Guess what my IP scan machine tells me? We have two forumers here who happen to share the same IP address!

Eh, might just be another coincidence...

But yes, I agree with badtyper: We need to need concrete proof and facts. Back it up.

I give up. It appears no one believes me. :( Who actually believes me?

Why does it matter to you who believes you? I could respond in this forum that I believe you, but you can't really know that for sure.

This whole this smells fishy, Walt.

What college do you go to? I'd like to check their records and see if you really attend there.

You are asking for folks to believe you. I want to see if that's warranted.

I'm not shooting you down, I'd just like to have something more...concrete and authoritative than an admittedly very interesting dialogue that you linked us to.

That's compelling, and makes you wonder, but...just need more! :)

Like I said again, I give up. No one actually believes me after all. Fine then, all Toshiba TVs are made by Toshiba, even the $70 Toshiba 13" TV. End of story here. I will withdraw soon. Bye bye all.
badtyper, why don't you go to the Orion website http://www.orionsalesinc.com/ and dial the 1-800-289-0980 number and confirm.

Thanks for responding to my post. If you can't even take a polite request to back up some of the things you say, then it speaks for itself, I guess.

You're making this stuff personal in your mind.

Do you really think if we call Orion directly that they're going to tell us anything past glowing PR and rhetoric?

All searches turn up 'waltchan' as the source of info (numerous forums). Still nothing concrete except this:

Quote:
The joint venture is Toshiba's third overseas production site for TV color picture tubes. The first site, in the U.S., is dedicated to producing super-large- and middle-size color picture tubes for the North American market. The second overseas site, in Thailand, is producing small- and middle-size color picture tubes, most of which go to the Asian market. The new joint venture will contribute to assuring a stable tube supply for Toshiba by complementing the Thai operation.

why are you thanking yourself for backing yourself up?

Your latest ruse is up. Come clean. You and koratdenkiworld are the same person aren't you. That's why no one believes anything you say.

Walt,
I believe evidence and proof, not emotional arguments on internet chat/forums.
You probably are right, I bet Tosh out-sources much if not all of their product, but show me something other than another typed forum thread.

Thank you. I thought I was talking to the wall the whole time. Here's a good place to start for proof:

So you're not with me anymore?

Why would I need two accounts? Originally, I have over 1,000 posts before deleting some.

Walt,
you are still talking to the wall.
All you did was link to another thread, not provide proof!
Bring in some evidence

Bring in some evidence
1. The on-screen display and the menu look exactly the same from the 26HF85 and the 30HF85. I cannot find any difference at all.

2. The power supply noise, when turning on and off, sounds exactly the same from the 26HF85 and the 30HF85.

3. The 34HF85's rear exterior plastic cover looks similar to the 26HF85 and the 30HF85. The 34HF84 and the 34HFX84 look totally different.

4. It sounds like to me that most of the parts are actually coming from Orion in Thailand. I clearly understand that the 34HF85 is assembled in USA, but the parts are actually coming from Thailand.

5. The service menu code is the same found in the cheapo Orion TVs. It is volume all the way down and press 9 on the remote in the 34HF85. Go to Wal-Mart and try that on the Durabrand 19" TV for $90. It works.

6. The power button is located at the left side of the TV, not at the right. Toshiba has never made any tube TVs with the power button located at the left side of the TV before. If you own an old Toshiba TV (any size), you know what I'm talking about.

7. mdtiberi posted some pictures inside his 34HF85. The circuits do not have the "Toshiba" sign stamped on the boards. The 34HF84 has.
We should ask azmodien. He owns both the 26HF84 and 34HF84 at the same time. He found a lot of differences.

Everyone outscorces, who cares? If the Toshiba brand is such a problem, then buy Sony....problem solved!!!! :p

Obviously some people care, otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to complain about certain brands so much.

Do some research, ask some questions, make a decision,& then be happy. Who the hell cares what other people think about your TV in your house? If you are happy, that is all that should matter.
You are so right. I have a Toshiba myself and am very happy with it. It's two years old so I guess it was made before all of this Orion bs. As long as you get a good product that's all that matters. I just think Walt has carried this way too far, it's become an obsession and should end. Enough already!

I know. I really want to end this and get out from this forum, but I have some followers right now, especially squonk, who have nothing to do in their lives but reply only to my posts. That's why this forum is looking downhill right now.

C.W.III,
I agree with you.
My problem is that in doing the research, I found it polluted with opinions from Walt that he has never factually backed up. I came to the AVS Forums to gain information to better enjoy my set, and I made the assumption that clear info would be supplied. If I or someone else does or will have a problem with the Tosh
hf85, it becomes another chance for him to go off on a tangent, with a "see, I'm right" answer, not a helpful answer. I am happy with the set, but, as with everyone here no matter what their brand choice, I would like to tweak and improve the picture. Walt makes it difficult.

Use your force for the good, Luke!

You have a lot of knowledge on Tosh's, you've put out a ton of good threads that have been helpful. Try to stick to the technical answers, and if you do have a problem with a particular brand, post some facts.
