Does anyone else have a buzzing on the audio for channel 505? I thought it was my crappy audio system (I cannot afford better) but then they added ABC from Manchester here and its perfect.

Also, are there any recent rumors of adding BBC in HD?

Do you know if/when Verizon plans to add the following digital subchannels:

WBIN 50.3: TheCoolTV
WNEU 60.2: Estrella (I think)
and WENH 11.3: NHPTV Explore?

It is Exitos for 60.2 and it is currently on channel 475

I would also like to see Ch 36.2 and 62.2 as well

Notice: Sunday's Red sox game (5-20) was NOT blacked out on TBS HD 552.

TBS SD on 52 had HLN but 552 had the game.

Another IMG upgrade this morning....now that looks much better.

I actually prefer the previous (lighter) colors... oh well. They should have just given us the ability to choose either the lighter scheme or the new darker scheme. A nice enhancement is the ability to set the amount of time the info bar remians on the screen after a channel change. The default is 8 seconds which was far too long for me. I set it down to 4 seconds... much better. The LED can now be dimmed which was a problem for some out there (not me). Also, using the "Last" button will now toggle you between a recording and a channel if you are using the DVR. Nice. Comcast always had that feature and I missed it.

NBC's Olympic soccer and basketball channels sprouted on 594 and 596 today. Niiice....

Is anyone seeing tiling and generally poor quality signal on AMC HD (731) and DIscovery HD (620)? I have been seeing this for many months now and am getting tired of it. I thought it could be my tivo or my TV but everything is pointing toward the service. My signal quality is great as is my SNR all reported by the tivo cable card statistics.

Spoke to Verizon and they are sending me a new cable card. Before they will dispatch they have to try the new cable card. I think the chances of this fixing the problem are about 2% but they required we do this before a dispatch.

Sorry to say that the chances of this fixing the issue zero to none. AMCHD has always been over-compressed on FiOS. The provider, Rainbow Media, stuffs AMC, IFC, Fuse & WE onto a single QAM. Other FiOS HD channels are typically 2 HD per QAM. There is really nothing you can do in the case of AMC as Verizon can only send you what they get. I do feel your pain though.

If channels were offered ala carte, I suppose that you could vote with your wallet and send a message. Alas, they are not. There are varying degrees of HD (just like SD) as you have noticed… bitrates factor in, 720p vs. 1080i factors in, compression, etc. Blu-ray is the only way to see HD the way it was meant to be seen. I see televised HD vs. Blu-ray the same way that I saw televised SD vs. DVD. Television cannot compete. Breaking Bad on Blu-ray is fantastic, BTW.

SO to take your argument to the extreme - you're saying ditch cable entirely and just buy the bluray's of the shows I like to guarantee the best quality...an option but not quite as convenient. So I guess I just have to live with the poor quality. Thanks for your help.

Overall I am very happy with the FiOS product which is why I continue to pay for it. It sure beats Comcast. AMCHD is the one channel that I watch that has a lousy picture and I have learned to live with it. I saw the first two seasons of Breaking Bad on Blu-ray before catching up to live and the difference is jarring. Oh well. All I was really saying is that you can't blame FiOS for this particular problem.

Any idea why NESN is suddenly blacked out on Verizon?

Both ch 76 and ch 576 are blank.

Technical difficulties. I saw a message on Directv that said so when I was watching the pregame show, it happened around 6:35-6:45 and lasted until the usual blackout message came on at 7. I live in NC and so I rarely see the NESN games. I am watching it on MASN; 0-0 top 2nd.

Understood - but can't Verizon push their provider to change the way the publish the content? They are certainly a big enough player in the market. No?

Rainbow Media which owns AMC is a subsidiary of Cablevision, a Verizon competitor. So things are not as simple and easily resolved as we'd all like.

Well that explains it perfectly. I wonder if that is truly the reason. Thanks! I guess I'll send the cable cards Verizon sent out to me back. I knew they would not resolve the problem but base don this feedback I'm not spending another minute troubleshooting the issue. I wonder why Verizon support doesn't know this??

ENH Prime is on 511 only with ENH Explore on ch 11.

I don't believe they will be anytime soon. I think they stopped expanding and the only places that have fios now are the only places that will have fios for the foreseeable future
