Cox HDTV - Page 2

Cebridge has bought a large area of Cox in this part of the country, the transaction to become final around April, I believe.

Anybody know what to expect as Cebridge takes over? Maybe more HD channels(Cox's lineup here is paltry: No TNTHD, no ESPN2HD, no PBSHD)? I can't get any info from Cox; maybe they just aren't being told anything.

Cox Phoenix has also just added MHD (Music HD). They show a lot of repeats but the PQ is terrific. Plus they show the clips from Creams reunion show. The Cream clips are incredibly vivid and is in a nice sounding Dolby Digital Format.

I am still waiting for ESPN2 HD - lets get with it Cox!!!! The Texas cox lineup is very similar to what phoenix had a year ago.

You guys are all lucky, the COX HD lineup where I am has no FOX or CBS, meaning the whole reason I got a nice big flat screen HDTV (to watch football) is null and void since I don't GET the two NFL channels in HD, and the normal SD versions look WORSE on the HDTV. So I basically paid for a bigger, HDTV to watch football in WORSE quality than I could have on my 27" standard def TV. We do get ABC in HD though, so I guess I can get a few NCAA football games in HD, which is a little pick me up.

Do your local Fox and CBS stations broadcast in HD? If not, then Cox cannot carry them in HD.

Cox has always picked up the local stations here very shortly after they get their HD signal up and running.

We just got A&E HD beginning of Aug. Channels 1002 thru 1099 are in the guide as duplicates of our analog channels but can't be viewed so it looks like digital simulcast is coming for our Analog Ch. 2-99. Finally! However, don't know yet if XHDTV ( My Network TV) which broadcasts from Tecate, Mexico will be transmitting DT. So far they are only still only analog.

Since August 15th, that's all. We did not have that, or MHD, previously.

The NFL Network is new within the past couple of weeks. Note that we do not have either PBS HD or Fox HD. I can't explain PBS HD's absence but the reason Cox doesn't carry Fox is that the local Fox station's owner, Sinclair Communications, insists on being paid for the privilege. All other local station owners allow Cox to carry their HD signals without charge.

Not having ESPN2 HD is frustrating, as is the relative paucity of HD channels. Frankly, if Cox did not also provide my Internet and telephone services i would probably dump them for D*.

I am from RI and in the same exact boat as you are. Sucks doesn't it? I called COX asking about CBS and FOX and they just tell me they hope they can get it by the end of the football season....yeah right...im not holding my breath. I hate COX and wish I could get Comcast.

Looks like you're being held hostage by LIN as we are in CT with ABC.

Seriously if they threw that one in the mix, I'd be pretty much satisfied (relatively) with the HD lineup. Does anyone actually have any real info on if it's coming? Have other cable operators gotten it?

I was visiting my father in law in Detroit, and comcast has ESPN2 HD...I was so jealous! I never had anything but comcast until I moved to Northern VA, and Fairfax County has Cox with no ESPN2 HD! I would be completely satisfied if this were added!

Many people with comcast get ESPN2 HD; hell they'll probably have "the ocho" in HD before Cox gets ESPN2...LOL!

Anyone know if Cox has plans to add the NFL Network to any of their other systems?

Given the NFL Network's strong arm tatics that seem to have blown up in their face, until the NFL comes off their high horse, I doubt it.

Quite frankly, anyone that would drop cable for 4 NFL games has already most likely done so and is on D* for ST. The cable companies know this and certainly are not sweating it.

i have NFL network on the sports package of digital cable.

i have Cox in middle GA.

I won't be dropping Cable to just add a few NFL games. Now when E* or D* adds my locals in HD, I'll consider moving on.

Does anybody have imore info on when Cox will be expanding the HD channel line up?
Is it restricted by bandwidth until more channels are digital?
I just called and they said "they should have more by summer of next year"?

I am curious why some channels are HD on Directv but not Cox, National Geographic for example.??

Maybe for wishing thinking? National Geographic isn't HD on Directv either.

1. Nope. Occasionally they will announce new channels a bit in advance in a mailer, but it will only apply to your local market.

2. It may be in your area.

3. CSR talk, but the time frame is long enough that I'd be surprised if it wasn't true.

Whoa what a stroke of luck! I'm scrolling through my guide this evening and what do I see? ESPN2-HD!! No announcement or anything... just there it was. Now I won't miss out on any big college football/basketball games in HD.

You know, I've had my issues with Cox in the past. But honestly they're making it hard to complain lately between the comparitively full HD lineup as well as the recent 7mb/12mb speed bump for the internet.

Don't lose hope my brothers! This might be part of a larger roll-out. Has anyone else gotten ESPN2 just recently?

That is exciting news! I want my ESPN2HD...maybe when INHD2 goes off the air.

Hmm...that is great news! It'd be nice if ESPN2HD makes it across the border to East Texas and Suddenlink(formerly Cox).

ESPN2HD is listed on the wbsite for Cox Lafayette. Good news, even if it is not on the system yet!
