The OFFICIAL Toshiba 56MX195/62MX195/72MX195 OWNER'S THREAD - Page 36

The Firmware was taken from this thread half way down the page or so... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...9&page=3&pp=30

I followed the directions to a T as they are pretty simple... The Firmware installed and prompted me to remove the SD card and the TV rebooted a few times... Then I unplugged the TV and plugged it back in like I the directions state and now it's stuck at, "Now Booting."

Any suggestions?

Time to call Toshiba, you have most likely fried your digital board. Good Luck with this one, took me over 8 weeks to get it resolved.

VGA Resolution: From the owners MX195 manual, VGA port accepts specific PC resolution up to 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz.

1080p Input: Not supported, never claimed to be supported.

1080p Resolution: Native resolution of xHD4 DMD. Screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 60fps. All input is upconverted to this resolution.

I am new to all this stuff and would greatly appreciate your help,
so with this said would I benefit from the Oppo DV-981HD Universal DVD Player with HDMI, 1080p Up-Converting or should I stick to a player that would upconvert to 1080i such as the Sony DVPNS75H
post #1053 of 1327
Or,deinterlace 1080i..........

The Oppo looks to be about double to price of the Sony but you can't benefit from 1080p upconversion since the TV cannot accept it. The best input the TV supports is 1080i over HDMI so the Sony would be fine if the source resolution is your deciding factor. Other factors would be features, supported media, etc.

Keep in mind that these players do not accept HD-DVD disks but rather upconvert standard DVD content (480p) to HD format (720p/1080i) by filling in the missing resolution with video processing.

Thanks for your input guys this is a great site.
So in other words does the TV deinterlaces the 1080i and converts it to a 1080p LIKE signal
Thanks

I have noticed with my 56mx195 that it will not display any of the menu items or other graphics displays when it is operating in 1080 mode. Does anyone have any information about this?

That would be correct. The display converts ALL signal input to its native resolution,1080p wobulated.

what you are seeing is 1920x1080 pixels progressively displayed... that's 1080p.

You can't call that "like" 1080p, it IS 1080p.

The 981 uses the Genesis chip which will cause macroblocking on your DLP. I own a 970HD from oppo and set it at 1080i. The 62hm196 deinterlaces image perfectly, as can be verified by using test patterns. 2-3 hi def sites have reviewed the TV and found it to do 1:1 pixel display when set to Natural.

I think you will find the 970 a great fit and more than likely better option than the sony.

Cable or dish?Does this in any input? Try DVD and reply.......
If you have a set top box, peruse settings. If hooked up with HDMI,check to verify STB is complying.Sounds like maladjustments in input, not display problems. Solid blue light is at least 1 positive sign.....

OOps,just reread your last sentence. When you say you can't access menus, which remote are you talking about? Can you access INPUT on the Tosh remote?

When you unplugged display, how long was it unplugged? Also, what input was last set before problem?
If you can't access menu, you can't do a reset from there.
I unpluged it for 90 seconds, it was set to cable HDMI1, I just unplugged both HDMI inputs, turned it off/unplugged it again. plugged it back in yellow light flashed quickly about 3 times like a hard disk rebooting and then the blue light flashed. Turned it on solid blue light, herringbone pattern across total screen no control over set with remote except power on and power off

HDMI 1,no STB or are u using a splitter?
Do u have any pictures on an MB card.If so, try inserting the card into the card reader on the side of your display.
This would be the best test because if they don't show up,call a tech.
BTW,will the remote turn the set on and off.
The remote will turn the set on and off. I really havent even loked at the "MB" card, just turned the set on when I got it and plugged two HDMI inputs in, one cable one DVD and have been using it ever siince. I will read the manual abot the card not knowledgable about it.
Last question, promise. By herringbone pattern, are you seeing an all white background with small black DOTS? Or,are you see a white background with black lines forming SQUARES?

When you insert a card it will AUTOMATICALLY display. You wouldn't need to alter anything else. This would be an indication of something other then an input problem.
Ask as many questions as you want thanks for the help, I m lost, what I mean by herring bone is a repeating patter of black and white off center rectangles about a 1/2 inch in size, screen seaems to have ablack delineation line vertically in middle of screen so it looks like a left and right side and on the upper right 1/4 the black has bluish tint

Very weird
If you have a digital camera, take a picture, remove the card in the camera, and insert it on the right side of the display. There is a door you push to open to access reader.
No camera?
Thanks, I did just that from my camera. the herringbone display changed backround color from black to blue but all scrambled. When I say rectangles a better description would be a reapeating pattern of 1/2 inch lines in black, blue and white color all about 1 pixel wide
post #1080 of 1327
At any rate, your display is in full,at home, warranty.Call Toshiba customer service and explain the problem. They will either offer a solution over the phone(highly unlikely in your case) or offer the names of service people in your area.Good luck, sorry I couldn't help more.
