E! HD on 696 should be available in the next couple of days.
Yup, that is what I am seeing on the verizon forums. Another delay for the Boston area...

Just signed up for FiOS via their website for my new apartment. The site recognized my address and apparently it's already wired for FiOS - the preivous owners probably had service there.

Shortly after, I got a phone call - and they will be sending me a self-install kit. They offered, and I accepted it, since I like to tinker with things like this. Looking forward to 25/25 Mbps!

Ok so no 1.9

We did get E! in HD along with WNEU and a long overdue WENH-HD!
Thanks for the tip on WENH.. no one else has picked up on it.. Now all my fav PBS stas are in HD 502/511/518/544

I now have FiOS up and running in my apartment. The previous owner had FiOS, therefore the ONT was already installed in our bathroom cabinet. (What fun it was to figure this out only *after* organizing everything on the shelves)

After ordering online, they call me since they detected my address in their system. They ended up sending me a self-install kit. They included plenty of Coax cables, (1) HDMI cable, STB, remote, and router.

The box I received was Motorola QIP7232. I can't tell what the HDD size is - anyone know how to check?

Also, the router I received was an Actiontec Rev F. It supports wireless draft-N, but only with a max link speed of ~65 Mbps. Oh well - perhaps I'll pick up an Apple Time Capsule for a true N speed of 300Mbps. (for in-house streaming, file transfers, etc)

Install was pretty easy, and the picture looks great! I went with their Prime TV package and the 25/25 Mbps tier.

Welcome aboard.

The QIP 7232 has a 500 GB HDD. FYI, Verizon is currently deploying a new software IMG. This update is scheduled to hit the Boston area around Thanksgiving and will allow you to attach an external eSATA HDD to increase storage capacity if you so desire.

My HD-DVR was clearly putting out crap over the audio. Whether HDMI to the TV directly, or Optical/SPDIF digital to the Surround receiver. the clicks and pops are audible in the HDMI audio, and they drive the surround setup (Logitech Z5500) nutz.... usually getting it to just hang/shutdown randomly.

I got them to swap boxes, no change. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, can the software get any worse? Seems they keep making the FF/RW function ever harder to use. It over shoots or under shoots as if the box were drunk. Hopefully the new release end of Nov will have improvements and not deprovements.

OK, so I'm aware of the ongoing war between Vz and Cablevision, and the unfortunate impact it has on AMC's absolutely horrendous excuse for so-called "HD" picture quality on FiOS. As a big Walking Dead fan its really frustrating. It actually makes me wonder if the shows execs know its being presented in such a heinous format.

Anyone feel like ganging up on Vz with me? Figure if a few hundred folks complain that their touted "best HD picture quality" looks like VHS on AMC, maybe they'll put some heat on AMC to get their stupid act together and provide more than a 7Mbps feed?

So who's in?

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Wow, do you really believe that?

Forgive me for being pessimistic, but I've heard that several times since it was promissed before YE last year. I'll believe it when I see it.

Indeed. Hopefully there's not a strike or undisclosed network issue or it's too close to the year end or the IMG requires more work before being rolled out to more homes or it rains or...

... because this current software is THE WORST piece of crap ever. I can't imagine how the engineers look themselves in the mirror in the morning.

The "noise" on the digital audio is driving me nuts, been through 2 HD DVR boxes and the issue remains, the latest box is worse than the original.

The FF/Rewind control is horrible, it has unbearable hysteresis. Just trying to pause CH5 for the lottery numbers so my elderly father can check his tickets is like trying to herd a drunken cat.

Why the hell does the HDMI output of the box change resolutions when you change channels? The box knows what TV is connected to it when you turn the power on, why should they ever have a discussion over HDMI again unless the connection was lost for some reason? Going between HD and SD makes my TV pop up a status denoting a resolution change. The box isn't smart enough to simply fit the SD data onto a HD output that keeps the video signal over HDMI 1040i the entire time?

The worst software engineering ever. Do these people have any pride of craftsmanship? It's pathetic.

There's a setting to keep the output at a fixed resolution.

and it's all Troyka's fault?
Not at all surprised. I seriously doubt we will get IMG 1.9 in 2011 at this point.
Seems to be working fine here with the Cisco box, except the guide doesn't display sometimes(quick flash on the screen).
Other than getting a ration from the ole lady regarding not having Fox 25 in HD anymore, I'd say the service is pretty good.
at least YOU have the new guide with 1.9 on the cisco box.
Those of us with Mototolas are stuck
I'll be returning my cisco box pretty soon if anyone wants it. Got my 7MC and HDHomerun Prime working very nicely.
It tied this morning but I didn't realize and cut the power in the middle. A neighbor has been upgraded... the SD box, I assume "Cisco", funny thing is, the default setting enables Closed Captions and there settings menu has no way to turn them OFF!! So funny, not.

I'm hoping they fix the audio in this update, but prolly not.

How do I get it to update? Is there a way to force and update?
For those of you with FIOS in Bristol County (Mansfield, Easton, Raynham, and I believe North Attleboro and Taunton), WFXT was added to both the SD and HD lineup on FIOS.

It is still blacked out during FOX network programming like it is on Comcast, but it should help resolve the issues of people who were not getting FOX 25 at all.
