For anyone interested the part number for the CD is;

This appears to include all of the JVC 2005 audio/video devices. No, the 1080's are not there.

JVC calls this the RP3 chassis

Rear panel input/outputs,

There has been some concern regarding the HDMI inpout and removing the back panel. I see no sensor and there is no warning in the SM regarding this.
It's not to say it might not be so, but I can't imagine how/why by just removing a cover would damage a input.

Note everyone... NEW HDMI port RESET INFO by Cesar Maciel at bottom!!!!. maybe a way to rest HDMI port WITHOUT a service remote.

There are several posts referring to some kind of anti-tamper sensor.


There is a mention in the WARING sections of the Z and Q series owners manuals on page7, section12 which says:
This television has a DIGITAL-IN terminal. Opening up the rear of the cabinet will violate the copyright of the program or software shown on the television. Please do not open the rear cabinet.

Frank Statton was having a problem with his HDMI input (black screen), the "tech": telling him that if the back had been off, it triggers a sensor that disables the HDMI port.

In this post Mr Statton says he had a HDMI board failure... Him saying the tech tried to reset the HDMI board by setting the remote code to 03-C6, then... to reset the HDMI, hit the number (3). In his case a board was needed, but that's the rest code the tech used. "I had the problem with the HDMI port becoming disabled because of opening the TV. Called Best Buy (warranty) and explained to the guy that I needed the reset operation. He informed about needing the service remote control, and said he would call JVC and check the procedure.
He called me later today with a procedure to reset it, using the TV remote control.

Turn the TV on, and enter de Service Menu. Select 2 for Self Check. Then turn the TV off, and after the fan turns off, unplug the power cord. Reconnect the power cord, turn the TV on, and the HDMI port is reenabled.
I tried the procedure and it worked fine. I left the power cord disconnected for 30 sec before reconnecting.

Got to run... I'm tired after typing up all the above. Hopefully all this HDMI anti-tamper sensor mess is a bunch of BS... That there really isn't a sensor, and that the HDMI rest can be done WITHOUT a service remote.

There is a "photo sensor" shown in ther block diagram. That is the closest thing I see to this. I see in this quote" if they took the back off then it triggers a sensor light that freezes the HDMI " that that might be the item. If so, could/would someone remove the back, put tape over the sensor, do that reset, remove the back again and see if that does the trick?

Love to know the reason behind this. Almost as bad as the 4x3 SD 'narrow' mode of the Mits!

I was curious to check my lamp hours on my 52g786 and went to D070 and D071 per instructions on post #1. I have had my set since July 05, about 6 hrs a day. Both registers indicated 00? D044 thru D187 are all 00. Just for the heck of it, when first entering the service manual, I selected 4 thru 9, a lot of interesting stuff there as well. Any mention of those values in CD??

I was referring to post #1 Lamp time 1 and lamp time 2. I went back and pressed [4] in the service menu and then navigated to the D070 register. It read 01, 2nd row= 001 01 0000 0001 , which according to the instructions is 1x256. In register D071 it read 7a, 2nd row= 122 7a 0111 1010 which indicates 122 hrs. So 256 + 122 = 378 hrs. If I got my math right?
