Maybe Ken can elighten us as to why he thinks that the NBATVHD games may become available soon?

I would definatley be interested to hear his take on it..
Most of the Sunday Ticket bandwidth is taken from pay per view, but a small portion is reserved (on A-15, A-25, and B-28)

And that "reserved portion" is probably what gets used during the week for HD hockey, baseball, etc.

As for NBA, my SWAG is that there is some sort of negotiation taking place with the content provider that has thus far precluded carriage of those events. Then, there will be the face-off (pun intended) against the NHL games vying for that scarce bandwidth that determines which event gets carried on a given night.

Just read read also that Mark Cuban is also looking into buying the Pittsburgh Pirates his hometown team so there could be even more HD sports for HDnet.

Wasn't there a rumors he was going to start a 3rd channel HDsports long time ago?

i don't think this is true, pittsburgh has wanted this for quite some time and he's stated before that he's not interested.

19:05 ... back to the D* logo for me.
Fricken' D* logo for me. When ESPN had HD games, they weren't for CI subscribers only. That better not be the case here.
playing with D*website...

definately need HDpak to view this channel...
probably with Center Ice as well(haven't changed that)
I had it for a few seconds as well, with no CI.
im guessing they are having technical difficulties..
I don't think this is an issue of what package you have at this point. i think it's screwed up for everyone. sucks
post #46 of 63
Anyone here that has HD and CI packages?
I bet KenH could find out the truth...

switch from E* to the evil that is D*?? Is that what they want me to do??
that is a good one (even though I have missed 3 Red Wings games already)

You need to help me to understand why this is D*'s fault and not E*'s? Are you saying it's wrong for D* to promote their offerings?

Sounds like you need to switch over if hockey in HD is that important to you .

I wonder if next week's Capitals game will be carried in HD? With D* not carrying Comcast Sports Net in HD and Caps games on HDNet being blacked out, it would be a rare chance for me to see them in HD.
not great though.

Compared to the little I've watched hockey on HDNET this season and the Canes/Penguins game from FSN-HD(ch 95 on D*) last week, this game would be just a tad softer then the other two sources.

Anyone here know if OLN-HD is 1080i or 720p? Also, am I correct in assuming that FSN is producing everything in 720p?

Thanks for any replies in advance.
it is in 1080i and the PQ is closer to HDnet and IMO better PQ than HD CI games in 720p on ch. 94-96.
The game actually looks pretty good to me. I haven't watched much of the HDNET coverage but I agree that the source here is soft from some angles. The best HD broadcast of hockey that I have seen to date remains the Heritage game from the CBC some two years ago.

What I am curious about is if those with both Comcast and D* as sources can report a A/B comparison between the two?

Well, let me tell ya.....

First, my D* subscription consists of Total Choice & the HD Package (& NFL ST/SF). No Plus, no locals, no CI. Having said that, I'm getting the game on ch 98, just tuned in as the 2nd period winds down.

Comparing to INHD2 on Comcast in Detroit, both look Ok, with a slight edge to Comcast.

On the other hand, the USM/Marshall game on EPSN2 HD looks much better on DirecTV. Oh wait, Comcast doesn't carry ESPN2 HD.....

My first look at OLN-HD (via Adelphia - for the moment - on INHD2) - I'm used to NESN for the Bruins games - and I thought the PQ and audio were pretty good. The camera positions at the Wachovia seem to be closer than at the Fleet (oops, Garden) - either that or the camera operators are zoomed in a little closer. Overall, I'm pleased with the broadcast.

Too bad the Bruins can't hold a frickin late lead this season... :(
