BB-Dec 18 camp out time? - Page 3

Since it is only 3 days away now, has anyone asked any BB employee/managers about the supposed "re-launch" this Sunday the 18th? and how their store is going to handle it. tickets/numbers, sign up sheets, or just camp out and see how it goes.......
hope they don't actually advertise it till sunday and fewer show up. We had a small BB ad in todays paper but no xbox 360 mentioned.

It may interest you all to know that Best Buy's website intends to have 360's available for online order as well on Sunday. At exaclty what time and how many units will be available, we haven't been told, but there was a note in the most recent Retail Insider to that effect. So for all of you who find the lines intolerable, it might be worth a try (although I'm sure that they will disappear mighty fast from the web).

i'm sure i speak for all of us when i say i'm quite interested and exactly how sure are you of this and any idea EXACTLY WHEN they will be posted?

Unfortunately, I don't know that there is any way to know specifically what time on Sunday they will show up on bestbuy.com. All I know is that the most recent issue of best buy's retail insider pdf said what we already know about ALL 360's going to each store MUST be held for 8 am openings at all stores... and more interestingly that "also on the 18th, bestbuy.com will also have 360 in stock and ready to ship..." I don't remember the EXACT wording, but that is a pretty close paraphrase. When I'm in at work tonight, I'll recheck it to make sure there wasn't anything more specific. Who knows how many units will be available on the web, but presumably word will get around fast and people will be waiting to snipe them as soon as they do show up. Certainly more of a gamble than waiting 15 hrs in line in the snow, but a hell of a lot more pleasant!! good luck!

Checked it out tonight, and it actually said that 360's would be available on the web at approximately the same time that stores open on Sunday (which is 8 am)... although in which time zone they would base this on, I'm not sure... so I would guess anytime between 6 am and 9 am is likely.

well since bb has been hoarding whatever allotment they have gotten since the launch date. Selling whatever left over 360 they did not ship out to the actual stores makes sense. So they can get them on the sale books for december sales and there is only a few days to actually get them shipped out for delivery before christmas.

well.... i'm off to camp my butt off, hopefully i'll get one. i just called BB and the guy told me that their are only 20 peeps camping out right now.

I know this thread is about Best Buy, but are Target and Circuit City, etc. getting similar second shipments for this next week?

There are about 6 idiots lined up outside my local Best Buy right now, with a sign that they made themselves that says "XBOX LINE STARTS HERE". All of them look like they are going to be putting them up on ebay. :P

My friend asked "Dude, where do you crap?" and one of them pointed to a snowbank (its snowy here)....<SHUDDER>

most other stores have just been selling them as they get them in stock. which is what bb should have been doing. but this way they get to actually advertise and make the claim we have a minimum guaranteed in stock on sunday the 18th.

with 15 hours before opening there were atleast 20 people in line at the best buys i was planning to stake out. i already have mine but i was getting one for my bro in law. ill have to come up with another way....

About 20 people in Marlborough and 40+ in Worcester here.
There was an 85 year old man on line camping out!! it is 19 degrees here right now!! Felt bad for the guy cause he was the last one on the Worcester line, looks like he wont be getting one at all
post #80 of 174
it's been said that BB will let employees camp out that are not on work schedule for opening the 18th. so the lines should get longer after BB closes.
our 2 local BB are only guaranteeing 24 minimum. My nephews group of over 30 had to split up between the stores, but seems all of them are inside the 24 minimum number in line.

hey ya never know, maybe someones card will get declined. and with BB hoarding all their previous shipments to create this event, they may have more than the minimum at each store or some core units.

24 in line for 24 XBOX 360's. Manager issued tickets/numbers to those in line. Whose to say they wont camp out the whole night. Anyway I was able to unload some games from my TRU Bundle :p

Funny thing is most of them were BB employees. The line/tents started Friday night. It's freaking 24 degrees and its snowing!
I say if you're not out there by now, you're screwed. Just drove by my local BB for craps and giggles, and there's at least 20 people out there waiting for 24 units, and even more people in cars with the heat on. Sorry, I'll wait until next year. I'm not sitting in 20 degree weather just for a piece of electronics.

anyone planning to purchase online? suggest time to wake up?
LOL I have a funny feeling the BB site is going to crash at 8am this moring. :p

2 Best Buys in Austin. 42 each. Was only going to try to stop by at like 4 or 5 this morning (not willing to wait longer than that). Problem was on the way back from the pool hall at 12am there was close to if not enough people for the full order at both stores. Once again, no one will ever see them on the shelves.
My friend drove by one of the Best Buys here in Northern CA. 60+ people were waiting in line already.
I've been looking at the BestBuy site tonite.....systems still isted as "Coming Soon".
I figured they were either going to sell them when all timezones hit "Sunday" or at 8am EST.

So far, no changeover....but chances are the site will just crash. I've tried to shop BB's sites on black fridays in the past, and the site always bogs down or crashes.

Maybe I'll get up at 7:30 and see whats up......of course by then the system will already be loaded with geeks waiting in line to hit "BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY" before getting the dreaded "Site Temporarily unavailable" message when they try to checkout :)
