It is still blacked out during FOX network programming like it is on Comcast, but it should help resolve the issues of people who were not getting FOX 25 at all.

Any word on when the update to version 1.9 will be coming to Boston area FIOS?

Current software is so bad, if you hit pause, it reruns the last few seconds of play then stops.... lately, exactly how the software works changes every few weeks at random. Still horrible noise on the HDMI/Digital sound outputs from the, now third, HD DVR box. Everyone's personal computers seem to work right, so why is it so hard for Verizon to make this work right. Comcast never had this issue.... a lot of others, but not this.

More like 2/15 to 2/28, according to Verizon tech I just talked to today. He said if everything goes well in NY, we might get it by mid January, but, don't hold your breath. I got the email last week about the hard drive upgrade, assumed 1.9 was in place, but as usual verizon doesn't have a clue what they are doing. It's great that the Boston area is the last install for the 1.9 release.

You mean NY still gets it and Boston get6s screwed
post #1449 of 1508
So why the hell is Verizon sending out emails trumpeting the upgrade then?

90% and all my shows are still there.

I guess you can't believe anyone at Verizon. My wife turns on the TV this morning and release 1.9 was up and running. I really don't think these phone techs know anything - they are at the mercy of the upper level techs. I'll have to test out some hard drives tonight. Be careful not to put in a drive with data - the drive will most likely be reformatted to fit Fios' format and your old data will be lost. By the way, I'm in the Braintree area.

Got the upgrade to 1.9 as well. It's really fast navigating through menus. Time to buy an eSATA HD now.

So glad it's finally here! Anyone else having issue where the new guide seems to run off the edges of the screen? Not sure if it's a guide or resolution setting? I have about 9 year old HDTV HDMI converted to DVI, so not sure if that's an issue.

The data stayed intact, guess that makes me lucky. But the thing does say there is NO ROOM left when it is only at the 78-80% mark.

I still have this horrible sound problem, crackling on any of the digital sound sources... HDMI to the TV, or Coax to the TV or Surround, and Optical to the Surround. How am I the only one effected by this?

No problems with sound here. DVR is functioning normally.

The only crackling I get is usually on the premium channels, during loud battle scenes, such as the opening of Gladiator last night. Do you have problems on all channels, even during quiet scenes? Might want to try some different speakers/receiver.

anyone else notice that the aspect ratio buttons now work... and when watching a show on an SD channel with an HD equivalent, you can now press "C" to switch to the HD channel.
