Who are the NEC Owners on here

Hi, I think you'll find quite a few NEC projector owners around here, I being the most recent one.

Anyway, my setup isn't quite fullfilled, still building my HT. I also plan on using Moome's DVI/Component external box also to switch sources for HD and dvd playback. I just got it last week from a local AVS Forum guy.

I have a 6 PG+. Actually, I'm leasing with an option to buy.

I'm looking forward to getting a new cap (thanks, Ricardo and Marc) to remove the keystone buzz. I just switched from floor mount to ceiling, so I'm having to re-learn setup and convergence. This is my first CRT, which I got a little over a year ago.

I just added it up, and it's a pretty sweet pic for a setup that cost me $998. That doesn't include, of course, all of the free advice that has made this possible.

NEC XG135LC, Faroudja NRS, Sony DVP7000, Sony DirecTivo, Da-Lite 45*80 screen. I've had the NEC for about 4 years.

XG852 -- one of a set of 5 that Curt Palme and I bought from a sports bar in Denver. I did the heavy lifting so I got the pick of the litter. It's had some major "challenges" but it still throws a pretty nice picture. Feeding it with a Momitsu v880N, and occasionally Dish HDTV.

NEC 10PG, HTPC, 161" curved silver screen, black velvet windowless basement theater, a 9PG as a test bed just in case the 10PG goes down.

I'm on my fifth PGXtra, this one being a real keeper. Mint tubes, probably less than 1000 hours. Still working out an issue with the red tube cutoff, but once that's fixed it should be golden!!

Also added Moome's transcoder/dvi stripper and although I only tested the component function, it appears to be a very nice piece of hardware. Looking forward to HD-DVD or Blu-ray....don't really care which.

I have an NEC XG 135 in great shape! here from France

I also own an NEC (6PG Xtra). It aint hooked up to nuttin though, cause it's on the floor in my shop. a customer gave it to me 6 years ago when he purchased a Marquee 8000.

The 6PG Xtra is probably the most underrated projector ever manufactured. Definitely my second choice for an 8" CRT.

I have a XG852 mounted, driven by a Sony DVP-NS7000 DVD player thru a Rock+ video processor, shooting an image at 100" wide (107" diagonal) 1.3 gain Stewart StudioTek microperf screen. I also have a XG-751 for backup purposes and a Lumagen scaler on the side in case the Rock dies (again). The XG was setup by Doug Baisey himself.

Sound system is a Denon AVR-3803 receiver driving Polk RTi55s behind the screen and HK Citation surrounds. Backup sound system (actually my primary audio) is a Sony TA-F808ES high current amp (drives loads down to 2 ohms) and Sony SS-M9 floor standing monitors and Polk LSi15 floor speakers.

I am planning to overhauling the system to a Marantz VP12S3 projector which I bought eons ago and it's still sitting in the box in the corner. The sound system will be upgraded to an Arcam AVR300 setup next year.

Let's see.....

A PG9 on the ceiling because it runs fine and I have been too lazy to change it....
4 PG9plus with usable but not perfect tubes...
1 PG9Xtra with absolutely pristine tubes except the little CH2 burned into a corner.... (*&%() No, I can't avoid it with 16:9.
1 Runco 980 ultra with good tubes that I plan to hang.... Hoping to do an LC mod to it first.

And 3 brand new FACTORY NEC PG/PGplus tubes still in the box!

The PG9 is mated with a Silverstar 110" diagonal 16:9 screen.

Everything is driven through an ISS-6010 switcher, Petr's transcoder, (soon to add Moome's card to be made for the ISS) My trusty Momo 880, HD from an RCA DTC-100 box....
And so on. Nothing fancy, all done on a budget. But I'm happy with it.

Add to the hobby pile 2 sony 1030's and a 1031 to be heavily modified. Also a Sony 722 to play with. And (ghasp!) a couple of LCD's in the closet.

Always looking for yet another projector. I have no idea WHY.

Well worn NEC XG 110 here - in storage.
Its been replaced by an Optoma H78DC3 which I am very pleased with.
May sell the NEC, may hold on to it to see if values ever rise again.

XG-110 with OK tubes, and a spare XG-110 with 9+ tubes in the closet for spares minus the chassis, HTPC and 110" homemade screen. Also an empty PG+ chassis, that I am about to get rid of as I stripped it bare.

XG-852 with original NEC tubes about 4700 Hrs and still looking good.
I Will have to start thinking of new tubes hoping the VDC will be ok.
By The way I do have a question I still have the original box It has a section that says model number the section that says XG-852 is check off then there are two other sections that say XG-852G and XG-852J. Does anyone know what the letters in the end mean.

Mine is also a XG-1352.

Newbie 9PG Xtra owner here. <500 hours on the unit, pristine tubes other than very slight wear on the green, just got it up and running last night, my first attempt on a from-scratch setup. Still need to fine tune geometry, convergence, and astig on red CRT, but it's watchable now and looking great!

Running Comcast HDTV + Pioneer DV-59AVi through a Lumagen VisionHDP scaling to 720P on a Da-Lite motorized 80" wide 16:9 screen.

Those who say setting up NEC CRTs is hard has never done a Zenith.

Plain vanilla 6PG. I have only owned this for a short while and I'm still learning but it gets a little better each time I mess with it. It has a green tube with heavy wear but I have a new one ready to go once I get more comfortable working inside the machine. Don't have much time lately for tweaking and setup.

XG135LC With new NEC tubes, HTPC(P4/2.6, Radeon, H3d, FFdshow, Xcard, MYHD-130), Moome's Component-DVI input card, Dalite Screen 120" (4:3) tensioned Cinemavision (1:3 gain). Going on 3 years with this setup; Biggest problem? Dalite screen becomes sticky with age, PM me if you want a fix for it that works...Scott

9PG plain jane with sexy black paintjob thanks to Ericglo. Running HTPC with recorded HDTV transport streams and DVD's but I haven't played with upsampling or filtering yet. I'm running 1280x720-72 progressive on the floor for now but with ceiling mounting in the very near future. Screen is 84x47.25 blackout cloth and picture is awesome but apparent contrast is crappy due to white ceiling and glossy brown walls (rental house, argh!). It's amazing that an image this good can be had for less than $800 invested!

Similarly, I'm technically still a NEC owner 3 times over.

I still have a DP1200, a 6200PG Xtra, and a 9PG.

I also had another 6PG, which is now dropzone's (5 posts above). Before he picked it up, I was seeking a better G tube for it. Instead, I found a 6PGX, but it also had some wear. I'm impressed with the nice picture and colors even with worn tubes, but I was was too lazy to do a proper setup without Point, so I searched for a point card.

I found a 9PG instead, only to be told afterwards that the 9PG point card is incompatible with the Xtra . So the 9PG will stay in a friend's garage until I get around to finding a home for it.

Sounds like you guys are pretty stocked on spares, but I'll list all 3 of these in the For Sale forum just in case.
