Bought my 56MX195 back in Jan 2006.
Light engine went out in April 2006.
Light engine replaced in June 2006 (no part available).
In August 2006, TV starts acting up. When turning on the TV, the display would go from low brightness to high brightness and back and forth all the while making a loud 'klunking' noise. Actually had to unplug the TV to get it to stop.
Also at this time, a loud buzzing noise starting to crop up.
Repair center took over a 2 months from my initial call to repair my television (mid Oct 2006).
Repair center took almost another 2 months to finally come out and pick up my TV for repair again, which I told them they are not working on our TV anymore (see below).
I called Toshiba CS and was told to work with a service center that was closer this time because the other one was further away and wanted to charge for mileage, etc, and Toshiba refused.
So this service center, which is located in Everett, WA, takes over 2 weeks to respond to my multiple calls and then show up. Then I have to wait about 2-3 more weeks (with no calls or updates) before the part comes in. They just showed up at my house without any prior warning.
The tech didn't even look at the inside of my television when he came out and 'guessed' it was the ballast board that was bad. Installed it and the next day the problems not only were still there, but now they are worse.
The 'klunking noise is louder than ever and I have to crank the volume over 40 to drown out the buzzing noise now.
I have been trying to get this service center to return my calls and after 2 more weeks of trying, I gave up and called Toshiba directly. It took them 4 days of trying to get a call back before they told me that I have to go through this service center again. Well, another week of multiple phone calls and promises to call me back resulted in them finally setting up a time to pick up the TV. This was for Monday 12/4. They never showed up. So I called Toshiba first thing in the morning and demanded that they authorize another service center to pick my TV up for repair. The next day, the people from this service center (Telesystems) shows up for the TV and I tell them to leave and they are no longer servicing our TV.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do with Toshiba to either get them to fix this quickly, or demand a replacement?
I have had 3 major components of the TV repaired so far, and it just seems to be getting worse.
My TV has been essentially broken after 4 months of owning it and has been in perpetual repair mode for over 7 months.
When the TV was working, it was phenomenal, but now I am just at the end of my rope with this thing and almost want to just trash it.
