I went from the R50's to the TSi300's to the RTi8's, and am finally satisfied with the RTi8's. Also went from a HTiB center to a CS10 and a CSi3. I'm finally satisfied with the RTi line and won't be upgrading anything for a long while. They're extremely detailed and do a really good job of imaging.....I finally have a system where the speakers 'disappear'. They can get a little bright at times, however, and I'd recommend getting a good, detailed sub. I recently added a HSU STF-2, and now everything seems perfectly balanced.
The speakers are pretty sensitive (90 db sensitivity) and don't need a whole lot of power. Any half decent receiver should be able to power them. I did bi-amp the RTi8's, but only so the tweeters and woofers can be driven independently.
As for the surrounds, I'm using the FXi3's, set as dipoles. Some people prefer dipoles, while others hate them. I happen to like the sense of spaciousness and ambiance they create. They make the room sound much larger than it really is. With dipoles you do lose some of the directionality of the surrounds though. If dipoles aren't your thing, you can always hunt for a pair of RTi4's instead.
