cast up.
the scene with the kid shining the light in the bears face was pathetic.. A good ending would be for the bear to kill the kidnapper..
My only problem is Mrs. Piggy getting a bigger role instead of staying on her computer.

Bring back AJ!

Last night's show was a rerun (apparently from last season) but was one tha my wife and I had not seen. It was very obvious in watching it that the storylines were much better last year than in recent episodes, and also that the loss of JJ greatly affects the show (negatively).

Yeah last season had a bunch of great episodes. Last night's was directed by Matthew Gray Gubler (Reid).

DVR'd but didn't watch yet. This season is really flat.

This I can live with (from the Futon Critic):

CRIMINAL MINDS (CBS) - Rachel Nichols reportedly is in talks to be upped to regular on the series. Her character, Agent Ashley Seaver, "an FBI cadet with a troubled past" who assists the team, makes her first appearance in next week's episode. Said addition would fill the void left by the departure of A.J. Cook from the series as well as co-star Paget Brewster's reduced role. Brewster nevertheless "has been asked to return to a status of a full-fledged regular on the show but will weigh pilot offers," according to the report.

I thought this show was much better than most of the episodes this season. Rachel Nichols was a breath of fresh air, and the show itself was a little more intense. When they first introduced her, I was reminded of the scene in the beginning of Silence of the Lambs when Clarice Starling was on the obstacle course and was called to Jack Crawford's office.
