Service Menu codes for displays are restricted because making adjustments in protected service menus can cause damage to your display: it can render them inoperable with no warranty

AVS provides this thread as a clearinghouse for service menus: post REQUESTS for service menu info to be PM'd to you

Hi,

I have Hitachi 42pd5000 plasma monitor (on the manual it also says CMP4211, I am guessing it may be a US name for it). I was playing with a universal remote and sent an unknown command to it which resulted in all settings maxed out, volume, brighness, etc. I then went to every menu and reset them to the default values (using reset button), however the picture is still not right. I guess some of the settings that were maxed out are not available in the user menus.

Does anyone know how to reset hitachi plasma to the factory defaults or enter a service menu? Please PM me with the codes/answers.

I would appreciate it if someone could pm me with the service menu access info for the Panasonic 42pd50u.

I found access instructions elsewhere that involve a sequence of volume and recall (I won't describe the sequence so I don't violate the practice of not posting these things here), but it doesn't work on my newly purchased unit. I had read somewhere that Panasonic changed service menu access this year.

I purchased my unit outside North America, in Brazil, if that makes a difference. But it appears identical to the NA units (with the exception of accepting PAL-M signals), and has the same model number.

OK I'll see if any ISF's are feeling nice to me :D - request for accessing the service menu of the Vizio P50HDM plasma so I can give calibrating grayscale (to the extent that it can be) on inputs other than its RGB input a shot. :)
