Cox in Palos Verdes finally has M HD!!!!! I'm currently viewing the Video Music Awards that took place nearly 3 months ago. Now if COX could pull out a Hail Mary and land ESPN 2 HD, Cinemax HD and HDNET, among other existing hd channels.

BTW I'm in Baton Rouge, LA... so our updated lineup is as follows:

703: NBC
705: ABC
706: FOX
707: CBS
710: WB
712: PBS
728: TNT-HD
735: ESPN-HD
736: ESPN2-HD
746: Discovery-HD
750: Universal-HD
772: MHD
780: INHD
781: INHD2

790: HBO-HD
791: Showtime-HD
792: Starz-HD

You know, I've had my issues with Cox in the past. But honestly they're making it hard to complain lately between the comparitively full HD lineup as well as the recent 7mb/12mb speed bump for the internet.

Don't lose hope my brothers! This might be part of a larger roll-out. Has anyone else gotten ESPN2 just recently?

I called Cox just a few min... ago to say thanks for finally adding ESPN2HD. Now I'd like to get National Geographic HD and HDNet.

Cox OKC has just added ESPN2 HD via the stealth mode, too: No announcement, just Presto and there it was. Anyway, I'm grateful.

And people say Cable has it over Sat. Congrats on ESPN2. Only a year after every other provider had it.

Nothing in Fairfax.

I even called and the CR rep is basically like .

I tried to explain that other affilliates were starting to carry it...

It took 4-5 months to get MHD after some people had it day one...

If it's a bandwidth thing, turn off INHD2 now... jeez.

ESPN2 HD is now up on Cox in Phoenix and Tucson, replacing INHD2. No notice, but the channel lineup on their website is updated.

When I saw this thread the other day I emailed Cox here in Phoenix asking when we were getting it and they said no changes until next year. The next day it was added.

Yea, I gotta believe I'll get it within the next 3-4 weeks...

I noticed that some of the other regions, most notably San Diego who is a market comparable to Fairfax (250,000 subs), they said something about Dec 13 on their homepage?

So perhaps that's a good ballpark for me.

I sure hope so...

Too bad I won't get to see Virginia Tech/Wake Forest tonight though.

Assuming you're talking about Lafayette, IN - WLFI-TV, that station is owned by LIN Television which is struggling with Cox agreeements on many network affiliates.

The LIN lawyers and people just visited our local Cox here in RI about 2 weeks ago and my uncle said things went pretty well, now they are talking on a national level. Also DirecTV just launched locals here in RI and they dont carry either CBS or FOX in HD, so its just not COX that LIN hates too......

Can you keep us up to date on this? I am from RI and i'm sick of watching the Pat's game on standard def.

Well Hopefully with the on coming of FIOS in RI (should be early 2007) since most of the procedures have been gone through I believe they are just waiting for their franchise Cox will get off their butts and offer more HD content for the New England Area I swear it seems like we are stuck in the stone ages as far as Cable goes, At least I can get FOX and CBS OTA . Hopefully they will expand in our Area as FIOS has a VERY competitive package as far as price and what they are offering from what I see right now they blow Cox out of the water in the New England Area as far as offerings go............

Cox Communication HDTV Lineup As Of December 13th, 2006 (FOr Hampton Roads)

703 - CBS HD, I only use it to watch Concerts, Sports and the "Awards Shows" (ie Grammies and What not)

711 - ESPN2 HD (NEW!) - Again, the sports..... and NASCAR next season in HD, and whatnot

712 - ESPN HD - Sports Center, lol, If there is a game on in HD i Dont get, they usually have the highlights in HD

715 - PBS HD - I Havent even tuned to the channel, waste of space in my honest opinion

721 - HBO HD - Heard Good things, but my DVR is Spoofed and wont let me access it (yes I pay for it, the box is bugged, tech said i need to replace it, but havent had time to)

722 - MTV HD - Awesome for concerts and Awards Shows (VMAs etc), need to get some more concerts (ie linkin park etc) im tied of watching the same 4 or 5 concerts, and the same rotation of upsampled videos (though they look tons better than MTV/MTVhits SD (528x480 wtf, that isnt even NTSC res)

731 - Discovery HD - Man Oh Man, American Chopper and a bunch of other shows in HD....

