The IVTC modded version of Dscaler has all I need to watch MPEG2 HD movies: combined with Zoomplayer, FFdshow and Reclock I can get perfect playback at 24 fps or 25 fps on my HTPC. It supports ATSC closed captioning if needed.
When I watch interlaced content, I use the Kernel Deinterlacer offered in ffdshow which is fast and efficient for 1080i. However, using it is not very convenient because it requires to change a few options in Dscaler. One missing feature would be a support for an auto switch to a deinterlacer embedded in Dscaler.
I won't have time to implement such a feature and I am not really sure it is worth the effort. However, I have been contacted by someone who played a big role in Dscaler. I don't know what his plans are and if he has some time to work on Dscaler.
I have attached here the latest source of the modified component of Dscaler IVTC so that him or somebody else can work on it. It doesn't contain any new feature, I have just included the source for the Closed Captioning fix of the previous release.
