Ok so i may buy my mom a dvd recorder for christmas. she tapes a lot of stuff off of tv. she currently has regular analog extended basic cable. she does not want to pay a monthy dvr fee and since she has regular analog cable i thought a dvd recorder would be good to replace her vcr. this may sound like a dumb question but if you buy the dvd-rw disks to record on the player do you have to reformat the disk after you use all the disk space or does it simply record over itself. Or is it even possible to record more than once on the disc in these machines even though it is a dvd-rw?

OH and is there much difference in picture quality between the expensive models and the cheaper models. She has home movies and i would like her to be able to transfer them over to dvd. thanks for any help.