751 - Max HD - Same as HBOHD (Bugged Box)

761 - Universal HD - Awesome Stuff, Battle Star Galactica and Stuff In HD! and Movies

766 - TNT HD - Watched Nascar Stuff on it, a well as Movies...

769 - SHOWTime HD - Same As HBOHD (Bugged Box)

795 - INHD - When They Added ESPN2, INHD 2 Was Removed Because InDemand is Terminating the INHD2 Channel and Merging the Programming into 1 Channel

It's permanent. There was actually a press release about it, and it was on the news last night.

Hopefully Belo is the next deal Cox signs. KTVK is an independent station here in Phoenix owned by Belo that carries all their home Diamondbacks games in HD, but Cox doesn't carry their digital channel.

Anyone have a link to the press release?

Lin Tv & Cox

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIN TV Corp. and Cox Communications Ink Digital Carriage Deal
Cox subscribers in LIN TV's markets will have access to top-rated news, sports and entertainment programs in HDTV

PROVIDENCE, RI and ATLANTA, GA (March 1, 2007) - LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL) and Cox Communications today announced that the companies have reached an agreement for retransmission consent of broadcast stations in both analog and in high-definition.

We are pleased with the outcome of our negotiations, said Vincent L. Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV Corp. Our stations are leaders in their markets and we've made substantial investments to bring our viewers high definition digital programming. The agreement reflects fair value to both parties and is in the best interest of the consumer.

LIN stations are important to our mutual customers, and Cox is pleased to finalize an agreement providing for long-term carriage of both the analog and digital signals of those stations in the applicable Cox markets, said Bob Wilson, senior vice president of programming for Cox.

The deal enables hundreds of thousands of viewers to watch LIN TV's award-winning news, sports and entertainment programs in high-definition from the affiliate stations of WALA-TV (FOX) and WBPG-TV (CW) in the Mobile, Alabama - Pensacola, Florida DMA; WAVY-TV (NBC) and WVBT-TV (FOX) in the Norfolk, Virginia DMA; WNAC-TV (FOX) and WPRI-TV (CBS) in the Providence, Rhode Island DMA; WWLP-TV (NBC) in the Springfield, Massachusetts DMA, and WTNH-TV (ABC) and WCTX-TV (MyNetworkTV) in the Hartford - New Haven, Connecticut DMA.

The agreement also grants Cox Communications the right to LIN TV's locally produced content for Video on Demand (VOD) and a new Local Weather Station will be available for viewers in Hartford and Florida's Gulf Coast, featuring the stations' trusted meteorologists delivering hyper-local weather conditions, forecasts and live, local Doppler radar. Local Weather Stations offer continuous local weather information, up-to-the-minute, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Cox Cable subscribers in Rhode Island and Norfolk currently have this resource with the WPRI Eyewitness News Pinpoint Weather Station and the WAVY Weather Station.

It would be nice to have Cox add HDNET. I've been asking for this for a couple of years now.

I agree. I found this channel to be one of the best when I had DirecTV. I have contacted Cox with the usual lame reply that it has been forwarded to the appropriate office.

Other cable systems like Comcast and Time Warner are starting to phase out analog signals over their cable systems to allow them to broadcast more digital stations. They recently did this in Chicago and on Long Island. Has anyone heard that Cox may do the same in some of it's areas? I suspect they will all do this once we get to the analog shutoff date in Feb. 2009. See the article at the Multichannel website under the "channels" tab where it says "cable operators" - you will see two articles there related to the above stories.

Has anyone heard from Cox on their plans on how they expect to make the digital switch, if it is going to be done all at once or gradually? If everyone will be required to have a digital set-top box and/or if we can use our QAM tuners (now being built into most new HD sets) to get most digital or HD cable channels? Anyone heard anything on these areas related to COX? Does anyone know who to contact at Cox that could answer these type of questions?

I had service call at my house on Saturday, and was told that in CT Cox will have digital simulcast starting in July. This means that they will be able to shut off most of analog by 2009.
