This is my first post here so be gentle.....
Firstly I have an AE900 and use a 81c filter based upon the other threads in these forums on PJ setup.
pb_maxxx I have some questions about your paint choice and possible alternatives.
The reason being is I live in New Zealand and the brand delta paints are not avaliable here. There appears to be a FAS brand that looks to be the same type, a home hobby and artist type. In fact a possible copy of delta.
Look for fasart (damn can't post links !)
As an alternative, have you crossed referenced the paints with a more mainstream brand. Dulux for example.
Currently I have a painted screen of Dulux thomas tallis 474 which works quite well, but i have some issues with blue push that is more pronounced in dark shadows.
I only used 2 coats(roller) with no base coat. I see from the discussions in this thread and others that a bright white undercoat has better results.
As you guys , always looking for improvements and the alternative of a real screen is a joke cost wise. Remember double any cost's you guys have for NZ.
Back to the paint itself. How sensitive is the overall screen result to variations in brands which use different formulas to achieve a colour.(color for you guys).
I feel that the white, Clear and water(our water is arguably better
) can cross over to other brands, but the Pearl, silver and pale gold metallic's could be an issue.
The use of mirrors and plastic. I was wondering if you had tried creating the mirror plastic effect with paint layers? ie A couples layers of silver, A 50/50 mix of clear and white for a luminous layer(or just 2 coats of clear), then the top layers of your mix?
