Criminal Minds on CBS - Page 11

good episode tying up a lot of loose ends. What did everyone think of episode? Nice to see AJ again, I will miss Emily..
I thought it was a poorly executed and sloppily written story arc, but I'm glad they finally wrapped it up. I've always liked looking at Paget Brewster, but now I realize either she can't act or she was mailing it in, pissed that she was written off the show, ala AJ Cook. I had to laugh. My wife was in tears at the hospital scene, then the funeral, then got angry when at the end it's broadly hinted that she survived and is in hding.

Some of the story was 'eh.' When she shot that one fellow in the car I thought she was hard core, but then we find it was an ear nick. Oh, I guess we have to keep her a "good girl" (reminds me of the 80s A-Team where they fire thousands of rounds from automatic weapons and yet not one person ever got a scratch).

It was nice seeing AJ again. And being a typical male, I feel compelled to state that I preferred Paget's "Lauren hair style" to the straight "Prentiss hair style."

Here's my theory:

Paget Brewster wanted out so they accommodated her with this story arc but why wouldn't she be in the final scene? I think it is because she expected to be killed and written out but the series producers want to keep negotiating with her for an eventual return so they had to shoot the scene from behind her using a double. They keep her character alive and hope to work with her again.

By the way, any chance of AJ Cook returning to the series?

I wish she looked so good last night. I am sure there is always a chance but the goal was to get rid of the 2 woman and they have great ending last night.

I wasn't real clear on whether they were able to capture Doyle at the end. Did they or didn't they?

Lauren Reynolds is dead, and now so is Emily Prentiss. I'd like to see a spinoff with Emily as an international spy. Hopefully she will return next year. The producers have offered her full regular status if she decides to come back, but she is free to explore pilots during pilot season. If none of them are picked up, she will probably be back.

it looked like he escaped and that is why they faked emily/laurens death

Aj comes back and no one gets excited on the team and treat like a foreigner.

Prentess has a fake funeral without anyone knowing.

WTH!

Agreed. This episode/arc felt very forced. Why they decided after last year to mess with a good thing is beyond me. Obviously budgetary, but how much will they really save? The chemistry is way off this year. The interplay between Emily and Morgan during the "death scene" was just not there at all.

When A.J. was talking to Hotch behind the doors, I got the impression that she may have told him the truth. At least that was my take on that scene.

I got behind on Criminal Minds episodes and didn't catch up until over the weekend. The Emily-Lauren thread was forced and preposterous. The escape of Ian Doyle while surrounded by the FBI and Prentiss' non-death, faux funeral, and resurrection in Paris took the cake in a show long known for its implausible plots. I confess, though, it kept me engaged. It makes me a little ashamed of myself but there it its. All of this shows that a show doesn't necessarily have to be smart to be entertaining.

I got excited. Bad move getting rid of her. Real easy on the eyes.

I wonder if she will be a stand in until Paige comes back?
^ Paget, you mean? And the answer is no. We have likely lost both.
Couldn't remember the spelling.

Well, I guess I won't be watching that anymore. They were reasons 1 & 2 why I was in the first place. I like Joe. M., but w/o those two 'honeys', it's not the same.

Anyone know the real reason they dumped both?
This is a complete guess, but I believe it had more to do with saving money than anything else. I do know that Paget was very vocal about A.J leaving and that probably was her nail in the coffin event.
It will not be the same and, like you, my interest is already waning. Watching four dudes and a wierd computer nerd = boring.

Can you give us a little more info about what you mean without getting the thread into trouble?

It's looking like Rachel Nichols is a regular now on the show. At least it seems that way as she is on every week.

I think what he meant was the behind the scenes wrangling that always takes place between the suits and the actors. A.J. was being let go for budgetary reasons, Paget tweeted or otherwise made her feelings known and then the suits termanated her contract.

Oh and the new girl, she's nowhere near the caliber of either Paget or A.J. but i'm sure she comes cheaper, which is the main reason she's there. I had almost forgotten her

While I agree to an extent, I'd say give it some time.

I'll be honest, I didn't think much of Paget in the beginning. When she first started, my first impression was she was nothing more than a Glaudini semi-lookalike whom she replaced.

She's cute, but you hardly ever see her.

Criminal Minds Exclusive: A.J. Cook Poised to Return as Showrunner Ed Bernero Departs
By Nellie Andreeva, TVline.com - April 13th, 2011

Potential great news for Criminal Minds fans: A.J. Cook is in talks to return to the CBS crime drama next season as a full-time series regular. Meanwhile, executive producer Ed Bernero who has run the series since the beginning is leaving. Another Criminal Minds veteran, executive producer Erica Messer, is set to take over as sole showrunner.

Cook departed Criminal Minds at the end of last season when her option was not picked up, sparking a huge outcry among fans. She appeared in the first two episodes of this season to give closure to her character JJ, who was transferred from the BAU to a job at the Pentagon. Cook then returned briefly last month for costar Paget Brewster's final episode.

Speaking of Brewster, she is filming a comedy pilot for NBC, My Life As an Experiment, and will continue with that project if it goes to series. But if it doesn't, I hear CBS has an option on her for Criminal Minds and, if it exercises it as many expect, the network would bring the cast of the show back to the way it was at the end of last season.

The developments, especially Cook's potential return to Criminal Minds, do not bode well for newly-minted regular Rachel Nichols, who was brought in to fill the void left by Cook's departure.

While things look bright for the female portion of the Criminal Minds cast, things are still murky on the male side, with stars Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore still not signed for next season. Talks are underway with the two actors whose deals are up at the end of this cycle.

As for Bernero, he informed the cast and crew of his departure on Tuesday night. There had been speculation that he would leave the series at the end of the season, especially after his script Partners got picked up to pilot at ABC in January.

Nice to see that JJ is coming back, but through this whole season finale I kept saying to myself I hope Amy Price-Francis is being groomed for becoming a regular.

To me it felt like the direction they were heading, but then nothing.
the meeting where they were told that offers will be coming to leave or stay is a writers ploy since several cast members are not signed yet.

we may even see emily come back

I had thought of the same thing the writer mentioned. The Rachel Nichols character and A.J. Cook character not only fill the same kind of roles in the show, they even look a lot alike.

I was wondering about that, too. It would be nice to see Amy Price-Francis back, too, but that would certainly leave the show with more gorgeous women in the cast than is usually the case with police procedurals.

She's been very busy this year with "Chicago Code" and her own Canadian series "King". Since "Chicago Code" got cancelled, I guess it would free her up some time

Maybe they should rehire "Ghost Dog" Forrest Whiteker since he lost his criminal minds show.

Forest Whitaker could never be called pretty but he is a hell of an actor, as his Best Actor Oscar demonstrates.
